We arrived with the family at Sovereign Lodge to celebrate our dear friend's 70th wedding anniversary. We were given a warm welcome by a member of staff. All arrangements had been made above and beyond the call of duty for the family to get together in a quiet room. It was a wonderful occasion, and
I thank all the staff who worked so hard to ensure it was a successful gathering. All staff greeted us with a smile. Thank you all for your care and dedication.

My dad was so well looked after, and all the staff were so lovely. He was very distressed about leaving my mum, and everyone was so patient with him. The place was lovely and clean, and there was always someone cleaning whenever we were there. There were lots of activities, and they had a fabulous Jubilee
party.

My mother has been in Sovereign Lodge for over three years, and she is very content. I particularly appreciate the encouragement and support the staff provides when Mum wants to walk up and down the corridor and the care taken when she falls. My only request is that she wears her own clothes, but also
understand that running laundry for this size home can be difficult.

I had cared for my mum during the past few months after she has been diagnosed with lung cancer. I was so sad watching her become weaker and felt very concerned what to expect. When she became very poorly and at "end-of-life" came into Sovereign Lodge, I was worried about how I would find her... she
was there for dour days, but in those days, she became peaceful, relaxed and her symptoms became no worse. We all said our goodbyes, and the staff were so kind. She passed away the best possible way she could.

From our family's first contact with Sovereign Lodges staff, we knew that our beloved mum was in very safe hands. Her room was light, airy and easily made "homely". My mother has sadly been bedbound for four years, but when I visit, she always appears comfortable, clean and hydrated. Her room is always clean and tidy, and the staff care about her appearance. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I have to travel two hours each way to visit her, and the care
home is always accommodating and approachable.

I have been visiting the service user as a friend (first introduced to her through the Alzheimer's group) weekly - (except during the Covid lockdown). I have always found the staff and managers of the care centre to be efficient, friendly and keen to make the visits as pleasant and successful as possible.
I was very impressed with all Covid arrangments - testing, PPE and especially the "pod" or summerhouse in the garden.

We received a good welcome, and all Covid rules were followed with the correct security procedure. All the staff we met were very approachable and kind, as well as being well informed and considerate. We appreciated a few words with our relative's named nurse and also the manager, who was very supportive.

My husband was very happy here during a short stay (one month). The staff were so kind and friendly. A very nice home - large rooms and a varied menu. Plenty of choices. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend to others.

My siblings and I have been delighted with the care that our father has received at Sovereign Lodge. The standard of care has been consistently high, and the staff have gone out of their way to strike up a rapport with Dad. We all feel that Dad is very happy here.

I am passionate about delivering person-centred care to our residents and maintaining their independence as much as possible. It is a big adjustment for a resident to leave their own house and be in a nursing home, thus, we as a team help them feel welcomed and ensure a homely environment.

The favourite part of my working day is being able to help out with the team. Completing tasks and being ready to accept more. Meeting new people.


The biggest professional challenge in my current role was moving from a corporate company where I had been for 5 years to a smaller but growing company. Luckily enough, after a few weeks of intensive training, I was able to adapt and settle quickly into my new home. Thanks to the most friendly and accommodating staff/residents and relatives of Sovereign Lodge and those at our operations office Apex.


My biggest career highlight to date? I am quite happy to see the progression of my career over the span of six years.


Qualities that make me stand out are;
A good home manager must have good leadership and at the same time be caring and have a passionate heart. Time management is also very important.


My interests outside of work are spending time with my little boy, playing in the sand or swimming together. I also like watching movies and shopping.

The favourite part of my working day is putting a smile on people’s faces and making a difference. Giving residents something to look forward to.
My biggest professional challenge in my current role is being diverse in the role and giving a wide variety in the activity schedule; keeping it fresh and exciting. I am undertaking a Health Care Practitioner trainee role which I am very excited about and looking forward to the outcome.
Although there have been many highlights during my time here, none more important than walking in to the lounge areas and seeing smiling, happy residents
