My son is taken care of very well at Melford Court and I know he is not the easiest of patients to deal with. His main answer to any suggestions that might help him is always no but when explained to him it could be a good idea he sometimes gives in. I appreciate all that is done to help him at Melford
Court and would like to thank everyone there for their patience with him. Thank you Melford Court. With much appreciation.

My parents-in-law went to Melford Court in November 2020 as they both had dementia and it was no longer safe for them to remain in the family home. They shared a suite for those few months they were together, which was super spacious and meant they could still eat and sleep together if they wanted to.
Sadly Dad passed away in March 2021, his end-of-life care at Melford Court was excellent we could not have asked more as a family. All the staff at Melford Court were very compassionate and helpful through this difficult time, especially as this was right in the middle of COVID.
Mum remains in Melford Court, we have moved her to a smaller room overlooking the garden and she is still being very well looked after. She celebrated her 90th Birthday last month and were able to be with her with Cards, Gifts and a Cake, although Mum was convinced she was way, way younger! I would definitely recommend Melford Court. The staff and facilities are outstanding!

All members of the team take a personal interest in my father's care and life in Melford Court. He is able to actively engage in activities with other residents which has enabled him to continue to make friends. Medical care has also been good when needed and feedback to me, as his son, is always speedy
and considered.
The quarterly update video calls are also much appreciated so we can hear what is happening in the home and the success of any new initiatives. My father calls his room 'home' which seems a good sign!

Very happy with my father in laws care.
Takes a load off our minds knowing he is being well looked after.
It's good to see the activities that take place on social media.
I am sure he will enjoy Christmas there.

The staff caring for my uncle from management through to carers were excellent in managing his pain and keeping him as comfortable as possible for the short time he was with them.
I was would like to pass on sincere thanks.

My mother was placed in Melford Court by the NHS, using one of their pre-paid beds as part of the hospital discharge plan. therefore, I am unable to comment on value for money as I had no involvement in the paying of the fees. The staff, both nursing and management were excellent and commuted to their
tasks. I was not able to visit as often as my mother was only there for 28-days, and for the first two of her stay, no visiting was allowed under Covid restrictions for new admissions, so my observations were limited.

Was disappointed with my husband's room and the view from his window, as he was bedridden. I felt his care for end of life could have been better. The care for long term care, I think was good.
Thank you to all who looked after my husband.
Reply from Ruth French, Director at Melford CourtThank you so much for the time you took to write a review. We are very happy that the long term care provided by the team met your expectations, and are sorry that the view was not optimum from your husband's bed. We are always happy to try and move people to new rooms, or move their room around to suit them better. Many thanks.

My family and I were pleased that my husband was going into Melford Court Care Home. He had a lovely room overlooking the main road. His health was not good but he was well looked after. The staff were very good to us, made us very welcome. and we could talk to them about him. The food was good as we
knew the cook, but as he had very little appetite he could not eat a lot, but he did his best. The cook tried to make things that he liked. We were very pleased that he had his final rest at Melford, he was very peaceful at the end.

I was completely satisfied with my mothers stay at Melford Court. She was treated kindly and with respect and made to feel as if she mattered. She was a fussy eater but her needs were quickly assessed and she really enjoyed her meals in pleasant surroundings (when Covid allowed). Her room was clean

My mother's care was excellent. All the care team went above their duty of care for her. As she was a very difficult and demanding person to look after. They put up with more than they should have, as she was not a mental state person. They were always there when I, myself needed information about my
mother and her so-called needs.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.749)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.749) out of 10 for Melford Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.799 for Melford Court is calculated as follows: ( (171 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 209 Ratings = 4.799
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Melford Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
