My 95 year old aunt moved to Melrose last month after several falls and hospital stays. We have been so impressed with the care she has received to help her settle in. She is always full of praise for the staff who she says can't do enough for her. She is now walking short distances with their support. I have worked in a care home myself and know how demanding and underpaid the work is. Any queries I have are always dealt with quickly. My Aunt is a fussy eater but the chefs have spent time with her to find out her preferences and dislikes. The home provides varied activities and I hope she will join in as her confidence improves.
As a family we couldnt be happier with the care my mother recieves through Melrose Carehome. Liz and her team go above and beyond to look after mums physical and emotional needs. We are always made to feel welcome by all staff. They have fantastic chefs and regularly hold events to include all family members. Christmas is wonderful! They have a lovely garden which mum has been supported in continuing her love for gardening in. The real proof for me is that after a stressful decision around moving into a care home mum is not only settled but also thriving under Melrose's care. This really is a home from home environment where great focus is put on person centred care. Thank you Melrose!
It's such a beautifully run home where Liz and her Amazing team do the very best to make my 98 year old Mums life comfortable warm and homely. The staff are extremely kind and caring.Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is homecooked and delicious.
Facilities are great with a wide variety of activities. Having found Melrose and the Warmth we've received.I feel completely reassured that my Mum is Safe and well cared for in a lovely cosy home.
Mum, at 93, went into Melrose in 2016 straight from hospital and to be honest, we did not expect her stay to be long as her health was so fragile. However, the excellent care Mum received from all the staff enabled her to not only recover but to thrive. Over the next few months her health improved and she become interested in life again. The activities and homely atmosphere at Melrose, coupled with the consistency in staffing meant Mum was comfortable and content and that it is testimony to the care and attention she received. There were many instances where we could detail how Mum changed since she began her stay. It was amazing how she got involved in some of the events arranged. Although in difficult circumstances, it was lovely to finally meet the members of the night staff who had looked after Mum all through her nine years at Melrose. We cannot speak highly enough of these very special, dedicated people.
My father was admitted to Melrose in July for respite care for two weeks and as a result of the exceptional kindness and care provided he decided he wanted to make Melrose his home. Since being there he has thrived in every way, he participates in the very varied social and therapeutic activities ,enjoys the home cooked food and has his care provided by kind and competent care and nursing staff .Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who all go that extra mile for the residents and their visitors. The communication via the Manager is again exceptional with regular weekly updates and Zoom meetings for family members who are not able to visit regularly. I highly recommend Melrose Nursing Home, as someone who has worked in this sector, this is by far the most outstanding Home I have encountered.
Thank you so much for this lovely review. We will share it with the team.
My dad moved to Melrose after a long stay in hospital and temporary care. Since moving here, we have seen such an improvement in his wellbeing. He is now more active and generally happier, I believe this is due to the care and kindness of the staff here. Lots of the staff have worked here for a number of years which I think says alot. The place has such a homely feel and my dad says the food is good too!
This has not been an easy journey for her or for the family, but we have always felt strongly supported and understood by all the staff at Melrose.
My Dad has been at Melrose for 5 years and we have been very happy with the care he has received throughout that time. The home has a real family feel with very caring staff who know each resident well, treating them with dignity and respect. A variety of activities are provided throughout the week including outside visitors coming in. The home is well managed and communication with the home is easy. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
Melrose employees handle this very difficult job with professionalism, patience, kindness and care. Over the years, my mother has been able to make friends because to a low staff turnover and she now considers it as her home. Excellent communication is maintained, not just with my mother but also with her family.
The staff are amazingly kind and caring, and the whole ethos of the home is about improving outcomes for residents.
Fun and engaging activities are available each day, and the standard of food is excellent.
Would not hesitate to recommend.
The home aims to have a family feel and I would say they achieve that. I would thoroughly recommend the home for a family member. I have thought about moving in myself!
The staff at Melrose are 2nd to none. They are always friendly, attentive, and caring, they treat the residents like members of the family. Many have been working there for several years, so it feels more like a family environment. The home isn't a purpose-built facility, so it isn't like a hotel where all the rooms are exactly the same. It has character and does feel like home from home.
Finding the right home is always challenging, but working in this field myself, it was much easier. As having worked at Melrose many years ago, I already had a feel. It's such a homely environment, lovely staff, and plenty of activities to be entertained by. This was an important aspect for me and Mum. It's lovely garden, and you always feel welcome. I would recommend it to others.
There are many activities for the residents to enjoy, although my brother does not take advantage of these, he does enjoy his meals which are tasty, nutritious and varied
My aunt has been at Melrose since 2019. The care she is given is first rate. The staff are all very kind with a lovely smile and a welcome cup of tea upon every visit. My aunt loves the food and the way the staff react with her making her laugh and her face light up. Thank you so much.
Our mother has ongoing Alzheimer's related needs. All the staff have supported her wonderfully as her condition progresses and show kindness, understanding and great care. As her family, we appreciate everything that the staff at Melrose Nursing Home do for our mum.
Our mother has been a resident at Melrose Nursing Home for six months now and we can’t speak highly enough of the care she has received. The standard of care is excellent. The staff know Mum really well and respond to her changing care and nursing needs brilliantly. A great weight of worry has been taken off our shoulders. Staff are so caring and go the extra mile to make sure she is comfortable and content. A big thank you to everyone at the Nursing Home from housekeeping, laundry staff, and chefs to carers and nurses, everyone is kind and efficient.
Melrose Nursing Home is a very friendly place and my mother is very happy there. All staff are pleasant and the residents have plenty of activities throughout the week, ranging from quizzes, arts and crafts, coffee mornings, flower arranging, games and walks in the park and plenty more. Food is good and the place is very clean. Mum is very happy there, it’s like a home from home. The staff work extremely hard to keep everyone happy.
We feel very reassured that our mother’s needs are being met and she is as happy and well cared for as is possible.
I cannot praise and thank Melrose Care Home enough for their kindness and care whilst looking after my mother during her respite care of three weeks. The manager is a kind, caring, professional person who runs the home seamlessly and the staff looking after my mum without exception, have shown love, kindness and an incredible way of making my mum feel at home immediately. The home itself is immaculate, modern and a special thanks goes to the Chef, who produced the most delicious homemade food, every single day, a wide variety of choices and happily cooked anything that wasn't on the menu. My mum regained her appetite after two years of not having one and we can never thank Melrose and the staff enough for that. I would thoroughly and without hesitation, recommend Melrose. We, as a family, knew, at all times, that Mum was receiving the best care possible. Thank you all so much. Our Family wishes you all, a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
