We brought in our neighbour for two weeks' respite. The staff have worked miracles with her! She is eating and sleeping well now and is so much more cheerful. She has now decided to stay and seems very settled. Thank you to everyone.

Our elderly aunt fell just before Christmas, chipping her hip and badly breaking her arm. After caring for her at our home, we realised she needed full-time care. St James' offered her a place, and we took her there on Christmas Eve. She stayed there for two and a half months. She loved it, "just like a holiday". She received outstanding care in a warm and friendly environment. Home-cooked food and a can-do attitude. She has now regained her health and confidence and is back home.

I really cannot fault St James' Park Care Home. They all work so hard, and I know my nan is safe, looked after and is taken care of.
The manager is an absolute star, and she is the heart of the home.

I live over 30 mins from the home and can't always visit weekly, but knowing my nan is happy and in safe hands really reassures me.

Mum has had a very positive first respite stay. Couldn't have been more helpful, kind and caring. She enjoyed the many activities, especially the music and especially getting a real bath. Very many thanks for your wonderful care of Mum.

After a difficult two years due mainly to Covid and many staffing problems, things now seem to be much improved and settled due largely to the new appointment of the home manager. The hotel, kitchen and maintenance staff are brilliant, as are the nucleus of permanent carers. Staffing has been an issue, but I believe this is nationwide.

My father is currently at St James Park. My mother was there until her passing in Jan 2021. I have nothing but good things to say about the facility. The care has been outstanding, the facility is always clean, and the residents are content or happy. We have spent many days at the home visiting my parents, and the quality of care has not suffered during the Covid emergencies. The facility has a lovely view from the back garden and covered tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the summer and autumn days. The food service has been consistent, and a variety of food has been available. We have spent many days in the lounge rooms watching TV, and there seems to be regular entertainment, from singers to games to visits by animal keepers.
All in all, the atmosphere is pleasant and I believe quite above standard for care homes.
As far as improvements go, the staff seem a bit undermanned and are working very hard to keep up the level of service.

I would be pleased to see a few more staff.

The new home manager is lovely, and now an administrator has been posted, I would highly recommend St James' Park. Carers are all pleasant to me, and Mum is no longer end-of-life, as they ensure she eats and drinks. Thank you.

My mother was a resident st St James' Park for palliative care for the last two weeks of her life, and from the welcome we received when we first visited Mum to the sad time we left after saying our final goodbye, we were impressed by both the staff and environment. We were always made to feel welcome and kept informed about Mum's health and care. We felt secure in the knowledge that Mum was being well looked after in a home that put caring first, treating both Mum and us with sensitivities, compassion and respect. We would like to thank all involved with Mum's care.

Since Feb 11th 2022, I have found after getting used to the daily routine, the nurses and females to be helpful, friendly and considerate alike. The cleaning staff do well in keeping the room and bedlinen reasonably fresh. Also, the food programme is pleasant, tasty and enjoyable.

St Jame's Park is a welcoming, beautiful building in an amazing location with lovely views and gardens.
The friendly and welcoming manager and staff have really helped to make this difficult transition for my husband and myself as smooth and easy as possible, particularly during this very difficult pandemic situation. The home is spotlessly clean, and the procedures in place to control Covid are very reassuring.
The food looks delicious, and my husband enjoys his meals, often telling me about how good the cook is! The manager and the staff obviously care about the needs of all of their residents and treat them all as individuals looking out for their needs and well-being.

I am so glad that my husband is being so well cared for in such a beautiful location and cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone looking for a special place for their relative.

The manager and carers are always very polite and welcoming. Any concerns or queries we have are always dealt with straight away. I and my family fully appreciate the difficult circumstance that the Covid pandemic has presented to St James' and all care homes. We're very happy and reassured how our dear mum is being looked after.

My mother has been at St James' since temporarily moving from the hospital in Sept. She is happy here, and has a radiant glow, which is lovely to see. The staff are all friendly, and greet you making you feel most welcome. The home itself is spotless clean, and has peaceful environs. Her room is a very good size and feels homely with lovely views. The food looks exceptional... proof of the pudding must be in the eating, as my mother has put on weight! The carers themselves seem to go that extra mile, and it is clear to see that they work here because they care and show great empathy. Dignity and respect are evident throughout. All in all, we would recommend this home to anyone. A special mention must go to one particular staff member, who we feel is a fantastic asset to the home too. Thank you.

Both my mother and father were both residents at St James' Park, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I visited a dozen homes before choosing St James' Park for them, and it stood out from the rest due to the décor, furnishings, facilities and cleanliness, and the care and attention shown by the manager from the outset. It's also a nursing home so, despite my father's poor health, they could remain together.
The care my parents were given and the kindness shown to them was outstanding by all the staff, but especially by the manager and the clinical lead. This was in sharp contrast to their previous homes.
Although my father was on a pureed diet, my mother said the food was excellent.

Sadly, my father passed away there, but he received wonderful nursing care right until the end in a lovely room with wonderful views. And after he passed, the compassion shown by all the staff to us all was very touching.

Home Manager at St James’ Park, Bridport

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Kindness means sharing, caring, and treating people the same.”

As a Registered Nurse, Mihaela has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.

Mihaela closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Mihaela remarked:

“Being a manager is an incredible, eye-opening experience that will teach you so many things. My secret recipe is love. I love my Residents and my Colleagues. Everyone has good qualities that, if appreciated, will grow. I like taking the time to discover these daily.”

Mihaela describes her proudest achievement as when she got her nurse registration. She loves being a nurse, looking after people and giving them comfort.

Outside of work, Mihaela enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures. She also spends a lot of time with her family, including her son.
