Visiting my mother-in-law with my sister-in-law on this day we found my mother-in-law sat in the communal area with several staff and other residents. She had had a shower and her hair washed (which can be very difficult for staff) she was in a very happy mood, lauging and talking with us both. Saying
that the staff ar very good, telling them each that they were her best girl or boy. She was actually laughing so much at times that she had tears rolling down her face. This is very good for us as a family to know that she is now much more settled than she was before she would be shouting at us and constantly asking to go home. The area and her bedroom were very clean and there were no unpleasant smells. The staff all interacted with my mother-in-law. The nurse in charge also keep us informed of anything which they feel is important.

My mum spent several weeks here in Jan/Feb 2025. Since coming home she has improved more than we expected. I'm looking for respite for her while I go on holiday and am really pleased she will be able to come back to Amberley Hall.

In for rehab, one staff member extremely good. Resident not included in events at Amberley Hall we were told event were for residents only. Staff not all aware of needs ie shown menu but sight-impaired! Room not clean toilet smelt until we requested the extractor was turned back on. Rehab not regular
and resident not encouraged to help in dressing and washing. Had to request he was showered. Staff were pleasant on the whole but resident did not receive rehab and was less able than when we arrived. Therapy staff seemed to loose interest when he could not return home and was waiting to move to another home.

When my father was flooded out of his bungalow following a water leak, Amberley took him in at very short notice and he ended up staying two weeks. While he has his problems at the home it was a safe, secure and comfortable environment and I am very grateful for the service offered.

Amberley Hall feels like a family environment, every member of staff from carers to maintenance and kitchen staff treat the residents and families with respect and compassion, residents are looked after not only in terms of their physical needs bu also the whole of their well being. The food is a very
good standard and the menu is very varied. Good and varied activities are planned very carefully for residents and visiting family, any concerns are dealt with very quickly and professionally giving me confidence that my partner is receiving the right care.

I was discharged from hospital in King's Lynn just before Christmas and needed 2 weeks 'convalescence care' before returning home. My stay covered Christmas and New Year. I was immediately made to feel welcome at Amberley Hall. All the staff were warm, kind, friendly and efficient and always there when
needed. My room was spacious and comfortable, overlooking a well-kept patio garden. My vegetarian diet was an initial challenge for the kitchen. But, after negotiating with the head chef, we worked out a menu which suited me. Other small wrinkles were efficiently smoothed out by the management. I really enjoyed my stay and will return there, if necessary.

My Mum was provided with a placement at Amberley Hall having had a really bad experience of care home neglect at another placement. This poor care resulted in Mum being hospitalised and as a result, caused us to have massive anxieties about entrusting anyone else to look after Mum to the standard deserved.
From the general manager to the reception staff, the laundry staff, the attentive carers and the nursing staff, they were absolutely phenomenal in not only welcoming Mum, but in caring for her with the compassion, dignity, and humility that any family strives for on behalf of their loved one. They treated Mum like one of their own and were so empathetic in reassuring us as a family that Mum was in good hands at all times. We visited Mum regularly and on each occasion, we were reassured to see that she was offered regular snacks between meals and was always well-presented, clean and well looked after. Even down to the 'small things' like listening to our tips on how to interact with Mum.

Amberley Hall accepted my father, who has severe dementia and very specialist needs, from hospital after a fall.
We were worried as we had read that the home was under special measures and my Dad is hard to look after and can be aggressive during personal care. We were assured that the home could meet
his needs and when we arrived it had a friendly feel. It became obvious quite quickly that they were not able to deal with him. I arrived at 10am one morning to find him lying on a mattress, no sheets or blankets and just a nappy and dirty shirt on. I found help and 4 people appeared to get him dressed and make his bed. After this, and on 3 consecutive days my Dad was put in an ambulance on his own to go to A&E. Instead of speaking to us as family and explaining that they couldn't cope with him or contacting the hospital, they put a vulnerable person who doesn't know where he is in an ambulance on his own to go to A&E. This was a horrendous experience and very upsetting for everyone.

Absolutely fabulous, professional and caring nursing staff, right to the very end. Because they all took the time to get to know my friend very well, it was a great comfort to me, that they knew what he needed when he needed it, I will miss the bond I formed with the staff and the caring and loving
atmosphere they provided my friend and my family, his family and friends who came to visit right up to the end of his life. We're all so very blessed and very much appreciate this type of loving care and comfort, towards the end of our friend's life.

Mum has spent three and a half years at Amberley Hall. She had dementia and she could not have been looked after better. The staff were great. My mum passed last night (7/8/24) at the home. The end-of-life care was very good. They made Mum as comfortable as possible. Many of the staff sat with her.
I will recommend Amberley Hall; the staff have been brilliant. Thanks.

Amberley Hall is my dad's home since late 2021. Every time I visit he tells me how happy he is and how kind everyone is. He loves the food and the music. He loves to sing and to play the piano.
He enjoys watching films in the cinema room and is very well looked after. He always tells me "I couldn't
be anywhere better than this" and never complains about anything.
The home is clean and yet still homely with dedicated staff.
Thank you for your kindness and care for my dad. I really appreciate it.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.581)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.581) out of 10 for Amberley Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.581 for Amberley Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (348 Excellents x 5) + (107 Goods x 4) + (33 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 499 Ratings = 4.581
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amberley Hall Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 106 registered maximum number of service users is 21.2, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Hello, my name is Blessy, and I am the Home Manager here at Amberley Hall.

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to help others, and that passion naturally led me into a career in healthcare. I began my nursing journey over 20 years ago at the highly respected Dr M.G. R. Medical University, Tamil Nadu, India. During this time, I specialised in Haematology and Operative Surgery within a multi-specialist hospital. One of my proudest achievements after obtaining my BSc in Nursing was progressing to Senior Lead Matron and becoming a course tutor for General Nursing.

I continued to build on my knowledge and experience in the UK, by completing my MSc Mental Health Nursing and went on to work as Clinical Lead and Deputy Manager at a well-regarded care home in Dulwich, further strengthening my commitment to delivering outstanding, person-centred care before moving to King's Lynn in the beautiful county of Norfolk.

Providing exemplary care is at the very heart of everything our team at Amberley Hall does. Nothing matters more to me than ensuring that every resident who makes Amberley Hall their home, or joins us for a short-term respite stay, receives the highest quality of care, dignity, and respect always.

I fully understand the trust that residents and their families place in us when they choose Amberley Hall, and I take this responsibility very seriously. It is a true privilege to get to know our residents and their families and friends, listen to their life stories, and share meaningful moments together while creating happy memories in a warm and supportive environment.

If there is ever anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My door is always open, my team and I will always do our very best to support you and I look forward to welcoming you to Amberley Hall very soon!
