I am sister to an elderly resident and have found the staff to caring, helpful and good humoured oth to my sister and to me as a visitor. To have to come into care was a great shock and the staff have meant that my sister has settled well into this lovely environment. he admin staff have been particularly helpful to me.
Thank you for your review. I will pass on your kind words to the team.
The nurses, John the cleaner, Clair, Mike, Di and catering staff are all amazing
The care they give dad is second to none. He enjoys the food
He loves you all, says you are all so kind. John, Veronica, Alina and Maya and a male nurse he talks about a lot, says how kind they are with him, he thinks the world of them
I wish he would mingle with others, yet however hard I try he will not leave his room, well bed actually
Keep doing what you are doing
What a wonderful review- Thank you. I will make sure your kind words are passed to the staff members. We would like all our residents to leave their room/bed however we do make sure that residents who chose not to participate in activities have one to one with our lifestyle team.

Thank you for taking the time to send us a five star review and how your visits were made a joy and you felt the love and friendship shared within our home. I am pleased to hear communication was excellent and you...
My Uncle entered Oak Lodge in June 2023 & after a short restless period he settled well & is still there & happy. His care needs have now increased & the staff are excellent in coping with him & he is well looked after. We are also kept well informed of his condition :& any problems that arise. He couldn't be in a better place.
I will pass your comments on to the team.
My wife entered Oak Lodge in July 2025 in order to receive end of life care. She exceeded all expectations and did not pass away until November 2025. My wife, due to medical problems, remained in her room 24/7 and so did not avail herself of the wider facilities of the home. I therefore can only comment on the care that she did receive during her time there and observations of the residents recreational areas as I passed through. I found the staff fully committed to providing the best care for my wife, particularly towards the end when she was unable to get out of bed, so all personal care was undertaken in bed. My wife did not have much of an appetite and required feeding, but everyone did their best to ensure that she was fed with dignity with food that she wanted. Many staff would do their best to find a few minutes in their day to have a chat with her. When she died many of the staff were visibly upset at her passing.
Very satisfied with Home on the whole. Friendly welcome and always clean and odour free. A few more 'Drop Ins' to the residents who are unable to leave their rooms, would be a great bonus as some don't have many visitors. Kitchen staff are always helpful and accommodate the residents requests whenever possible. Most of the carers are compassionate and empathetic towards residents and family. Most of the leadership team are very approachable and act on any issues that might arise, also engage with all the residents.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Your support means a lot to us, and we truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you again.
There is always a happy greeting from the staff. Activities are entertaining.
Thankyou for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate your lovely comments.
not all staff will treat with full dignity nor care . My family member is fully paralysed and has very infrequent interactions with anyone, their ment to have hourly visits.
**They don't don't leave there room or partake in activities nor food &
drink

The Staff remain constant with their attention and care to all the residents and offer excellent mental stimulation with a variety of activities.
As personal requirements change, staff flex individual needs easily and seamlessly.
Dad is certainly a happier person knowing there is always someone close by to checkin on him and also to communicate with.
The home is always clean and has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, a credit to Florin and team concerned with the day to day running of the home.

Oak Lodge care home is very clean and the food was fantastic. Staff are friendly and caring. My father was well looked after giving us peace of mind.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review us and also for your kind words.
I just wanted to write this review as I am so pleased that my father-in-law was able to be a resident at Oak Lodge. He has a lovely room, with an en suite toilet (though he is unable to use it sadly). But my main reason for the review is the staff who look after him or just pop by to say hello. I am so impressed with them all, they are cheerful, smiley, he has a laugh and a joke with them and they treat him kindly and with respect and for that reason I just had to write this, I can't commend them highly enough, thank you to all.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review us and for your kind words.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Oak Lodge. The care my mum received before her passing was amazing. We as a family were always made welcome and kept up to date with her care. The care and support we were shown gave us great comfort during her passing. My mum loved her last few years and always had a smile.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review us and for your kind words.
The Oak Lodge care home was always very welcome, all the staff spoke or smile when you were there! The room was always clean and tidy. everyone is always seem happy there and has a laugh with family and residents. The care and well-being of residents very good and they are treated with dignity.
Thank you for taking the time to review us and also for your kind words. Your review it's much appreciated.
The care provided to my mum was fantastic and staff were always kind and cheerful, going the extra mile at times to make sure things were as good as they could be right to the end. Living a long way away, it made a huge difference to know she was in good hands and that I didn't have to worry. Our whole family felt well supported by the staff. The rooms are not big but the care more than overweighs this. 100% recommend.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review us and for your kind words. We wish you and your family all the best.
I can't fault the staff. They are caring and loving and are giving me all the support they can for which I thank them. Nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you for taking the time to review us and for your kind words.

Meet the Team (3)

I gained my Health and Social skills and experience at our sister home, Gotton Manor in Taunton, from 2020, where I worked as a care assistant, which was my first experience in a care home.
Working my way up to Team Leader, Senior Carer, Care Coordinator and then Deputy Manager.
During my time at Gotton Manor, I gained a Level 3 and a Level 5 in Leadership in Adult Care, passing both with a Distinction credit.
Recently stepping into the Care Home Managers role at Oak Lodge in Chard, I have been supported all the way by everyone at Harbour Healthcare.
The residents' care and quality of life are my top priority, helped by the amazing & well established team at Oak Lodge.I have an open-door policy for staff, residents and relatives.
No two days are the same. The care we provide comes from our hearts day in & day out.

Hi, my name is Clair. I am the Deputy Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care Home.
I started as a carer in 1995. In 2007, I came to work at Oak Lodge Care Home as a Senior Carer and then worked up to the position of Nursing Associate. In October 2019, I was offered the Deputy Home Manager position; I was delighted, and of course, accepted the offer!
I have been part of the team at Oak Lodge for the past 19 years. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of our residents, their families, and the values that make our home a special place to live and work.
I am delighted to welcome our new manager, Lisa Moxon and look forward to working together to continue supporting our residents, families and staff. Having strong leadership and teamwork in place will help us build on the excellent care we already provide and continue to make our home the best it can be.

Hi, my name is Di. I am the Administrator at Oak Lodge Care Home.
I joined the Oak Lodge Care Home team in March 2018, having previously worked for an advertising agency for 10 years, and also worked for Axminster Carpets as a PA for 9 years.
I enjoy watching horse racing, going to horse shows, dog walking with my little Jack Russell terrier called Bea, and dining out. I am usually the person who answers the phone when you call during office hours and deals with all the administration and paperwork for the home.
