Heatherdene is a well managed nursing home with a manager who is always willing to lend a hand if short staffed. The staff were all kind and caring to my mother during her stay.
My mother was left in bed until late morning, so missed the hour of activities in the morning.
Afternoons never had activities. The lounge was quiet and then residents were taken to bed at 2ish. My mother was left with one to one, who didn't understand her needs.

It was a clean pleasant atmosphere.

My mum was in Heatherden just over ten weeks for end of life care before she sadly passed away in her sleep.
I cannot compliment the staff enough on the care and dignity given to my mother. The manager and staff were always approachable on an update on her.
Heatherdene is a warm, welcoming and clean environment with every effort being made to involve families of it's residents.

I couldn’t have chosen a better home for my mum’s last weeks with us.

My beautiful Mum needed respite care and Heatherdene Nursing Home was where she was placed. She has Alzheimer's and after a health issue was unable to walk. The first thing you notice is the lovely fresh smell and the smiling faces of the team of nurses and caring team. Mum was well looked after, she always looked immaculate, clean, and cared for. Her room was lovely and all her clothing placed neatly in the wardrobe. You could tell just how much the team here at Heatherdene cared, by the way they spoke to residents and their well-being was always forefront of their plans. Due to some medical issues, Heatherdene made sure that they contacted the doctors and sorted the issue immediately. As a very close family, we found this home absolutely perfect, no complaints just praise. When Mum came home she was given a great send off by the team who had grown very fond of her and treated her like their own. I would never hesitate in using this home again. It really is perfect.

I continue to be impressed by the level of care provided to the residents at Heatherdene. The manager and staff have worked hard to make improvements since the last inspection in 2016 and should be proud to have received 'good' in all areas this time. The dining experience is so much better and I feel that people enjoy their food much more when sitting with others at a table. The activity coordinator has made a big difference to the entertainment provided with bingo and bowling now firm favourites with my mother in law! The manager has maintained a stable staff team which makes such a difference to the care of the residents who are able to build positive relationships with consistent staff.

My husband has now been at Heatherdene for over 2 years and it was the best choice I could have made in choosing this home. Right from the beginning he settled in and said that it was a "home away from home". This is all down to the Manger and her team. They go out of their way to ensure that my husband's needs whether medically or personal are met. Everyone is treated with extreme respect and dignity and they make the individual resident feel that they are important. Any concerns that I may have are dealt with care and compassion and resolved quickly. The atmosphere within the home itself as soon as you walk in the door is one of homely friendliness which carries on with whoever you meet. It's like being one big family. Special events such as Christmas, Easter, individual Birthdays and even Chinese New Year are celebrated with the involvement of all residents and staff. Families of the residents are always made to feel extremely welcome at all times.
