When my mother arrived at the home, we were met by several members of staff. They were very friendly and extremely helpful with accompanying Mum and assisting me with carrying in Mums belongings. Unfortunately, Mum was admitted to hospital after a couple of weeks but is now back in the home. Everyone
has been very caring, patient and understanding with my brother and myself when we ring for updates. We are very pleased with Mum's care in these difficult times.

My mother joined St Michael's in March 2019 and has been a resident since. Although she is incapacitated and struggles with her memory, the staff and management treat her with care and respect at all times. This is of great comfort to the family to know she is being well looked after. The past year
has been difficult due to Covid, but the home has done what is necessary to keep her safe.
My 97-year-old aunt visits her sister on a regular basis and even stayed to celebrate Christmas with her. She enjoys visiting the home and loves the friendly staff and always mentions the lovely meals they supply, together with the activities. She would have no hesitation in moving in!
I feel extremely grateful and would not hesitate to recommend St Michael's Nursing Home.

I was admitted to St Michael's care home for respite care after breaking my ankle. The care I received was excellent, and I was very happy there for the two months that I stayed. The staff are all very attentive and caring, and the food and cleanliness were excellent. I would recommend the care home
to anyone wanting to receive nursing care.

My Aunt went to live at St. Michael’s in August 2020. She was 91 years old and, following a short spell in hospital, she finally had to acknowledge that she couldn’t live on her own anymore. It was a huge decision for her but I am so grateful that we were lucky enough to find St. Michael’s for her.
From my first telephone conversation with them, I was impressed with the fact that they clearly have a genuine care for their residents. Throughout her time there, I have nothing but praise for how she was looked after and how they managed the difficult issue of visits due to Covid 19. When it became apparent that she had reached the last stages of her life, it was made clear to us that we could visit as often as we wished and at times convenient to us. My Aunt sadly died but I take great comfort from the fact that the last couple of months of her life were spent in a lovely environment with caring staff.

Dad joined St Michael’s in November 2016. He settled in very quickly and the management and carers give excellent care and show extreme kindness. The carers arrange his room just as he likes it, right down to the position of his wine glass ready for his television session. Daily life at St.Michael’s
includes activities in the lounge with entertainment on many occasions. The conservatory is an excellent venue to meet friends and Dad enjoys his trips out and has so far included a trip to the Worthing seafront including tea and cakes on the Pier, a trip to the shopping centre and a visit to the cinema. The summer BBQ and party make use of the rear garden which is also available for residents to use and sit with friends. Dad enjoys all his meals. Great care and consideration is shown by the staff as Dad needs assistance. Birthdays also include a celebration cake shared around. We often visit and the friendliness of the management and staff is excellent and always willing to help. We are very happy with Dads stay.

My mother recently went into St Michael's, although she was only there for a very short time before her demise. During that time, our family could not be happier with the treatment she received from the staff there. They made sure she was taken to the lounge daily when her health permitted to join in
with the activities and to mix with the other residents. They even gave her a manicure and painted her nails for her! The staff were very friendly and attentive and there always appeared to be many of them around. We watched them interacting with the residents. Welcoming atmosphere. Any requests we made of them they followed through. Mum even was served a small glass of wine with her meal, which she enjoyed tremendously. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff was excellent and my family genuinely believed that they cared about our mother. Excellent care - thank you for looking after her so well.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.664) out of 10 for St Michael's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for St Michael's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Michael's Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
