When having to choose a care home for my father we had to do so quickly due to his rapidly declining health. The team immediately set my mind at rest as to how quickly they could accommodate Dad and within a matter of days we were able to move him, initially for respite care, but he is now a permanent
resident. Our experience since Dad has been there has been superb. The staff are incredibly caring not just towards Dad but also us as we’re dealing with his ongoing failing health. We feel he’s getting the right specialist support for his needs and he is being well cared for and staff are proactive in identifying what needs to be addressed as and when his needs arise. On top of that the facilities are excellent and the food is second to none! I would highly recommend Metchley Manor. The peace of mind it has brought us as a family is allowing us to enjoy the time we have left with Dad and we all feel supported and cared for by the wonderful staff who work there.

This care home is wonderful. My aunt was poorly on arrival, gaining weight with excellent food and care. Staff always interact with residents and identify the activities that suit to each, monthly programme of activities interactive and stimulating. The hygiene of the home and residents is impeccable.
A beautiful coffee area where you can have a full range of drinks/cakes. Meals, what I describe as classy restaurant with diet requirements even linen cloths/serviettes. Visiting recently with relatives from Holland in the private dining room chose from the residents' lunch menu, homemade soup, seafood risotto and dessert, perfect. Her room is beautiful, spacious, tastefully decorated, own bathroom. Care and clinical care are very good and you can always speak to a member of the teams to discuss your loved one, they do what they say they will and action concerns. So happy my aunt is here. If I were to be in a care home, this is where I would want to be, I have not visited anywhere like this.

Mum has been a resident at Metchley Manor Care Home since April 2023. As a family, we knew it was the right thing to move Mum but still, not an easy decision. The director of community relations made the process of getting all the paperwork done as painless as possible. Much easier for us as we have
power of attorney! A welcome information pack would have been useful, including information about meal times, Wi-Fi codes, a bit of a run down about staff members and sample menu, information about the cafe area being help yourself etc. however I do live three hours away and my brother is local so he may have had all that information!
When I visit, Mum is always clean and tidy and all members of staff know her name and chat to her when we are walking around the home.
The dementia coordinator is excellent at keeping in touch with her medical needs and telling us what the doctor has said, medication changes etc.
The home is clean and great, they have a minibus so Mum can still get out and about, walks, meals, theatre etc.
Mum is now safe and well cared for and that is important!

We needed to find a home for respite care for my mother as she had had a fall and we were going on a holiday that week. The staff at Metchley Manor were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Mum has now decided to stay permanently, giving me a lot of reassurance over her care and well-being.

My friend transferred from a different care home and this was undoubtedly a daunting time for her. However, I was with her as she moved in and any reservations were soon quelled as her welcome could not have been warmer. The building itself is welcoming and you walk into somewhere with the feeling of
a hotel with a lounge, coffee area, large dining room and sweeping staircase.
The member of the management team was very kind, understanding and encouraging and both on that day and since she has spent a lot of time with my friend getting to know her as a person and her needs.
The caregivers are all kind and attentive.
Her room is attractive and, as throughout the building, the standard of cleanliness is good.
The meals - always very important to the residents - are of a very good standard and very well presented in a very spacious dining room. The menu has good choices.
There is a range of activities to choose from and an impressive selection of outings suiting a mixture of tastes.

Dad moved into Metchley Manor only a couple of weeks ago and from the beginning it has exceeded all our expectations. It’s a beautiful, clean place with a very homely feel and everyone is so caring and kind. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone goes out of their way to help the residents and their
family. Dad regularly joins in with the organised activities and trips and it’s so re-assuring for the family to know that dad is happy and very well cared for. This place is a true gem!

Mum has been a resident on reminiscence for almost 4 years. She is happy and content and has a lovely relationship with the carers. The home is resident centred, looking at activities and things that give purpose, this means Mum is active and living the best quality life possible. If she wants to be
up and about and join in, she can, if she wants to have a day in bed, she can. The staff are great and I have always found them and the manager on her floor very approachable. The 'new' management, since the home changed hands, both on Mum's floor and the home overall are very responsive which is also good and reassuring for a family member. It is a lovely environment and one Mum is clearly happy in, which is so important to us, It would be hard to think of anywhere better for her.

Metchley Manor exceeded all my expectations of a residential care home. My uncle was a resident for over two years and during that time he particularly enjoyed his trips to the five-star dining room where an award-winning Head Chef conjures up what can only be described as delicious-tasting art on a
plate. I also saw how fond so many of the carers became of my uncle which was lovely to know since I live and work in London and only weekly or fortnightly visits were possible. The high levels of care were outstanding - nothing being too much trouble. Aged 91 when my uncle was dying the levels of care went over and beyond. Spending the last few weeks 'living' temporarily with him, I can never praise the staff highly enough. Little things such as offering aromatherapy and massage at the end of life make a difference. If ever I had needed proof that he had a wonderful 'family' at Metchley, I saw it during these weeks. I cannot recommend Metchley Manor enough.

