We were impressed by every member of staff that we came into contact with during my mother's stay. In terms of their kindness, empathy, respect for their residents and approachability, nothing was too much trouble and they tried every means to keep my mother comfortable, including special trips to the
local shops to buy drinks they thought she might tolerate. Living a distance away from my mother, I was confident and reassured that she was being extremely well cared for. We could not have hoped for better. As a family, it was the best environment for my mother to be in, as her illness took its toll.

Both from a caring on a daily basis and nursing the standard and performance is excellent. Communication from the home to affected family is extremely good. There is a great friendly atmosphere at all times which enhances the feeling between all parties. There is a very high degree of consideration
for well being and continuous discussion with close family members leading to a high degree of confidence in all staff and services.
Would recommend this to all. Has a very high reputation in town.

My mother has excellent care over the last 5 years. Recently when she suffered a stroke this was effectively dealt with throughout. The first class staff conducted themselves in an exemplary manner with love and care always shown. It would be very hard to beat the team working at Whitecliffe they are
outstanding.

My father was taken in by Whitecliffe on 20th February on respite care after the hospital failed to establish a care package within 2 weeks of his recovery. From the start, they catered to his every need and almost brought him back to his pre-hospitalisation state. After two weeks he went into terminal
decline and I cannot fault the care and attention he received over the following month, until his death on 29th March. I am so grateful for this. He finally died in their company even with one of his nurses singing to him! I have always been against nursing homes but Whitecliffe House has changed my mind. Thank you all (expensive but worth it!).

All the staff seem friendly and efficient and have dealt with all my father's problems very well. It must be difficult to comply with his wishes, as due to dementia, they are not always in his best interests (eg nothing to eat) but despite these issues, I have noticed a marked improvement in his condition
in the last two days. The acid test of any organisation is "Are the staff good at what they do?" in the month that I have been visiting my father at this establishment, I would answer with an empathic "yes".

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.894)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.894) out of 10 for Whitecliffe House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Whitecliffe House is calculated as follows: ( (203 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 215 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitecliffe House is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
