After almost three years of weekly visits to my elderly friend at Brandon Park, I still leave in the reassurance that she is happy, settled, stimulated and cared for in a safe, comfortable environment. Her carers are kind, helpful and compassionate. Everyone is always ready to assist, giving her independence as well as support. I look forward to my visits with her in this "caring" care home, to which she says: "work so hard to make her days special".

Thank you so much for sharing your kind review! We agree that the home is spotlessly clean and always looks and smells fresh. We are so happy that this makes for such a good place for your brother-in-law to live and, of course, for you to come every week!

I thought Brandon was going to be my husband's only nursing home how wrong was I. A warning your relative can be given 28-days notice to vacate the home anytime. Obviously, profits are more important than the residents. The majority of the staff are excellent with a few individuals letting the home down. Management does not communicate with their staff and relatives. Communication and leadership require updating. Nutrition needs improvement and staff need to be educated. It is not appropriate to allow someone to go from 82.5kg to 62.5kg in 8 1/2 months. On speaking to the GP reference weight loss did his nutritional intake and weight gain improve yet 5 weeks previous when I spoke to management it was not acted upon or if they did it was not communicated. Knowing a resident is a diabetic why give biscuits, cake with their cups of tea resulting in high blood sugars which had an impact on his behaviour. A verbal and written handover to the new home had incorrect medical conditions which could have resulted in harm.

Reply from Ruth French, Director at Brandon Park

We are very sad to read your views. Whilst we will not share details of the care of your loved one publicly, it is clearly never our preferred route to give notice to any resident. Such a decision is given very rarely, and only with a huge amount of thought about whether the resident's needs can be...

The eighteen months that Dad spent at Brandon Park were filled with such extraordinary levels of care and support that my sister and I will be forever grateful.
Dad's overall health deteriorated gradually over the months and his ability to communicate with us declined as a result. What was always obvious was his level of comfort from seeing kind, friendly faces whenever the carers attended to him in our presence.
It was lovely to see pictures of Dad engaging with staff and other residents in a variety of activities. His love of music was well supported, as were his new-found skills as a baker.

As a family, we could not have asked more from the home, its staff or the community it created in challenging times for Dad and ourselves.

Receiving sad news, my friend had a very short time to live. She was fast-tracked into Brandon Park nursing care on 19th February. This was the first day of the vast improvement, the staff have given her excellent care tailored to her needs. She is encouraged into activities, which has proved therapeutic. Staff are dedicated, they give her time, she is encouraged to mix, she draws, sings, reads and now holds a conversation. The excellent care has grew of paramount importance in reflecting the very vast improvement in her. She now greets you with a smile. She had lost every movement, refused to eat and just lay in bed. Brandon Park has given her a new lease of life. Her much-improved health has reflected so much joy and gratitude. From me to each and every member involved in her care, thank you so much.

My dear mum has been a resident at Brandon Park since 2012.
The home has seen many changes over the years and each change improves beyond expectations. It is a ‘home from home’ for the residents. It also looks after the relatives and friends by making everyone welcome. The reception is bright, welcoming and comfy. The music room, lounge and dining areas are designed for comfort for all.
The rooms are nicely decorated and residents can have personal possessions like furniture, TV, and pictures to make it feel like their own space. The rooms, public areas and gardens are kept immaculate.
The food is chosen with care for choice and if there is nothing on the menu the resident fancies, there is the opportunity for something else of choice.
The staff are amazing and manage to juggle many things and all with a smile and treat residents respectfully.

I would definitely recommend Brandon Park as a safe, caring and friendly nursing home to my friends.

My mother was a resident at Brandon Park for the last six years of her very long life. The home was able to grant her final wish, which was to die peacefully and comfortably in her own bed. Thank you so much for the sensitive and caring way you treated Mum during her last days. I was kept informed at every stage and your care also extended to our family during that emotional time. All the staff including management nurses and caregivers showed genuine affection for Mother. Thank you so much.

