I am very happy with the care my daughter is receiving and my daughter is happy with the care and compassion the carers are giving her. I know when I go home my daughter is being kept safe and cared for properly.

I have only been here a matter of months but the carers are all willing to do anything to keep us happy and comfortable. I feel happy here with too much food and all I need to have in the way of comfort, warmth and general well-being and comfort.

From the first day I visited my husband, each member of staff called me by my Christian name. The care and attention given to the residents are excellent. The rooms are very pleasant, the garden is wonderful and the reception area is warm and friendly. Cleanliness is first class. The caution taken to
keep Covid at a manageable level is excellent. Also, most of the carers go above and beyond their duties, this is much appreciated. Thank you.

My opinion of Goodwins Hall Residential Care Home is overall very good. My elderly godmother could no longer live alone and needed hands-on care, which has all been provided for her at a very professional rate at this home. My only concern is that with more staff and equipment e.g. hoists, the care
would be even greater.

This is the second time my mum has been to Goodwins Hall for respite. The first time she was in was okay but much harder for us to do as it was so emotional leaving her there. This time has been totally different and I can't praise the team leader enough for the superb care and kindness she ensures
my mum gets. Even ringing me with updates as I can't visit due to having Covid this week. This is so reassuring as Mum and I are very close. Mum's making friends, had her hair and nails done and joins in with activities. Can't fault her stay this time, excellent.

My wife came into Goodwins in September due to a loss of care package, and she was stressed and upset because of it.
It was a difficult couple of months while she adapted to her new surroundings, routine and the staff.
The home was clean, light and airy, with friendly, smiling reception staff. Her
carers couldn’t do enough for her, and even when she was stressed, upset and tearful managed to be professional and calm. The room was clean, airy and with a little view of the garden. The food was excellent and plentiful, and she was allowed her favourite, orange juice, instead of squash, which she appreciated. The manager and nurses were available if there was an issue, and were more than happy to help sort out the few issues we had.

My father was moved to Goodwins Hall following a stay in the hospital, initially for a two-week respite stay. After the two weeks, he decided to remain there and has now settled in, made some friends. With the continuous support from the staff, his somewhat lovely existence has now given him a far better
quality of life.

My father entered Goodwins Hall in September 2021, following a stay in the hospital, and transitioned onto a permanent contract in late November 2021.
I conducted some research into local care provision and was impressed by the CQC ratings and recommendations for Goodwins Hall, and it was an easy decision
to place my father there knowing that he would receive the best possible care.
Since then, my initial impressions have been met. The quality of staff is very high. Attentive, professional and always willing to offer a personal touch to the care given. My father suffered a fall in his room and the whole process from response to attending hospital for a precautionary x-ray was handled professionally and gave me real confidence in the care given.
It has been very easy to access the general home and care team management to resolve any issues and they are always willing to listen and open to suggestions.
My father is happy there and that gives us the best possible feeling.

My brother has been a resident for many years. I am a Canadian citizen and have visited on about three occasions. I am truly amazed at the high degree of comfort, care and attention my brother receives. I know that he has never been happier knowing that he has the comfort of unbelievably caring staff.
I speak to him on Zoom at least twice a week and regularly his delightful nurse whose name (unfortunately I am not allowed to give) wheels him into the room and sets it up for him. I know the nursing home is privately owned, so that makes the care even that more impressive knowing that the residents care comes first and takes precedence over shareholder profit which is so often the case. Thank you so very much.

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone at Goodwins Hall. After my uncle, who lived on his own had a heart attack, then spending 4 weeks in hospital, and after 2 weeks respite at another home, we as a family were rather concerned for his health and wellbeing. He then came to Goodwins Hall
in mid-June, naturally, it took a bit of time to settle to his new surroundings, but we have to say with the excellent care and kindness of all staff at Goodwins he has settled very well, and possibly is better now than prior to his heart attack. The care and kindness he receives along with the company and companionship from others around him as well as the regular events and activities at Goodwins is we believe the best medicine for him. Thanks again Goodwins, carry on the good work.

