We certainly wouldn’t choose for Mum to be in a nursing home, but that decision has been taken from us and it isn’t possible for her to live at home. This has been a difficult journey for all of the family, but made all the easier because of the care she receives at Castleford Nursing Home. To know that she is cared for in the same way as we want to care for her is reassuring. The staff at Castleford Nursing Home are attentive, caring, compassionate and empathetic. It really is like having extended family who are not only there for Mum, but the rest of the family too. Every member of staff, kitchen, cleaning, care, lifestyles, nursing and management, are approachable and willing to help. My mum loves them all and thank goodness they have a sense of humour, it is certainly needed at times. Thank you to you all.

All the staff are magnificent and work incredibly hard. They all have a great relationship with the residents and make them feel at home, whilst understanding each resident's difficulties.
In what is a very difficult job/career, all the staff certainly put in the extra mile.

Thank you.

I moved my mother from another care home on the south coast of England to be nearer me. I was also very unhappy with the care she was receiving at that home. Since arriving at Castleford House Care Home, my mum’s physical and mental health have improved greatly. I feel she is incredibly well cared for and is treated with dignity. Every time I visit she is clean and well-dressed, it looks as if someone has taken the time to think about her appearance which is so important for people who have always cared about how they are presented. My mum doesn’t often want to join in with events but she is always encouraged to and if I want to arrange to take her out the home is always happy to facilitate. The home is always clean and welcoming and there is no attempt to hide the fact that is the resident’s home. When you walk in the entrance you can see the residents being cared for and included, in her previous home it felt as if the residents were being hidden. I am very happy with the care my mum is receiving.

The decision to put Mum into a care home was so difficult. We moved Mum to Castleford House after three months in a previous home where the care was poor. The difference is amazing. The staff are so caring, committed and friendly. We have seen an improvement in Mum's speech and her mood in the short time she has been at Castleford House. The level of care is fantastic and the encouragement and patience from the staff is outstanding. The manager and his team are all wonderful.

Handing care over of a loved one is the most heart-wrenching thing. My family have had to do this twice, both with my dad and then my mum. Both of them are at Castleford receiving the most wonderful care that we could wish for. The care, support and commitment of the staff and management are second to none and continues to amaze us with the lengths they go to ensure the best quality of life possible for the residents. You only have to look at the nominations and awards won of late to realise the high standards Castleford offers. The staff at Castleford are now like our extended family, and we will be forever grateful for everything they do not just for my mum and dad, but also for my family. There is always an array of activities provided to accommodate all levels of capabilities of the residents, resulting in wonderful smiles and photos for families to treasure.

My mum has been in Castleford for a year with a two-month lapse. I admitted her to another home nearer to me and her own home. Big mistake, the room lovely, the views and countryside wonderful, staff and food terrible. Big learning curve for me. So I was very lucky that Castleford readmitted her where the care is second to none, the approach to each other as well as all the residents cannot be faulted; it truly is home from home.
There is always something going on for them to be involved in, whether it's trips out or special times indoors.

Thank you so much to all the staff at Castleford, your lifesavers.

My father came to Castleford for end of life care for cancer in 2019, and he received wonderful, caring treatment prior to his death. Now my mother, who has advanced vascular dementia, has just moved in, and my family selected Castleford due to the excellent care given to our father. Two and a half years later, many of the same staff are here and remembered us and Dad. This is the only place we wanted Mum to come as we knew they specialise in dementia, and she would be treated kindly and respectfully. There are lots of activities for the residents and lovely gardens to walk or sit in. It is well run, and I'm impressed that the manager is looking at ways to improve the quality of the resident's life here and the standard of care.

I was worried about moving my mother into a care home following bad experiences of other care homes with my father and mother-in-law. Castleford House Care Home is completely different and I am delighted that we have found them. The variety of fantastic activities they undertake give such immense pleasure in the moment that it has transformed my mum's life. Whether it's fake tattoos to satisfy a naughty bucket list yearning, trips to the seaside for fish and chips and an ice cream on a blustery day, or facilitating a theatre trip to see her grandson perform, this team think outside the box. Thank you Castleford House for making my mum's later life be filled with surprising fun rather than repetition and drudgery. You are a very special team.

