A friendly and warm care home where all the staff are like family and go beyond the mile to ensure all the resident's needs are catered for. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they all make our family extremely welcome.
Thank you for your lovely comments; the team work extremely hard.
My dad was cared for at Overbury House Nursing and Residential Home from 24/7/23 to his passing on 10/9/23. Throughout this time all of the staff treated my dad with respect, dignity, compassion and cared for him as if he was a family member whilst providing practical and emotional support to me and my family. Dad spent his last few months being cared for by lovely staff and we the family fully supported throughout. As a family, we can't thank the team (Overbury family) enough for their care and support. From our hearts thank you.
Thanks.
Caring staff - very mixed, some highly responsive and proactive to the needs of residents and others not so.
Laundry - a difficult role with mixed clothing returned to the room and some not returned (all labelled), eg three single socks (labelled).
Overbury is a lovely home, and my relative is looked after and cared for very well by the amazing care staff who take time to ensure every effort is taken to provide all the care and support required. The staff and management team are always so friendly and caring and a lovely team, and I know they go the extra mile to provide an excellent home for my mother, who is very happy there. Thank you to you all for doing such a wonderful job.
Thank you for your lovely comments; we are so happy to hear you are happy with the care. I will pass your comments on to the staff.
For Mum, given her dementia and being bed-bound, the biggest issue is the inconsistency of good hygiene and cleanliness of the facility. On some visits, the room is clean and tidy, on others, we find food and drinks that may have been there for several days. The room on these occasions can also be dirty, and food residue on bed try and bedding. We think this is not good enough. The carers and manager are friendly and always listen; however, whilst implemented, changes do not necessarily continue.
Having visited several different care homes over the years, I can confidently give an extremely high review of Overbury House.
Thank you for your lovely comments. I will ensure they read these lovely comments.
My wife and I visited my sister, who has been a resident since June 2019, and I must say how well my sister is looking, and her health has improved over the last four years. I was very impressed with (my activities folder) which outlines all the activities she is doing at the care home and is available to view by all friends and relatives, and at no time that I have been visiting my sister have I seen any residents that are not being well cared for.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments; I will ensure I share with the staff.
The house itself is spacious, and my mum's upstairs room is light with a view of trees, which she loves. The staff are cheerful and helpful. I've been impressed that the staff generally know where my mum is and how she is. My mum has been nicely looked after. If I've had any queries or noticed anything I'm not happy with, I've found the staff team very responsive, and that has really impressed me. Thank you, Overbury House team!
Thank you for your lovely comments - comments like these are greatly appreciated and reinforce the great job the staff are doing.
In the time Mum has been at Overbury, we have found the staff to be pleasant and professional at all times; they are kind and caring and seem to be genuinely fond of our mum. It isn't just Mum that is cared for either; we are treated with kindness and compassion too. The staff always have time for us too. This means a lot.
Thank you so much for these lovely comments, the staff at Overbury work extremely hard and comments like this really make the staff happy and know they are appreciated for the work they do. Thanks once again.
I am very happy with the care my mother has received over the past 20 months. The staff are all knowledgable and remarkably kind not only to my mother but, also to my sister and myself. I cared for Mum myself for four years before she went to Overbury, so am probably more critical than most more so, as I am a trained nurse. Needless to say, I should not have worried. Each time I leave, I know Mum is in safe hands.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I will ensure I share these lovely comments with the staff.
My wife has dementia and was cared for with compassion and skill.
Thank you for your lovely comments about Overbury house.
Very pleasant and professional staff, always ave time for you even thought they are very busy. They took very good care of my friend who was quite challenging at times.
Thanks again.
My mum was discharged from hospital to Overbury House Nursing and Residental Home for a respite stay until we found a permanent home. The care mum (93 years old) received was beautiful. She enjoyed care and kindness when she was anxious and vulnerable. She never wanted to leave her own home. Overbury staff taught her that she could trust others to look after her. Every time I visited her she kept saying "everybody is so kind". Thank you Overbury
Thank you so much for your amazing comments, I am very proud of the Overbury team and will pass your comments to the staff.
Mum was a resident for a short-term placement. During this time she reviewed the kindest of care from all members of staff. Her care was a challenge but the patience and encouragement offered by staff was exemplary. A Wonderful nursing home.
Thank you for your lovely comments, I am very proud of the Overbury team.
Upon opening the front door, the freshness started there and continued throughout. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of my brother-in-law and the freshness of his bed etc. Details like his fingernails were spotlessly clean, and he was clean-shaven. I could not fault it. Due to other members of the family requiring care homes, I have visited several, and in my opinion, Obernury House comes out tops! The lady who we spoke to was very polite, and nothing too much trouble for her, she was very informative.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment; the staff work extremely hard.
Although my grandmother was only at Overbury House for four months and due to Covid restrictions, only had very limited visiting opportunities. On every occasion, I was able to visit, however, I found my gran very well cared for. All staff had taken the time to find out her wishes and preferences in her everyday living, despite her often being unable to say due to dementia and little contact with family. I believe she received the best possible care in her final few months to the best of their abilities.
Thank you for your lovely comments. I will ensure I pass them on to the staff.
I can't rate the staff enough for the care given to my husband during his five-year stay. They go above and beyond to make him settled and happy and treat him with dignity, despite some of his challenging behaviour at times. Over the last two years, they have worked very hard despite the exceptional strain the pandemic has had on staffing. I can't thank everyone at the home enough for all they do.
Thank you for your lovely comments. I am very proud of the team at Overbury. They have worked extremely hard, especially in the difficult times we have had. I will share your comments with the staff, thank you again.
My husband has been in Overbury since December 2021. The management and staff are always kind, polite and ready to help and always ring if there is a problem.
Thank you for your lovely comments, I am very proud of the Overbury team.
It was my first visit since the Covid pandemic. The home was fresh, clean and tidy. The manager was extremely welcoming and kind. All other members of staff we saw and spoke to were friendly and smiling. My uncle, who I was visiting, was so clean and cared for. Genuinely impressed by the care and kindness shown to him. Well done to all the team.
Thank you for your lovely comments, it was lovely meeting you. I did pass your lovely comments to the staff. Hope to see you both again soon.
The staff do a hard job in very difficult circumstances. They are enthusiastic and somehow keep a positive "can do" attitude.
Thank you for your lovely comments. I will pass them on to the staff

