Our dear mother developed Alzheimer's 8 years ago at age 88 years old and by her 92nd birthday, she needed residential care. We are so blessed that Brook View was in our village West Moors and offered the top draw care and full support for her condition, which became worst over the last two years of
her life. The staff in every department were amazing and gave our dear mum the best nursing care to end of life. The dignity, to see her life out at Brook View, was, for our family a major part of our being able to cope with her loss. Mum was part of a large family, which extended to us as well. We will always remember the team at Brook View with fondness. Our personal thanks from the whole family and especially her sons. God bless you all.

Both of our parents (81 and 86) joined Brook View in May 2022 and they couldn't be happier! Both are still very active and love joining in as many activities as possible and sitting in the garden on sunny days. As a family, we are delighted with the care, attention, support and variety of options
available on a daily basis and they seem to be doing more now than they did in their own home - Dad is loving the "hotel" he now lives in! The staff are fantastic, extremely caring and friendly providing specific support for the individual needs of both parents and us as a family. Brook View and the whole team are highly recommended by us and thank you all for looking after our parents so well.

Brook View is an amazing place. Run on the lines of a 5-star hotel, but with extra facilities such as medical, entertainment, outdoor activities including visits to places of interest and musical entertainment in the evenings. The staff are all excellent and go about their work in a very professional
way. All of the rooms are well furnished and comfortable. My wife and I have booked in permanently we are so impressed with the organisation of the rest home.

Have settled well since coming here in May 2022. The staff are very friendly and kind. Lovely room with a very good view of the beautiful garden. One of the main attractions for coming here. Excellent dining room with very good and varied food. Enjoy outings with good caring drivers and companions interesting
and varied activities. Plenty of shared space for sitting outside in the very hot weather cooled by a view of the fishpond.

The first impressions were excellent. Very tidy, clean, well organised and welcoming. Sadly, many of the residents are rather non-communicative, so this was a disappointment for my generally, very outgoing and sociable mum, now 96 years old, who lives in a warden attended flat with a group of generally
younger friends. We shall, however, have no hesitation in booking a further two weeks in September, as we are confident that her care will be excellent.

When my aunt had a stroke, the staff spotted it straight away and got her to the hospital. More strokes followed and as it became clear that she was coming to the end of her life, the care became immense. As I live a long way away I was updated by phone and when the last evening came, they helped me
talk to my Aunt by phone. They were with her to the end when I couldn't be and I am so grateful. Care really means care at this care home.

My mother thoroughly enjoyed her stay at Brook View. She also spoke very highly of the staff, the facilities, activities etc. In fact, she was happy with everything, so much so she will be going back for further respite care in a few months.

Today 25/9/21 we visited our friend at Brook View. We had an outside meeting and I feel it is important that to say how very kind the receptionist was to us. She brought us tea which was very appreciated but not only that, she even provided my husband with a gluten-free biscuit as he is coeliac and
I had some cake. We were very impressed.

This is a very lovely home. I have been very happy here. The staff here helped me so much to get settled. I have been surprised by how much they help each other at busy times. It is also a very clean place, cleaners keeping things sparkling. The nursing staff have advised me how to look after my leg
which can be a nuisance. They have a lovely home here.

Really felt that we, as a family, did not matter and staff were patronising and often talk down to us, the family. I would not recommend this nursing home. The food was very poor quality and no one to help my mother to help eat.

Our brother resided at Brook View for the last 3 years of his life and we have been so impressed with the kindness and compassion shown to him. My wife is from a nursing background and very much recognises the importance of person-centred care and Brook View did not disappoint on this. There is a strong
ethos in the home on valuing the individual and every single member of the team delivered on this. The last year was particularly difficult for him due to Covid restrictions but staff did their best to support him in whatever way they could. They facilitated contact with us, his only family, via Skype, room visits with PPE or through a screen in the garden room and we were always kept fully informed throughout his time with them. Of note was the staff's support in the last weeks of his life where he was treated with such loving care, respect, and dignity.

Brookview could not have done more for dad and me to make his short stay comfortable and welcoming.
I was treated like an old friend and greeted by name whenever I called. The staff were so supportive of me in a difficult time which asked me to be able to enjoy my dad's company despite covid restrictions.

My mother was admitted to Brook View following a severe attack of sciatica which left her completely unable to look after herself, and needed hospital attention followed by rest.
My mother's first impression was that she had come into a top-class hotel and she was bowled over by the kindness and friendliness
of the staff. She loved the food and she ate more than she has eaten in a long time so much so that she left the care home after six weeks of care with a few more extra pounds of weight.
The reason she came to the home was achieved and she did recover enough to be able to resume her life back at home, for which she is forever grateful to the home for making it possible.
She had one issue that she constantly complained about and that was her ability to take food supplements but as she was an out of hospital resident, her medication was as prescribed by the doctors and they would not allow her the tablets that she usually took for fear of contraindication.

Mum had been in Brook View 11 months when they went into lockdown. I had no concerns about the wonderful care mum would go on receiving while her family couldn't visit. Mum enjoyed all the delicious meals which were beautifully presented and chosen from the daily menus. The standards of her personal
laundry and cleaning were impeccable. The home did all they could with Skype calls, including her birthday celebrations and I was always contacted in relation to any change in her care needs.
Unfortunately in early July mum's health deteriorated, the nursing staff involved me in all decisions and the care and compassion they gave her were of a truly exceptional standard. Her family were allowed to be with her and we saw how deeply the staff felt and cared about mum which was such a huge comfort to us.
Brook View has the most wonderful staff who all contribute to it making it a very special home of the highest standards and they really get to know the residents by caring and treating them as family.

My Aunt was a resident at Brook View for 3 years. She made many friends there. The Home was always welcoming and clean. We live many miles away but whenever we visited we were always made welcome and often joined Auntie and her friends to eat lunch in the lovely dining room, the food was always very
good, with varied choices. Auntie always enjoyed the varied activities at the home and especially the excursions. Sadly my Aunt recently passed away, not due to Covid, but because of this, we were not able to be with her. During this time the staff gave my Aunt great care, being with her when we were unable to be, for this special care the family will always be grateful.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.792)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.792) out of 10 for Brook View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.892 for Brook View is calculated as follows: ( (191 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 4.892
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brook View is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
