Each member of the professional team at St James' is on hand to support residents and their loved ones in any way they need. Whether it is the start of your care journey and you're considering your options or if you're looking for more complex care due to changing needs, with a wealth of knowledge and experience they are there to help make the process as simple as possible.

The care team at the home have a real focus on personalised care. Respecting that each resident brings their own history and experience, they work alongside the individual, and their loved ones, to deliver a care plan that they feel comfortable with, addressing both physical and mental wellbeing needs.

The food is good and the accommodation is clean and comfortable. Work is carried out with happy smiles, care and attention. I am always made to feel cared for and at home. Whatever request I make because of my disabilities and inabilities. Brilliant entertainment from craft work to visiting singers
and TV's are provided. Trips away are possible also, we are all jollied along with keenness to cater for individual interests. My visitors are always welcomed and happy, previous residents come back to visit. The unpleasant caring tasks are carried out with happy patience!

Mum appears very happy. Staff are wonderful to her. Always laughing and joking with her, as Mum loves banter. Recently, Mum has been getting up in a chair, which is an amazing achievement. Also, spent time out in the garden. Staff are friendly, and we are made to feel welcome.

St James felt like home immediately. My large room is getting more like home every day, what with sorting my stuff from home, plenty of room to give my favourite bits of old favourites and old friends pieces of furniture and other familiar things such as my radio, lamps, pot plants and pieces of furniture
completed the feeling of home, which is exciting, just what I was hoping for, so many thanks. I can't tell who many of the staff are just wish they wore name tags. Activity ladies do something every afternoon that patients can take part in or not but always something they've put a lot of thought into. As for the food - very good. No complaints at all.

Though my husband only had a short time to live, when he arrived at the home, he was welcomed in with sincere warmth and every effort was made to engage with him and to make him as comfortable as possible. As his condition rapidly deteriorated, was treated with great dignity and care. The staff were
very kind and supportive with our family and me.
When he died, the level of compassion and empathy, we received was truly wonderful. We will be eternally grateful to the lovely manager and her wonderful staff. Many thanks.

My husband was treated with kindness and consideration throughout his stay with you. He is not an easy man in new situations but was given every care from all the staff. His room was warm and comfortable and we are all very grateful for the attention he received.

Lovely welcome on arrival. Always looks very clean and tidy. Mum is very happy here and well looked after. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. A very calm and quiet environment. Staff work well as a team and very well-organised. Lovely manager and staff. Highly recommended.

We brought in our neighbour for two weeks' respite. The staff have worked miracles with her! She is eating and sleeping well now and is so much more cheerful. She has now decided to stay and seems very settled. Thank you to everyone.

Our elderly aunt fell just before Christmas, chipping her hip and badly breaking her arm. After caring for her at our home, we realised she needed full-time care. St James' offered her a place, and we took her there on Christmas Eve. She stayed there for two and a half months. She loved it, "just like
a holiday". She received outstanding care in a warm and friendly environment. Home-cooked food and a can-do attitude. She has now regained her health and confidence and is back home.

I really cannot fault St James' Park Care Home. They all work so hard, and I know my nan is safe, looked after and is taken care of.
The manager is an absolute star, and she is the heart of the home.
I live over 30 mins from the home and can't always visit weekly, but knowing my nan is happy and
in safe hands really reassures me.

From the moment I came to visit, I could tell this was a very nice loving home, very caring. The staff are wonderful. It must be very difficult sometimes. The manager is so kind and caring. In all, excellent.

Mum has had a very positive first respite stay. Couldn't have been more helpful, kind and caring. She enjoyed the many activities, especially the music and especially getting a real bath. Very many thanks for your wonderful care of Mum.

After a difficult two years due mainly to Covid and many staffing problems, things now seem to be much improved and settled due largely to the new appointment of the home manager. The hotel, kitchen and maintenance staff are brilliant, as are the nucleus of permanent carers. Staffing has been an issue,
but I believe this is nationwide.

My father is currently at St James Park. My mother was there until her passing in Jan 2021. I have nothing but good things to say about the facility. The care has been outstanding, the facility is always clean, and the residents are content or happy. We have spent many days at the home visiting my parents,
and the quality of care has not suffered during the Covid emergencies. The facility has a lovely view from the back garden and covered tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the summer and autumn days. The food service has been consistent, and a variety of food has been available. We have spent many days in the lounge rooms watching TV, and there seems to be regular entertainment, from singers to games to visits by animal keepers.
All in all, the atmosphere is pleasant and I believe quite above standard for care homes.
As far as improvements go, the staff seem a bit undermanned and are working very hard to keep up the level of service.
I would be pleased to see a few more staff.

“Kindness means sharing, caring, and treating people the same.”


As a Registered Nurse, Mihaela has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Mihaela closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Mihaela remarked:


“Being a manager is an incredible, eye-opening experience that will teach you so many things. My secret recipe is love. I love my Residents and my Colleagues. Everyone has good qualities that, if appreciated, will grow. I like taking the time to discover these daily.”


Mihaela describes her proudest achievement was when she got her nurse registration. She loves being a nurse, looking after people and giving them comfort.


Outside of work Mihaela enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures. She also spends a lot of time with her family, including her son.
