Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I'm very pleased with The Old Vicarage. Their care of my mother has been exemplary. Daria has kept us well informed when my mother was unwell. Mum has been out on trips with staff and thoroughly enjoyed herself which is something that we as family could not do with her when she was resident at home.
Reply from Daria Koeller, manager at The Old VicarageDear Gail,
Thank you very much for your review. It is both a pleasure and a privilege to look after your mum. We are committed to supporting her well-being and ensuring she enjoys a fulfilling life with us, and we always strive to provide a variety of opportunities for residents to go out and engage in meaningful activities. Thank you for always being so engaged in your mum's care. This joint effort between the family and our care team truly makes a difference and helps us achieve the best possible outcomes for your mum.
Kind regards,
Daria

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has severe dementia and has resided at the Old Vicarage for approx 5 years. Staff are knowledgeable, caring, respectful, proactive and keen to respond and act on any ideas, concerns or suggestions to improve care and enhance the environment. Staff discuss, collaborate and agree care needs
with relatives, seeking medical advice when necessary.
Management at the home is keen to encourage and involve carers/ friends and relatives to visit and participate in the activities provided in the home. A support group for friends and relatives meets most months when people can share their thoughts and experience. Friends and relatives are free to visit the home at any time without notice.
Facilities are basic but adequate. Activities are provided to stimulate residents in keeping with their interests and ability. Recent activities have included exercise sessions/Easter egg hunt/trips to garden centre/Christmas party/pantomime and daily creative activities such as painting.
Reply from Daria Koeller, manager at The Old VicarageDear John,
Thank you for your review. Thank you for taking an active part in our friends and family group. Currently we are undertaking a refurbishment in line with a newly built extension.
Kind regards,
Daria

My mother was in there for 2 years and now my wife has been in here since 15th January and it's the most caring and friendly place. The care manager and the staff are very very good and look after the residents and their families.

My Mum is currently in The Old Vicarage. We agonised over her care at home for along time. When the manager visited us at home we were all put at ease. Mum has been there a month now and the care she is receiving is outstanding. The staff have a genuine love for the residents and I know that Mum is
well cared for. It was the hardest thing we had to do putting her into care, but the team here have made it bearable for us. They don’t only care for the resident, they look out for the family too. Highly recommended.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.213)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.213) out of 10 for The Old Vicarage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.818 for The Old Vicarage is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 22 Ratings = 4.818
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.395 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Vicarage is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.27
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
