Melrose has won numerous awards for end of life care. They believe this is because Melrose is a real home: a loving, caring, family environment, where top quality day-to-day care is twinned with emotional, mental and spiritual development - holistic, person-centred care is at the heart of everything.

Staff are regularly trained and specialise in their particular philosophy, creating a home where everything is individualised. Care depends upon needs and wishes, and relatives and friends are welcome and consulted on care issues. My dad moved to Melrose after a long stay in hospital and temporary care. Since moving here, we have seen such an improvement in his wellbeing. He is now more active and generally happier, I believe this is due to the care and kindness of the staff here. Lots of the staff have worked here for a number
of years which I think says alot. The place has such a homely feel and my dad says the food is good too!

The community at Melrose (carers, nurses and managers) have shown consistent kindness and care to my elderly mother. They are always patient and cheerful with her which makes a huge difference to her experience of life with Alzheimer's, and they have responded promptly to any concerns we have raised.
This
has not been an easy journey for her or for the family, but we have always felt strongly supported and understood by all the staff at Melrose.

My Dad has been at Melrose for 5 years and we have been very happy with the care he has received throughout that time. The home has a real family feel with very caring staff who know each resident well, treating them with dignity and respect. A variety of activities are provided throughout the week
including outside visitors coming in. The home is well managed and communication with the home is easy. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

My 102 year old mother has been a resident at Melrose for a number of years. Initially we thought it would be challenging to move her into a nursing home since she was a fiercely independent woman, but the staff played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition.
Melrose employees handle this very
difficult job with professionalism, patience, kindness and care. Over the years, my mother has been able to make friends because to a low staff turnover and she now considers it as her home. Excellent communication is maintained, not just with my mother but also with her family.

The Manager and her Amazing team have been exceptional in their kindness and understanding of My 97 year old Mum whose lived there for 6months.
Melrose is a Beautiful Cosy Welcoming home.

My mum was very poorly when she moved to Melrose, but has absolutely thrived since living there.
The staff are amazingly kind and caring, and the whole ethos of the home is about improving outcomes for residents.
Fun and engaging activities are available each day, and the standard of food is excellent.
Would not hesitate to recommend.

My mum has been a resident since September 2025 and I have been constantly impressed by the care she receives. All of the staff know and seem to genuinely care for her. They do all they can to meet her individual needs. The team organise events and activities tailored for the residents. They welcome
us warmly when we visit. When mum was more mobile, they would get her ready for us taking her out.
The home aims to have a family feel and I would say they achieve that. I would thoroughly recommend the home for a family member. I have thought about moving in myself!

The staff at Melrose are 2nd to none. They are always friendly, attentive, and caring, they treat the residents like members of the family. Many have been working there for several years, so it feels more like a family environment. The home isn't a purpose-built facility, so it isn't like a hotel where
all the rooms are exactly the same. It has character and does feel like home from home.

Finding the right home is always challenging, but working in this field myself, it was much easier. As having worked at Melrose many years ago, I already had a feel. It's such a homely environment, lovely staff, and plenty of activities to be entertained by. This was an important aspect for me and Mum.
It's lovely garden, and you always feel welcome. I would recommend it to others.

Living in Canada, I entrust my brother's care to the staff at Melrose Nursing Home who have been kindness itself in ensuring that as his health has deteriorated he is treated with compassion and patience. I am kept up to date with his health issues and have been so throughout his long-term stay at Melrose.
There
are many activities for the residents to enjoy, although my brother does not take advantage of these, he does enjoy his meals which are tasty, nutritious and varied

My aunt has been at Melrose since 2019. The care she is given is first rate. The staff are all very kind with a lovely smile and a welcome cup of tea upon every visit. My aunt loves the food and the way the staff react with her making her laugh and her face light up. Thank you so much.

Our mother has been a resident at Melrose Nursing Home for six months now and we can’t speak highly enough of the care she has received. The standard of care is excellent. The staff know Mum really well and respond to her changing care and nursing needs brilliantly. A great weight of worry has been
taken off our shoulders. Staff are so caring and go the extra mile to make sure she is comfortable and content. A big thank you to everyone at the Nursing Home from housekeeping, laundry staff, and chefs to carers and nurses, everyone is kind and efficient.