It is usually a very sad time when the decision has to be made to send a loved one into the care of someone else, however, because of the love and support that Castleford House Care Home offers this desicion is made so much easier. The care offered is like that of an extended family as is the genuine love shown to the residents. The amazing effort that goes into organising events is second to none - truth be told it is better than what anyone at home could offer. I can honestly say there have been numerous occasions when I have been jealous of both the activities undertaken and the amazing food - such as pizza and cheesecake days! How many times has anyone ever thought - I wish I was there - when referring to a care home? Well done Castleford House Care Home - a 'home' from home!

My nan came to Castleford House Care Home after my grandad passed last June. She has Alzheimer’s and needed one to one care as she can hardly do anything for herself. Before she went to Castleford she was deteriorating very quickly. However, since being at Castleford she has improved and we noticed a change so quickly. She is very happy and we can all clearly see she loves the atmosphere in the home with all the activities she can watch and friendly staff.

I have only visited once as I live three hours away but this one visit was enough to see this was the perfect place for my nan. The staff were so welcoming upon arrival and I noticed how caring, helpful and attentive they are to all their residents. We were able to take my nan into the beautiful garden they have and spend some time together as a family which was so special. As I am not local to Castleford and it’s quite difficult to visit, I love the fact that they are regularly posting on their Facebook page with photos of the residents.

This care home is exactly as the title says. A home from home which provides so much genuine love, care and attention to all residents and the family of the residents.
My dad is looked after like a dad, a brother, a grandad and is so happy and content which is all we ever want. He has trips out, sing songs, great activities and just time and love from all the staff, not just the carers. Also, my mum and us, as a family, are also cared for as we are also going through the toughest journey ever.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, the team always go over and above. We can’t ask for more and always highly recommend this place to everyone who is going through a similar, hardest decision of their lives. But it is the best decision for our loved ones, both Dad suffering and Mum suffering. Dad's very happy and that’s a true reflection of the love and care given by his extended family at Castleford House Care Home.

You are all truly amazing and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

An extremely well-run home where my mum is so well looked after, I never have to worry about her. Management and staff are so friendly, as well as professional, and care for visiting family and friends is also superb. Due to the Covid pandemic, it has not been easy for them, however, they have adhered to the guidelines in every respect and there is now light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you team.

Castleford House Care Home has an ingenious vibe, the team are innovative, energetic and they care. My most recent communication was sensitive and thought-provoking. However, the content of the conversation, albeit sensitive, was carried out thoughtfully and with empathy.
Since moving to Castleford, my cousin has received the most appropriate care; he has been nurtured and the care delivery has been exceptional. His response has been one of calm, enjoyment and participation in many activities arranged 'in house'. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and I wish I could move my mum in!

Thank you staff, you are all angels.

My nanny has been a resident at Castleford House Care Home since December 2021 after she was moved from another care home where we weren't satisfied with the care she was receiving. In the short time she has been there, Nanny is a completely different person, the sparkle is back in her eyes, she is eating better and she is just doing so well and I firmly believe it is down to the genuine love and care she is receiving. She has been engaged in person-centred activities, most recently going to Barry Island for fish and chips and ice cream despite the terrible weather and she smiled the whole time! I am so happy that Nanny is finally being looked after with the dignity and care she deserves.

My mum joined the Castleford House Care Home family in December 2021 following a traumatic period of hospitalisation and time in a temporary home. From the moment she was collected and bought to Castleford, the manager and his team have done absolutely everything they can to welcome her, meet her needs, tailor her care and ensure her experience of living is a joyful and enriched one.
The dedication, care and love shown, alongside the respect for her and the communication with us as a family has made her life and ours a very happy one.

Castleford as a care home should be rated 11 out of 10!

I previously worked as a heavy plant operator, a JCB driver, a boarding manager at Lafarge Plasterboard and was then manager at Critchcraft Tiles.

One of my favourite things about my role is seeing people smile after a job is done. I find that this role is different to the other jobs I've had, it's a bit of a challenge for me. I think the ability to learn and fix a variety of tasks, many being quite challenging, is one of my strengths.

I think that one of Castleford House's biggest achievements is getting the overall "Outstanding" CQC rating. When I'm stressed I tend to go clay pigeon shooting or blame the wife (and then buy her some flowers afterwards).

At Castleford there's always help at hand if you need it. Being part of the team allows me to achieve so many things in my role.
