At The Wingfield Care Home, 24-hour nursing and residential care is provided for older people in need of support, including those living with dementia.

The Wingfield Care Home, located close to the local community, is just a stone's throw away from the River Biss in the outskirts of the historic market town of Trowbridge.

The home is out of our locality. The manageress is approachable and is currently making positive changes in the home. Activities normally take place outside of my visiting times, so I cannot comment.

I needed emergency respite for my mum as my dad had to go to hospital following a 999 call. I phone 12-15 homes, and Wingfield was the only home able (and willing) to take Mum the same day. They took her after carrying out a phone assessment, and the whole process was as smooth as it could be in the
circumstances. For this, I am extremely grateful. In the two weeks, she was there, Mum was looked after very well by caring staff in a nice environment.

My husband has been in the Dementia wing for three months. He has Parkinsonism but is rarely helped with drinks. He has a very infrequent shower and shaves. He has only been taken to one of the organised 'entertainments' in the whole three months, so has hardly any mental or physical stimulation. I
have requested that we be taken to the dining room for lunch every day but this rarely happens so he rarely has a break from sitting in his room. He is bored and lonely.

You are never sure when you choose a nursing home for your loved one what it would be like! All I can say is I have never had any doubts about his care and wellbeing. A really welcoming care home, excellent facilities, a comfortable well-furnished well run home. The staff all offer a high level of care and are very pleasant to speak to. My husband looks so much better after being at the Wingfield for just a week. I truthfully can find no fault. Thank you all.

It has been very difficult not being able to see my mum on a daily basis like I could before the start of the pandemic. However, it has been very reassuring to know that she has well cared for and safety has been the prime focus from everybody in Wingfield. Now I can visit she looks well and happy,
and if she's happy, I'm happy.

My mother seems very happy at Memory Lane and I know she is thought very fondly of by the staff. She receives excellent care and I am confident she is well looked after. At times I have had concerns over staffing levels and the impact this could have on residents safety. I also feel like the decor/furnishings
have no comparison to the other home, which is beautiful inside. Memory lane seems to have been forgotten when it comes to the "wow" factor and is really in need of a revamp of furnishings and decoration.
Lastly, I can't praise the reception staff enough - Excellent.

We currently staff the floors above the national average and are always in line with or in excess of our the numbers dictated by our residents' needs. Unfortunately, the plans around the decor put in place over a year ago had to go onto a back burner when we and the rest of the world went into this pandemic. Pleased to be able to report that things are beginning to ease back to normal and we have already seen contractors on-site completing repairs and other plans are being made. I have passed on your comments to the reception staff who like the rest of the support staff do an excellent job day in and day out but are not always recognised.

Really pleased that 'in-room' visits have started again, as online and pod not quite the same. Dad seems well and well looked after and staff are always helpful.
Fewer activities owing to the pandemic situation, probably lead to less stimulating environment, but no doubt there will probably be more
now that restrictions are easing.

Hello and thank you for your kind words, it is with extreme pleasure that we were able to allow room visits once again and slowly, but safely return to some kind of normality. It really warms the heart to see people returning and hearing the laughter from some of the bedrooms. Our activity's programme has been adapted during the last 12 months or so and has been extensively supported by our colleagues in the Life enrichment team with concerts and visits arranged for the home via zoom. For those residents who prefer to remain in their rooms we take the activity's to them and weather permitting visits out to the garden - Please feel free to contact the home to discuss how you feel we can further enhance the activity's and engage your relative.

The very welcoming activities organiser has made it possible for me to make contact with my partner via Skype on a very regular basis. She assists him, and encourages him with care and humour, even joining in with our singing sessions. She has certainly helped to make this a precious means of contact
for us.

My review is given at a difficult time, during the pandemic of Covid-19. The staff are very helpful if they have been made aware of the situation. The entertainment staff work so hard to keep the residents happy during this lockdown period. Entertainment is great at normal times. Food had been better
before the pandemic struck; since the kitchen has been made aware that everyone pays their own rates, things have got better. I believe the night staff are very caring. I believe the one big problem is that when people ring for help, staff (for whatever reason) make them wait a long time.

The staff are always friendly and kind through this very difficult time, they have always tried to answer any questions we have had. Dad is very happy although he does not actively take part in the activities (even though they try to encourage him).
