The carers are amazing. They do these things so easy and dealing with the residents in a very tactful manner especially if they are difficult. Nothing is too much for them. Every time I visit I feel welcome there. My friend lives at Willett Lodge, she can be difficult but they manage to look after her
well. Very good team and manager is always there to listen if there is a concern.
Reply from Willett Lodge, Team at Willett Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you feel welcomed and that your friend is well cared for. Our team takes pride in providing compassionate, patient care, and your feedback means a lot to all of us.

Seymour Court is absolutely fantastic. The staff and carers are amazing, very caring, friendly and can't do enough for the residents. It's spotlessly clean everywhere, and the meals they do there for the residents are beautiful and cooked fresh on the premises. I would recommend this home, it's top
class, I would give five stars.

Charlton House

from George P (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 7 November 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
As Power of Attorney I had to make the difficult decision with Social Services to find a suitable Care Home for my friend. After an unsuccessful placement at another home Charlton House was suggested. We were impressed from the first visit and have found out initial favourable impressions confirmed
over the last 4 months. The overall quality of the accommodation is good, with reasonable sized rooms and good sized common areas.
The standout is the staff, at all levels, their thoughtful care for the residents is excellent. The good and caring atmosphere they create is also excellent. They make it easy to discuss the needs and best care for my friend. I cannot speak to highly of the staff team.
I must mention the activities that are organised on a very regular basis. They are so well done, are fun and stimulating. And demanding though that is, they also look to support the needs of individuals, including individual trips out of the home when they can.
Reply from Sarah Latham, Registered Manager at Charlton HouseThank you so much for your lovely review of Charlton House. We truly appreciate your kind words and the time you took to share your experience. Your feedback means a lot to us, and we're delighted to hear your positive comments about all departments.
I will make sure your feedback is shared with the whole team - they'll be so pleased to know their hard work has been recognised.
Thank you once again for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review.

Melrose Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum, at 93, went into Melrose in 2016 straight from hospital and to be honest, we did not expect her stay to be long as her health was so fragile. However, the excellent care Mum received from all the staff enabled her to not only recover but to thrive. Over the next few months her health improved
and she become interested in life again. The activities and homely atmosphere at Melrose, coupled with the consistency in staffing meant Mum was comfortable and content and that it is testimony to the care and attention she received. There were many instances where we could detail how Mum changed since she began her stay. It was amazing how she got involved in some of the events arranged. Although in difficult circumstances, it was lovely to finally meet the members of the night staff who had looked after Mum all through her nine years at Melrose. We cannot speak highly enough of these very special, dedicated people.

My father was admitted to Melrose in July for respite care for two weeks and as a result of the exceptional kindness and care provided he decided he wanted to make Melrose his home. Since being there he has thrived in every way, he participates in the very varied social and therapeutic activities
,enjoys the home cooked food and has his care provided by kind and competent care and nursing staff .Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who all go that extra mile for the residents and their visitors. The communication via the Manager is again exceptional with regular weekly updates and Zoom meetings for family members who are not able to visit regularly. I highly recommend Melrose Nursing Home, as someone who has worked in this sector, this is by far the most outstanding Home I have encountered.

My dad moved to Melrose after a long stay in hospital and temporary care. Since moving here, we have seen such an improvement in his wellbeing. He is now more active and generally happier, I believe this is due to the care and kindness of the staff here. Lots of the staff have worked here for a number
of years which I think says alot. The place has such a homely feel and my dad says the food is good too!

The community at Melrose (carers, nurses and managers) have shown consistent kindness and care to my elderly mother. They are always patient and cheerful with her which makes a huge difference to her experience of life with Alzheimer's, and they have responded promptly to any concerns we have raised.
This
has not been an easy journey for her or for the family, but we have always felt strongly supported and understood by all the staff at Melrose.

My Dad has been at Melrose for 5 years and we have been very happy with the care he has received throughout that time. The home has a real family feel with very caring staff who know each resident well, treating them with dignity and respect. A variety of activities are provided throughout the week
including outside visitors coming in. The home is well managed and communication with the home is easy. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

My 102 year old mother has been a resident at Melrose for a number of years. Initially we thought it would be challenging to move her into a nursing home since she was a fiercely independent woman, but the staff played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition.
Melrose employees handle this very
difficult job with professionalism, patience, kindness and care. Over the years, my mother has been able to make friends because to a low staff turnover and she now considers it as her home. Excellent communication is maintained, not just with my mother but also with her family.

Mum has Parkinson's dementia. Mum needed respite care when my dad had a stroke. (This care started in May 25 - October 25 2025) Mum has been very confused and emotional often being very frightened by her night terrors. Mum believes her night terrors are actually real and needs a lot of support and reassurance
that she is safe. Mum and dad have been married for 71 years and to be separated from each other also took its toll on both of them. Throughout all of this the staff have been kind, caring and supportive with mum, we couldn't have asked for more

My mum was very poorly when she moved to Melrose, but has absolutely thrived since living there.
The staff are amazingly kind and caring, and the whole ethos of the home is about improving outcomes for residents.
Fun and engaging activities are available each day, and the standard of food is excellent.
Would not hesitate to recommend.

My mum has been a resident since September 2025 and I have been constantly impressed by the care she receives. All of the staff know and seem to genuinely care for her. They do all they can to meet her individual needs. The team organise events and activities tailored for the residents. They welcome
us warmly when we visit. When mum was more mobile, they would get her ready for us taking her out.
The home aims to have a family feel and I would say they achieve that. I would thoroughly recommend the home for a family member. I have thought about moving in myself!

Apart from having to wait at some times to be seen when I call, due to shortage of staff, the service I get is excellent.
Due to me being profoundly deaf, some of the staff have started to learn BSL (British Sign Language) for my benefit

The permanent staff do an exceptional job of providing kind, compassionate, thoughtful care. Their approach to our mother with bad dementia managed to bring out the best in her, and we saw some of her old spark. This was due to the personalised, individual care and activities they undertook with her;
unfortunately, the accommodation they have to work in is very poor. The rooms are cramped, poorly maintained, and there is limited public space; it is generally cramped. It is cleaned diligently, but cleanliness is difficult with such an old building. There is little privacy for residents and their visitors. The permanent staff are, without exception, excellent, but some of the 'bank' nurses we met at the weekend were less so. They did not seem to understand the concept of end of life care - they sure did not wear gloves to!

Sadly my husband reached a stage of dementia when I had to admit defeat. I simply could not find a home that would take him, given the behaviour his dementia caused. In the end I had to contact Social Services, and this was the only place available. Now, I have to admit that if I had gone to inspect
it, I would not have chosen it. It's an old house converted, and consequently a bit of a maize. Rooms are functional and practical rather than large or elegant, and it doesn't look much. BUT staff and management are fabulous, and could not have been kinder, and had so much patience with him. I was supported too. This is so much more important than any other consideration, and it is for this reason that I have rated the home very highly. There was also a secure courtyard where we sat together in the sun whenever weather permitted. He was, we knew, at the end of his life, and when he passed the staff and management were so kind to me. Lovely calm atmosphere.
Reply from Sarah Latham, Registered Manager at Charlton HouseOn behalf of everyone at Charlton House thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words during such a difficult time.It was truly an honor and privilege to care for husband and we are deeply sorry for your loss.
