The home is welcoming, relaxed and more like a hotel than residential care. My dad was happy here. Staff were friendly and engaging, food was very good as were activities arranged for residents. The ability to make tea and coffee when they wanted is also very important for residents.

I come to Goodwins to rest after coming out of hospital. I really enjoyed myself. Staff got me back on my feet again. I made some lovely friends and the staff were amazing, would come back anytime. The deputy manager came to see me in hospital and greeted me when I arrived.

It made a difference seeing a familiar face, smiling and happy to see me.

My husband was a resident at Goodwins Hall for from February 2016 until his death on 28th September. In that time, he was treated with great respect, received loving care and at the end of his life was constantly monitored to ensure what time he had left was as comfortable as possible. The staff did their best to keep him clean and happy and always tried to encourage him to take an interest in their activities.

He enjoyed the well-kept gardens and the Sunday church service every month.

Overall Experience

It is now almost two years since Dad was discharged from hospital with a very poor prognosis for any improvement in mobility or cognition, he needed 24-hour care.

We had been told by hospital staff that he would make no further progress so was not able to benefit from rehab. The very professional care he received at Goodwin's proved them wrong.

Yesterday, when I arrived to visit, Dad had just had a walk in the sunshine around the beautiful garden, with a walking aid but independently!

As a family, we know that the dedication, friendly and totally professional care he has received at Goodwin's has given us so much precious extra time with Dad.

Dad has retained much of his lost independence in a homely setting but with the backup of 24-hour care. I can honestly say that the staff members, without exception, display genuine care and empathy with the residents and extend that to us as family.

The staff here are a credit to the profession.
Nothing is too much trouble and they treat the residents like they are part of their family.
My father was a resident for a number of years and sadly passed away in March.
The care they provided not only to him but to us as a family was exceptional.
Going above and beyond the call of duty.