Absolutely excellent! I could not fault the care my father received here as a Parkinson's respite patient. The staff are highly professional, genuinely caring, friendly and very knowledgable which was so reassuring. Every need my dad had was catered for, people who had time for him. The food is top
class, surroundings are lovely, like a hotel. Hairdressers, coffee lounge, multiple activities. This is a well managed, highly trained, impressive care home. We felt like part of the family here. A really lovely place.

My wife was a resident at Goodwins Hall for 5 months until, sadly, she died. From the start the staff (at all levels) were very friendly and attentive, treating her with dignity and kindness and never too busy to have a chat with me. Even when her condition worsened and she became unable to respond
they continued to care for her with kindness. At that stage, there was never any suggestion that, as a self payer, we would have to pay more, in spite of the extra work involved. Her family is grateful that she was able to remain at Goodwins Hall until the end came, rather than be moved to a hospital.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending time with her partner and two boys. A devoted animal lover, she also cares for her 3 cats, who are very much part of the family.

Thomas

Thomas Turnbull

Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Joined: 2011

Thomas Turnbull, fondly known as Tom, began his journey at Goodwins Hall in July 2011 as a gardener. With a natural talent for nurturing outdoor spaces and a strong work ethic, Tom quickly became a valued member of the team. His dedication and versatility saw him take on increasing responsibilities, eventually stepping into the role of Head of Maintenance.


Tom is known for his calm, can-do attitude and his commitment to keeping Goodwins Hall running smoothly. Whether he’s solving a maintenance issue or lending a hand to a colleague, Tom’s reliability and positive spirit make him an essential part of the Goodwins Hall family.


Outside of work, Tom enjoys a fulfilling life with his wife Michelle and their two sons, Jack and Oliver. A passionate gardener at heart, he also tends to his own allotment, where he grows a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. In addition to gardening, Tom has a love for foraging wild plants, often exploring nature to discover edible treasures and deepen his connection with the outdoors.

Christine

Christine Haughey

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2024

Christine Haughey joined Goodwins Hall as Head Chef in July 2024, bringing with her an impressive 24 years of experience in the culinary world. Her journey through the hospitality industry has been as diverse as it is inspiring.


Christine has successfully owned and operated a variety of establishments, including traditional pubs, restaurants, and even a vibrant rock and roll diner. Her passion for food and adventure also led her to Spain, where she spent six years running her own tapas bar, immersing herself in Mediterranean flavours and culture.


With this wealth of experience, Christine has elevated the dining experience at Goodwins Hall, crafting menus that are both comforting and creative, tailored to delight the residents. Her dedication to quality and her love for cooking shine through.


Outside the kitchen, Christine enjoys watching Formula 1 and unwinding with a good book. She describes working at Goodwins Hall as a joy, saying, “I love working here for the lovely residents – it’s such a cheerful and friendly place to be.”

In 2024, we were delighted to welcome Caroline back to Goodwins Hall as a Unit Manager. She now leads one of our communities with warmth, professionalism, and a deep commitment to both residents and staff. Caroline is known for her hardworking nature and is truly loved by many.

Binla Baby joined Goodwins Hall in December 2023, shortly after earning her UK nursing pin. Originally arriving in the UK in 2022, she quickly established herself as a dedicated and compassionate nurse. Her clinical skills, calm presence, and genuine care for residents made her a valued member of the team from the start.


Through her hard work and passion for delivering excellent care, Binla progressed to the role of Unit Manager within the nursing community. Binla thrives in the supportive and collaborative environment at Goodwins Hall, where she continues to grow both personally and professionally.

Outside of work, Binla enjoys dancing, which brings her joy and balance. Her vibrant energy and positive spirit shine through in everything she does, both on and off the floor.
