I have been in Victoria Chartwell Care Home for almost two months recovering from hip surgery following an accident. In what must be a challenging environment, its staff are extremely caring and professional. The house is warm and comfortable.

Warm room to myself with a window. Comfortable, adjustable bed. It's quiet at night. Wifi is reliable-ish and Freeview TV. Private toilet across the corridor, allowed showers and night commode. Staff are typically kind, friendly, face-masked, knock before entering, explain before doing, and most respond
quickly to the bell. When opinions differ, staff are a bit over-protective but solutions are found. The staff are permanent and got to know me. No problem mentioning same-sex partner, staff are also comfortable with ethnic diversity. Physios and occupational therapist are excellent and built my confidence. Heated plates mean food arrives warm. Vegetable soups, roast dinners, and fresh vegetables are tasty. The chef sometimes checks the menu with me. Appreciated being allowed my food substitutes. The pantomime was good. The activities organiser tries hard to entice residents to the dayroom. Visiting needs to be extended to 7pm as the 4.45 pm closure cuts visitor numbers. Vegetarian choices need widening more beyond meat substitutes. Room insulation from noisy corridors is needed. Poor signage from the road confuses visitors.

I have enjoyed being at Chartwell for rehab during the last few weeks. The staff are kind and caring and do all they can to accommodate patients' needs and to create a happy atmosphere in the home. Meals are excellent, varied and attractively presented, a credit to the catering staff.

My uncle lived at Chartwell for nearly four years and was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. Even during the past two difficult years of covid restrictions, I knew that I could rely on their care and I cannot thank them enough for working through that time and looking after my relative when
I was unable to. He recently passed away, but during the month that his health declined, I was kept informed of every move. Thanks to all of the staff for being part of my uncle's family.

I wish to thank all the staff at the care home for this quality of care my 91-year-old brother-in-law received in the last four months of his life. He was treated with dignity, respect and kindness, and it was very important to us to see him so comfortable and relaxed despite the severity of his condition.

My mother has dementia and is not very mobile due to arthritis in her knees. She is a very gregarious person, always interested in those around her. She has been a resident of Victoria Chartwell for three years now and after some initial reluctance to stay has settled in comfortably. She receives excellent
care and attention from the well-trained staff. They are also very considerate to me regarding my mother and her care. The warm and caring atmosphere at the home has enabled her to make friends with residents and staff alike.