My mum was looked after here for 4 weeks, she was treated with utmost kindness and care. All the staff were very professional and treated my mum with dignity at all times. The atmosphere here was homely and friendly. Mum's room had a beautiful view of the garden all the rooms were amazing. They provided care for me and my sister during the last few days of Mum's life, which helped us immensely. Thank you everyone at Brandon Park Nursing Home.

My mother was a resident in Brandon Park for the last 4 years of her long life.

She had a very happy time and enjoyed everything. She especially enjoyed the company of the carers who loved to spend time laughing, joking and singing with her as well as looking after her every need. Even when her health and mobility was failing, they managed to put a smile on her face and she felt very much at home until the end. As I don’t live nearby it was a great comfort to me to know she was being well looked after.

Everybody at Brandon Park was friendly and helpful. My mother was kept comfortable and well looked after in the difficult last few weeks of her life. Nurses and carers would always say hello and smile and the management staff were exceptionally good and always had time for me if I needed anything, or just needed some comforting words with regard to my mother's condition. They went the extra mile, if there was anything that my mother needed for her care. Finally, they were extra supportive, when the time came for my mother's passing and I needed a bit of looking after too. They were wonderfully sensitive, caring and helpful with what is one of the hardest transitions we are faced with in our lives. Their experience and know-how and willingness to see through processes thoroughly, without drama, were exemplary and it would be hard for me to imagine a better environment for my mother in her last days. Thank you, all of you, at Brandon Park.

Thank you to the staff of this establishment that were outstanding and enabled her to see out the last few weeks in total comfort and care. The staff are by far the best I have ever encountered, they are a pure asset to your home. Could my mother-in-law have wished for anything else? No, they go above and beyond what the person needs. I understand this task is trying, but they turn up and provide for those in their care. One thing further, thank you.

My Dad spent his final days at Brandon Park where he was always treated with great respect and dignity. All the staff are so caring and compassionate and nothing is too much trouble for them. Dad was always clean and shaved and even though he wasn’t fully aware of what was happening, the staff always spoke to him to explain what they were doing. My family couldn’t have wished for a better place for him to be in his final days. Can’t say enough good about all the staff.

My father has been in Brandon Park for just over one year, moving there directly from West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds. He has made wonderful progress in his time at Brandon Park and is much fitter and healthier than he was before entering hospital. He feels valued and cared for by the staff and regards them as his friends. He enjoys the interactions with the wide variety of staff and residents. His quality of life now is an improvement upon what he experienced before. I am very happy that we chose Brandon Park to be my father's home.

My mother sadly moved here over a year ago, but only sadly, as she is not with us, instead she is currently living at a fabulous place, that being Brandon Park Nursing Home. She is treated well by all the staff, who are all friendly, attentive and very professional, going above and beyond. This was especially appreciated when my dad visited and became unwell, due to his own condition. This is like a family looking after my parents, with the extra benefit of being friends too. It is often said that friends are family you choose for yourself, here at Brandon Park, they are friends who treat you like family, yet remaining professional respectful and courteous at all times. I never wanted to put my mother in a home, but this is a home from home and my mother's condition is beyond normal care for non-professionals. It is a pleasure to go to the wonderful setting that this place is and meet the delightful staff. I have nothing but praise for them and the service provided. Thank you, is not enough.

Mum has been at Brandon Park since June 2021. Prior to that Mum was living by herself, when it became apparent Mum was struggling to look after herself. Brandon Park was our first choice and since Mum has moved there, she’s gone from strength to strength, which has been fantastic to see. Brandon Park is located in a beautiful woodland setting, the view from Mum's room overlooks the gardens onto the park. Mum was encouraged to bring items from home, which has made her room very homely and comfortable. The staff are amazing they treat Mum with care, love and dignity, providing a safe and secure environment. Mum has Parkinson's, so it was very important that her medical issues were addressed. The nurses provide an invaluable service, which allows us peace of mind knowing Mum is well cared for. If you were to ask Mum what she likes best about Brandon Park, she would tell you… the staff, my room and the food. The transformation of Mum has been remarkable and it’s all down to the wonderful staff at Brandon Park.