Melrose Nursing Home is a very friendly place and my mother is very happy there. All staff are pleasant and the residents have plenty of activities throughout the week, ranging from quizzes, arts and crafts, coffee mornings, flower arranging, games and walks in the park and plenty more. Food is good
and the place is very clean. Mum is very happy there, it’s like a home from home. The staff work extremely hard to keep everyone happy.

My sisters and I would like to sing the praises of the staff at Melrose Nursing Home in their care of our mother. The staff are kind, caring and thoughtful. They are proactive in checking all medical support and nursing is administered in a timely and respectful way. They also put the time into care
and take an interest in the elderly person.
We feel very reassured that our mother’s needs are being met and she is as happy and well cared for as is possible.

I cannot praise and thank Melrose Care Home enough for their kindness and care whilst looking after my mother during her respite care of three weeks. The manager is a kind, caring, professional person who runs the home seamlessly and the staff looking after my mum without exception, have shown love,
kindness and an incredible way of making my mum feel at home immediately. The home itself is immaculate, modern and a special thanks goes to the Chef, who produced the most delicious homemade food, every single day, a wide variety of choices and happily cooked anything that wasn't on the menu. My mum regained her appetite after two years of not having one and we can never thank Melrose and the staff enough for that. I would thoroughly and without hesitation, recommend Melrose. We, as a family, knew, at all times, that Mum was receiving the best care possible. Thank you all so much. Our Family wishes you all, a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Our dear mum moved into Melrose on September 2nd 2021 with a terminal illness. We chose this home due to its rating of excellent by CQC and as they offer end of life care. We were not disappointed.


The care manager was excellent and made herself accessible to us as needed. It was the most difficult

time in my life as I watched my beloved mum draw closer to the end of her life and all of the care staff and nurses were just amazing and caring to me and my family, as well as my mum! They understood how hard it is for the relatives of their residents and were always kind, sympathetic and helpful, however busy they were.


The care the staff gave my mum was second to none and having worked in social care myself, I could not fault them. They really did care for my mum and gave her time, chatting to her and sharing a joke with her. My sister and I were able to be with her overnight as she passed away and again the care shown by the staff was exemplary.

I am a solicitor who specialises in advice to clients and family in later life.
Over the years I have entrusted many of my clients who I am Attorney or Deputy for to the expert care of the team at Melrose.
I also have my father-in-law who has been there for the past 3 years this September.
They also
provide personalised care and respect to the residents as well as thoughtfulness to the families and loved ones.
This has been evident in the way that they have supported my mother-in-law during her poor health which impacted how she could stay in contact with my father-in-law.
They clearly invest in training and have good recruitment processes since the staff are consistently excellent, despite inevitable changes
They create a homely environment, with a can do attitude, to empower the residents in ways that are individual and particular to them each.
I can not recommend them highly enough.

Mum has been in Melrose for two years now. The staff are, without exception, cheerful, incredibly kind and caring and Mum is very happy there. Personal care is excellent and Mum’s complex needs are well met. Communication with relatives during COVID has been excellent and visiting guidelines clearly

Mum has had a fantastic experience since she joined Melrose in November 2020 after a period in hospital. When she joined she was very depressed and not eating. However, despite being very frail she soon got to grips with zoom calls, which she really enjoyed and started eating. Now we are really enjoying
trips to the garden and wheeling her to the local park. Cannot fault the care and attention given to Mum by all the staff. The level of communication between families and the home is exemplary. Thank you.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 1995

Liz joined Melrose Care over 30 years ago, and under her leadership, Melrose has continuously achieved a Good CQC rating. In our last CQC inspection, Liz achieved Outstanding, making Melrose the Only Outstanding Nursing home in Worthing.


Liz is a trained registered nurse and attends regular training updates. She has also achieved Platinum status under the Gold Standard Framework.
