We are really happy with the care that my Mum is receiving. As I live a long way away from Dorset now, it is a huge relief to know that she is safe, warm and well cared for. Thanks to all the staff at St. James for your dedication and professionalism.
All staff are invariably friendly and helpful and they clearly provide a high standard of care. They have coped admirably and patiently with the challenging behaviour of the resident concerned. The dedication of the staff deserves high praise.
My father went into St James' due to needing 24-hour nursing care. From the first meeting with the Manager, the home visit, meeting the lady in finance and his arrival on move in day, we were made to feel very welcome. The home itself is well maintained, warm, clean and secure. It is an old building surrounded by tall trees. The rooms vary in size. The food options were freshly cooked. Every member of the staff were polite, smile, willing and genuinely seemed to care. We were especially grateful to Jake who dressed and shaved my father in his final days and treated him with dignity. Our most grateful thanks go to the nurse on site who always greeted myself and my sister with a smile, a gentle update on my father's deteriorating health and genuinely cared about my Dad and us. The home came highly recommended and I can see why. We have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Thank you for the care you showed us after my father sadly passed away, much appreciated.
I enjoyed my stay in St James'. The care and kindness shown to me was excellent from all members.
All the staff are very pleasant and respond to my bell ringing for attention at a reasonable time.
As regards to cleanliness, to me it's very good indeed, both the rooms, bed linen, my personal clothes and my personal cleanliness. I look forward to each day, also the chef inspired meals are very good and tasty indeed.
Management and staff very good, look after dad's needs very well. Always very helpful and accommodating.
Very friendly, always welcoming especially the manager. The residents are very well cared for.
The food is good and the accommodation is clean and comfortable. Work is carried out with happy smiles, care and attention. I am always made to feel cared for and at home. Whatever request I make because of my disabilities and inabilities. Brilliant entertainment from craft work to visiting singers and TV's are provided. Trips away are possible also, we are all jollied along with keenness to cater for individual interests. My visitors are always welcomed and happy, previous residents come back to visit. The unpleasant caring tasks are carried out with happy patience!
Mum appears very happy. Staff are wonderful to her. Always laughing and joking with her, as Mum loves banter. Recently, Mum has been getting up in a chair, which is an amazing achievement. Also, spent time out in the garden. Staff are friendly, and we are made to feel welcome.
St James felt like home immediately. My large room is getting more like home every day, what with sorting my stuff from home, plenty of room to give my favourite bits of old favourites and old friends pieces of furniture and other familiar things such as my radio, lamps, pot plants and pieces of furniture completed the feeling of home, which is exciting, just what I was hoping for, so many thanks. I can't tell who many of the staff are just wish they wore name tags. Activity ladies do something every afternoon that patients can take part in or not but always something they've put a lot of thought into. As for the food - very good. No complaints at all.

When he died, the level of compassion and empathy, we received was truly wonderful. We will be eternally grateful to the lovely manager and her wonderful staff. Many thanks.
Overall we would rate the home as excellent.
The staff were excellent, caring and courteous to my husband and to myself and my family when visiting.
My husband was treated with kindness and consideration throughout his stay with you. He is not an easy man in new situations but was given every care from all the staff. His room was warm and comfortable and we are all very grateful for the attention he received.
Due to the distance I live away, I don't get to see my sister very often so it is very reassuring to always find her looking well and in good spirits when I visit, the staff are always helpful if rather limited in number on occasions. Overall, the management, staff and facilities are more than I had ever expected of a care home.
Lovely welcome on arrival. Always looks very clean and tidy. Mum is very happy here and well looked after. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. A very calm and quiet environment. Staff work well as a team and very well-organised. Lovely manager and staff. Highly recommended.
We are so grateful for the wonderful support everyone at St James' gave to our mum in the last year of her life. All the staff were kind, positive and friendly. They gave so much time to us, helping us through a very difficult period. Many, many thanks.
My mum is so happy and is a different person. Got my mum back thanks to all your lovely staff.
I have been made to feel very welcome when I have visited my mother. My mother has settled in very well and is happy. The staff are all very friendly.
Shame about the management. I have never been so rudely spoken to or threatened in all my life.
Dear SB, Thank you for you review; we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We appreciate your positive comments about the Home.
We have discussed your additional feedback with the Home Manager directly and the manager assures us, it was not her intention to...

Home Manager at St James’ Park, Bridport
What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?
“Kindness means sharing, caring, and treating people the same.”
As a Registered Nurse, Mihaela has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.
Mihaela closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Mihaela remarked:
“Being a manager is an incredible, eye-opening experience that will teach you so many things. My secret recipe is love. I love my Residents and my Colleagues. Everyone has good qualities that, if appreciated, will grow. I like taking the time to discover these daily.”
Mihaela describes her proudest achievement as when she got her nurse registration. She loves being a nurse, looking after people and giving them comfort.
Outside of work, Mihaela enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures. She also spends a lot of time with her family, including her son.
