The very welcoming activities organiser has made it possible for me to make contact with my partner via Skype on a very regular basis. She assists him, and encourages him with care and humour, even joining in with our singing sessions. She has certainly helped to make this a precious means of contact for us.

My review is given at a difficult time, during the pandemic of Covid-19. The staff are very helpful if they have been made aware of the situation. The entertainment staff work so hard to keep the residents happy during this lockdown period. Entertainment is great at normal times. Food had been better before the pandemic struck; since the kitchen has been made aware that everyone pays their own rates, things have got better. I believe the night staff are very caring. I believe the one big problem is that when people ring for help, staff (for whatever reason) make them wait a long time.

The staff are always friendly and kind through this very difficult time, they have always tried to answer any questions we have had. Dad is very happy although he does not actively take part in the activities (even though they try to encourage him).

In general, the care is good, but I would like to enjoy at least one meal per day. Because of the present restrictions, I was taken outside for two occasions when visitors came that is the only time in two and a half years I've not been in the garden.

The care my mother received from the care staff in her final days was amazing. They were so caring and treated her with dignity and respect at all times. As far as we are concerned she died in her home surrounded by her friends and family. We would like to acknowledge al the care staff for their kindness and they all deserve "gold stars". Thank you.

My mum has lived at Trowbridge Memory Lane unit since November last year. As expected, she found it very difficult to begin with, but now appears much more accepting of the situation. I am very happy with the way she is treated with dignity and care. Thank you.

My mother was only at The Wingfield Care Home for two days before passing away. The care and support we both received, especially the two senior nurses on duty during the day and overnight, was incredible. My mother was treated with the utmost respect and dignity during her last few days.

Overall Experience

This is my 2nd experience of a care home and the experience at the Wingfield couldn’t be more different than last time. It is a big responsibility finding a home for someone. And you worry that the experience you receive when visiting for the first time won’t be the same when the resident moves in. I can honestly say that we were welcomed as family by the General Manager from the off and this experience hasn’t changed in the 7 months my friend had been resident there. There isn’t a high staff turn over so you see the same people each time and care is consistent. The facilities are just like home and my friend was helped to lay out his room the way he wanted. He is so comfortable and at home there and all of his needs are met with kindness and consideration. This is a difficult time for us, as we have had to discuss palliative care, but the Wingfield have been brilliant, caring but matter of fact, prepared to answer all of our questions and ready to act when needed. Excellent!

My Dad has been in The Wingfield for 2 yrs now. During that time, he has not always been the politest when having personal care, but the staff have always treated him with care and respect and Dad is very chilled and appears happy. The care team do an amazing job in difficult circumstances. We were originally told this was Dad's home so we should treat it the same, and we are definitely made to feel relaxed and welcomed when we visit. The care given to my elderly mum when visiting is fantastic too.

My sisters and I feel terribly guilty that because we live quite a distance from Trowbridge we can only visit our Dad once a week. However, we always feel safe in the knowledge that we've left him in exceptionally good hands and we have complete peace of mind that he will be looked after and cared for in the best possible way. The staff are amazing. Even though Dad can no longer communicate they know him so well. They always tell us what they've been talking about to him and how much he's enjoyed his food. This always makes us smile! Dad always looks lovely; clean shaven, hair combed, neat clothes, just how we would have liked. His room is spotlessly clean and fresh and homely. Thank you Wingfield from the bottom of our hearts.
