The care team and nursing staff are all very good at their jobs. Everyone at Chartwell have looked after my mother with much love and have met her needs.
However, I was disappointed with the lack of access to the beautiful gardens in the summertime and the new ramp is not fit for purpose as most of
the staff seem to struggle with it. I certainly found it near on impossible.

Both day to day and end of life care have been fantastic. The staff all seem to really care and are very kind and thoughtful to relatives as well as residents. Access to the lovely garden really ought to be made for easier as it is not at all easy for a wheelchair to access it, a terrible shame.
Everything
else is great and I am so pleased that my parents were both able to end their days in familiar surroundings, in peace and with such good care.

The home is very homely and welcoming and the staff are always friendly. Most of the time the care is excellent. I did have to ask 4 times for a light bulb to be changed (over 3 weeks) which was disappointing but eventually, it got changed when I said I would complain officially if it wasn't done. It
was necessary as my mother couldn't see to read.

A nice home with hard working, friendly staff.


Residents encouraged to join in the many activities.


Food OK


Bedtimes a bit early (in readiness for night staff shift).


The residents are kept clean.


The rooms although clean would benefit from more attention to maintenance (call-bells,

curtains, switches etc)

The close friend (who we are responsible for) was lucky to be offered a rehabilitation placement at Victoria Chartwell Home and ended up being there nearly 10 weeks. He was very well cared for and all the staff and managers made an effort to be friendly, kind and considerate of his loss of independence,
through physical and mental ill-health. His room was very pleasant and kept tidy and clean at all times, and the laundry did a great job with his clothes. Everyone there was also very kind to us, his carers kept us informed of everything and welcomed us as visitors at any time.

My aunt died in this home on June 22nd after living there for over 8 years. She latterly had agency carers during the day, but the provision by the home itself was excellent. I visited every few weeks (I live a long way away) but I never gave warning of my visits. I always found everything in excellent
order, which was great for me and my family as well as for my aunt, who lived to the age of 96 1/2!

My mother had not wanted to leave her home but accepted finally that she needed palliative care. When I heard she had moved into care, I booked the first flight I could from Australia, arriving on the morning of the day she died. I found the staff at VCNH welcoming and my mother being cared for sensitively
in every possible way. They couldn't have been kinder, gentler or more soothing, answering her every request. They gave us time alone but were available all the time.

Would like to say how happy we were with the care extended to our father over the last few months at Chartwell. The Deputy Manager and his staff always treated Dad with the utmost respect and kindness and we were always confident that Papa was in good hands.
Communication with our large family who
were in and out visiting was very good and we all felt comfortable amongst the staff and well looked after ourselves when we virtually moved in during Dad's last few days. Thank you all.

All our family found Victoria Chartwell to be a warm and welcoming home with dedicated staff who are kind and respectful to the residents. There is a very happy atmosphere and I felt that my father felt secure and safe with his carers.
His last weeks were very difficult for the family but the staff
were fantastically supportive and open with us and helped us understand his journey. They couldn't have been more helpful and sensitive to his needs which was very reassuring for us and they made my sister and I welcome and comfortable when we stayed the nights to be with our Dad until the end.

Victoria Chartwell is a happy and welcoming place for those in their vulnerable years. There is a programme of activities every month, a sunny garden to enjoy and regular staff which helps to build a good relationship between resident and carer.


My father has wonderfully cared for nearly a year with

dignity and respect by all members of staff both day and night. The kindness shown to our family in father's last days was immense and eased the burden of his passing.

In my experience, the staff are excellent, caring and kind. My grandmother is always clean and smartly dressed, her nails are painted and her hair always perfect. My grandmother is always happy and the fact that she is 102 years old and going strong which says a lot. She loves the activities and has
been talking more and seems more alert than ever.

My mother has resided at Victoria Chartwell for a few years, the care throughout has been excellent. She has celebrated her 100th and 101st birthdays in the home and on Friday 31st March and Saturday 1st April she was given two fabulous parties: one for the residents with a singer and one with her family.
The staff worked tirelessly, over and above what is expected of them to make her 102nd birthday so brilliantly memorable. I cannot praise them enough.

Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Food very good and varied although I would have preferred more green veg. Very good value for the money and the nurses knew what they were doing and at times went the extra mile. A shower room would be a good thing.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (terminal bone marrow cancer) in 2008. I was admitted to hospital in early January with a UTI and pneumonia. In late January I was transferred to the Victoria Chartwell for rehab care until late Feb. From the start, I felt 'at home', safe and comfortable.


All

the staff showed a caring and loving approach. Nothing was too much trouble and it seemed that attitude was given to all residents. There is obviously a good team spirit at the home.


The food was nourishing and plentiful and well presented.


If I need nursing care etc in the future I would be very content to return to the Victoria Chartwell.

My mother has spent 6 weeks here in rehab after a fall and a hip operation. She is 94 years old and has received excellent care during her stay. I can not praise the staff enough for their dedication and support. She has been safe, comfortable and very happy here and would highly recommend this nursing