Mum has lived a full and active life so when we realised she needed care it was not going to be easy to find somewhere that would support her to remain active and busy but that is exactly what Metchley Manor has done.
From the minute we stepped into Metchley Manor's doors, we knew this would be the
right place for Mum.
The staff are compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and professional. They were incredibly supportive as Mum transitioned to the home and provided Mum with first-class care all around.
The comprehensive activities programme that runs seven days a week means Mum is busy and living a full life.
The food and hospitality at Metchley Manor are second to none, and the small touches, like the staff knowing Mum's favourite songs so they can play them on Alexa in the dining room, make the home such a special place. We could not recommend it enough to other families.

Mum has lived at Metchley Manor since 2017, initially in the assisted living section and then, when her dementia got much worse, in Reminiscence. Being able to keep her in the same place rather than having to find a new home was wonderful, and I wouldn't have wanted to move her anyway. Firstly, it's
a really lovely environment - honestly feels more like a nice hotel rather than a care home in many ways. Secondly, and in many ways more importantly, she is genuinely cared for by staff who believe in what they are doing. She is looked after by the same staff as when she first moved in, and the person who was her main carer in assisted living still goes to visit her in Reminiscence. That's the same staff for six years, and because it is so hard for her to make new memories, that continuity is really important. They are wonderful people, and mum clearly feels safe and happy there. I cannot recommend the place highly enough.

Very friendly environment and good variety of entertainment for residents. Staff are always extremely helpful and pleasant and always greeted with a smile. From speaking to other residents there they are extremely happy living there. It is a joy to visit Metchley Manor.

After very intense searches and visiting ten plus local care homes looking for a home for my 90-year-old Grandma to move from her own home two plus hours away. I was incredibly relieved to find Metchley Manor. The home is beautiful, clean, warm, bright and the staff are welcoming, kind, polite, and
care well for my Grandma. There are a variety of activities on offer, to sneakily keep the residents moving and well. The bistro space for meeting families and having a cup of tea or biscuits is lovely. My grandma was a french teacher, and the chef is french so comes and chats with my grandma in french which is so lovely for her. Her mobility and quality of life has significantly improved since she moved into Metchley Manor in August. The difference in other care homes which I viewed for the same cost is incredible. I am so relieved she was able to move in here.

The staff are approachable and keep me up to date with dad's care needs and they treat
him with respect and dignity, going out of their way to make his life as comfortable as possible. My dad is safe, content, well fed and clean, living in a calm and friendly environment. This is everything we hoped for when looking for a care home for dad.

My mother was a resident at Metchley Manor for a number of years and the overall experience was very positive. The home is in pleasant surroundings and my mother had a lovely room in which she was able to have her own furniture. There is a high standard of cleanliness and the staff are always cheerful
and courteous. They have a concierge available to deal with all incoming enquiries and we found we could always get help and speak to the relevant person. The care team worked extremely hard to support my mother and were always happy to talk to my sister and me. There were frequent activities and occasional trips out in the minibus. The dining room and bistro are both excellent and a private family room is also available to book for family meals. We are grateful to the management and staff team for the high quality of the service provided.

The home is akin to a 5-star hotel with good food, well-maintained facilities and an extensive programme of activities. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the level of care during
the day is very good. My brothers and I are very pleased that our mother is settling in there.

Staff have always been very kind and helpful. The range of activities has been good. Inevitably during lockdown activities involving outsiders have been more limited than normal but the staff have done their best to make sure residents still had a good range of activities. The home has taken on board
suggestions of activities. The food always looks inviting. My dad took some time to settle into the home but the staff have always been supportive of him and us as his family. I would have no doubt recommending Metchley to people looking for a high-quality care home with caring and effective staff.

I just wanted to praise all the staff at Sunrise for all their wonderful hard work and efforts in caring for my 97-year-old mother these last 4-years and especially throughout the pandemic. My mother has been absolutely brilliantly cared for, and the staff have done so much to keep their home safe.
There have been amazing alterations carried out to allow for indoor Pod visits earlier on with further alterations to the front to allow for outside visits and sympathetic landscaping. It is clear that my mother feels safe, at home and very comfortable with the staff, who are so caring and kind.
The staff were fantastic today when we needed a family visit with our solicitor. They really went out of their way to accommodate us in a Covid safe way, providing a lovely lunch. We were most grateful. They all work so hard and really should receive great recognition and praise for all they do. So, thank you very, very much to all the staff.

One of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, but the compassion, understanding, knowledge and professionalism of the team at Edgbaston have made this so much easier.


My mum has settled quickly and is happy, and this is down to the amazing staff on the Reminiscence floor. They are

calm, take everything in their stride, and truly understand the needs of their residents.


I cannot find fault with any element of the service provided here from the minute you ring the bell to saying goodbye.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 registered maximum number of service users is 19.6, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Kim-Marie Newton Newton

Job Title: General Manager

I have almost 20 years experience of working in health and social care. I’ve worked for the Care Quality Commission, and as a Care Coordinator, Home Support Officer and General Manager. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Social Care and have a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management. I am a dementia pioneer and a mentor in mental health.


Prior to joining Metchley Manor, I was a regional support manager for a large care provider covering residential dementia, general nursing, palliative care and younger adults with enduring mental health.


I’m passionate about putting residents at the heart of everything we do here at Metchley Manor. For me, it’s all about person-centred care and ensuring every day is special for each person we care for.


I feel very privileged to be able to share my experience with such a great team and to lead the way in delivering exceptional service to residents and their families.
