Oulton Park in Lowestoft provides person-centred care for older people in need of 24-hour Nursing Care and Dementia-led Nursing Care. Oulton Park also offers pre-bookable respite stays too.

Oulton Park also has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with Dementia. Memory Lane incorporates bespoke design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such as adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Residents living with Dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions, increase self-esteem and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.

Providing fresh home cooked food and life enrichment plays a strong part in the well-being of the residents at Oulton Park. Whether it is art, gardening or live music - activities are undertaken to ensure a resident continues to engage and enjoy themselves through meaningful activities. The home’s quiet garden and courtyard also offer the opportunity to escape and enjoy a quiet drink with a loved one.

What was obvious before and since by sister's admission was the attention to detail, the efficiency and the caring in the running of Oulton Park. For example, the initial contact was professional and so very helpful in quickly assessing a difficult care situation. The care centre is very welcoming,
attractively furnished and spacious. All staff have interacted in a reassuring way. The continuity of medical care has been much appreciated. My sister was adamant that she would not leave her house, but this week was saying 'I like it here'.

Mum went into Oulton Park in mid-October. All the staff are warm and welcoming. The food is very good. The care mum is receiving is excellent. Plenty of activities and social interaction. Her bedroom is spacious and the home is nicely decorated. Overall, mum's quality of life and mental well-being has
improved. I feel mum is safe and very well cared for. The management is excellent too.

Beautiful decor, always clean to high standard. All staff I have met have been approachable and helped with all questions etc. The home always smells nice, and facilities are appropriate and well maintained. The garden space is again beautiful, there are always things for residents to do if they wish.

My husband was in the home for 5 years and seven months. He has always been well cared for and the staff very helpful and patient as he could become argumentative and awkward as his illness progressed. He couldn't do anything for himself so needed lots of help and care. The manager, clerical staff and

My stepfather was looked after very well throughout his 5-year stay.
As his health declined he was bed bound for 4 years and his skin was intact throughout.
He was treated to food during the night if he was hungry and helped with all his care.
The staff treated us as a family and were always welcoming
and very kind to my Mum.
The present manager is excellent and has raised the standards throughout.

My Mum was in Oulton Park Care Home for a couple of months. She was recovering from a hip operation and also has Parkinsons' at the age of 91. Being very poorly, I can say the care home staff have made every endeavour to settle her in the home. All the nurses and care staff have been very attentive
to her considerable needs and have made sure all of the relevant professionals have been involved in securing the best outcome for Mum. The home has recently been refurbished and the garden is nice.

My mum moved into the care home about two weeks ago and already I can see that she is being well looked after. She is kept clean and well dressed by very attentive and friendly staff. Mum has problems with her diet and the staff are very helpful in trying to give her alternative food. She has a lovely

My mother-in-law has only been in the home for two weeks but in that short time, I have been really impressed with Oulton Park Care Home. The rooms are lovely and the impression is of being in your own home. I have to mention the staff, they are so helpful and very attentive to my mother-in-law who
is always clean and comfortable when we visit. They are always willing to help with any dietary issues she has. To sum up, we are very pleased with the care she is receiving.

My wife has been a resident now for approximately 18 months. I can't thank the care home enough for the way they have cared for my wife. The staff are all very attentive and she is kept nice and clean and well dressed. Her room is very light and airy and is kept immaculate, clean and tidy. The meals
are very good and residents have a choice of menu. If my wife has any health problems the Doctors and Nurses will be called if necessary. All in all, I am very happy with the care home.

I have been a resident for quite a few months and I am very contented and happy in the home. The carers ensure that I am very clean and given the option of what I want to wear each day. I am given a choice of meals and find them to be very good. The home provides activities that I can either join in
with or stay in my room if I so wish and can read or watch T.V. The carers are all very caring and helpful. My room has an ensuite and is kept very clean.

My dad has been a resident of Oulton Park Care Home since June 2020, when we had to make the difficult decision to place him into their care as we could no longer care for him at home safely. His care has been excellent. His many needs are met with respect and dignity and he has thrived under their
care. The staff and management have been so kind and helpful and always acting in a professional manner and evolving us in any decision regarding dads care. As a family, we cannot thank them enough for looking after dad and would not hesitate to recommend them as a care provider.

My uncle was placed in this care home in July 2020. All the information we were given sounded amazing so we were more than happy for him to reside there. He went downhill a lot in that first year and we never really got an explanation for as to why. He did have some health issues and certainly, lockdown
didn’t help. However after visiting this home for a long time, I would like to say how different it has become since the new manager has returned. From the moment you enter the home now, it feels different and now when we ask to speak to the staff about anything, they have been more forthcoming. I do feel that my uncle is being looked after better now and cannot praise the staff enough, each one I have spoken to has been pleasant which helps put my mind at ease when I leave so I hope this continues to improve.

Due to Covid it is difficult to give a concise review of Mums care situation. Most of my communication with staff has been over the phone, but this said the staff have been very helpful in providing me with updates of my Mums health and medical issues. My mum is settled and calm and is not anxious with
her surroundings which reflects the care she is given. I talk with Mum ofter but best are the visits which we have in the beautiful gardens, she is always pleasantly dressed and looking attractive. We are very happy with the quality of care at Barchester Oulton Park Care Home

I have been involved with Oulton Park for approximately 4 years. My father spent his final 2 years there, where he was very happy and well cared for. All staff working together for the good of the residents. I have continued to visit (until Covid) to entertain with local history and cooking demonstrations.

David Leaper

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

My name is David and I joined Barchester Healthcare in 2024 as a Deputy General Manager. I have been fortunate and privileged to start in the role of General Manager of Oulton Park Care Centre in 2025.


I have been a nurse for more than 20 years, spending most of my time working in community nursing services throughout Norfolk and Suffolk. I have a wide range of experience both clinically and in leadership and try to foster a friendly and approachable manner in my daily work. Having trained in Suffolk, I obtained my nursing diploma, then obtained a first-class degree in Primary Care Nursing through the UEA.


I am passionate about providing person-centred care, and hope to support this as a core ethos in the home, ensuring that the people we care for, and their relatives and advocates, are listened to and included when planning the care that we deliver. The people we care for should feel that this is their home from home, and I am keen to do what I can to support this.