Meet the Team (2)

Alison decided to work at Healthcare Homes as she had heard amazing things about them and how they are expanding their company and it was something she wanted to be a part of.
Prior to starting at Overbury House, Alison has been an RGN for 13 years and has worked in the health care settings for 25 years. She worked at a Nursing home in North Walsham where she was the manager for 2 years.
She believes to be good in her role she should have good leadership skills, be compassionate, caring, understanding, experienced in health care and have qualifications.
The favourite part of her working day is when the residents are up and around, looking happy and content.
The biggest professional challenge in her career to date was assisting my last home in receiving a good rating across the board. There have been many challenges as a home manager but with a good team, they can be overcome.
Her biggest career highlight to date was completing her nursing degree and working her way up to Home Manager.
The qualities she thinks make a good home manager are being open and honest, supporting residents and staff, ensuring the residents receive a high standard of care.
Outside of work she loves spending time with her family. Her favourite past time is taking her two children and dog to the beach.
The things she is looking forward to the most about working at Overbury House is getting to know the residents and their families, ensuring all residents receive the best care and achieving a CQC rating of outstanding as I feel Overbury deserves it.

My biggest career highlight was the recognition of hard work and dedication and being promoted to Deputy Manager.
I enjoy all of my working day; the most rewarding part is being able to make a resident smile. I enjoy the day to day challenges of the job. Being able to make a difference to a resident’s day is most rewarding.
