Good care from carers, always helpful and friendly towards my Aunt and me. Lots of activities for residents, good food and very clean room. I am really pleased with the service provided.

Sunrise staff are friendly and the home offers lots of activities for residents, including regular days out. The food is good quality, although there is a lot of it! The rooms and communal spaces are generally very clean and welcoming. There is a coffee bar in reception that you can bring family members to, which is a good space. As a care home for people with dementia, they have lots of activities to encourage both mental and physical well being.

My mother has been a resident at Sunrise for approximately 12 months. She was unsafe at home, not eating and generally not looking after herself. On being a resident at Sunrise, after a short settling in period, all that turned around, she is now properly cared for, eating regular meals and she’s safe. The nurses and staff care for her needs, whether it be personal care or just going out on trips to the shops, local attractions or even the pub for a drink and/or meal. There is plenty of entertainment each week and there is always something to do for the residents. There are regular visits by healthcare professionals. I fully recommend Sunrise as a residential home.

I went to Sunrise, Edgbaston for respite after a serious, unexpected operation. They were wonderful in all aspects and put me back on my feet. It is immaculately clean. Everyone is kind and considerate and their nursing care is second to none. They organise activities for residents and the building buzzes with activity. Thank you to all your helping to make me better.

My husband was admitted to hospital in the days before Christmas and once his treatment was complete, not being strong enough to return home, I needed to consider a period of respite care for him with little notice.

Without any prior experience of finding such a facility to meet mine and my husband's needs, I shared my dilemma with the personnel at Sunrise of Edgbaston and they moved quickly and efficiently to enable me to transfer my husband into a safe, comfortable and dignified environment with an appropriate level of care to aid his recovery.

From my first contact with them, everyone at Sunrise was friendly and supportive and the care that my husband received during his stay cannot be faulted.

I would not hesitate to utilise Sunrise's services again and certainly would recommend them to others without reservation.

I feel that living here is very nice as I am never alone since my husband died. I have friends visit regularly and they always feel welcome. We have trips in the minibus and they are wonderful. The driver is very good. I really like living here. At night, staff take care of me as they always shut my window.

It is hard living on the other side of the world knowing that Mum is in such a fragile state, both mentally and physically. However, what gives me great comfort is the knowledge that she is being looked after by a dedicated team of professionals who provide a level of care, far beyond my capability, that she desperately needs.

Thank you.

Comfortable, friendly and an interactive environment. The staff are very helpful, kind and caring. Mum loves the carers that attend to her needs and finds the regular day trips exciting and fun.

Some indication of what she gets up to would be appreciated as the nature of her dementia means we never find out how much of the "planned activities" actually happen or involves, mum.

The care Mum receives is excellent. After 4 months in Reminisce Mum looks so much better. The food is excellent, lots of activities and outings a couple of times a week. Dementia residents are encouraged to join in activities downstairs as well and Mum loves the singer/music they have each week. The whole building is spacious and welcoming and feels like home from home with traditional comfortable furnishings and carpets rather than being too modern and clinical. Nothing is too much trouble and they are adaptable and flexible. I am encouraged to phone or visit whenever I like and can take Mum on outings anytime. A lot of Reminisce staff seem to have been there a good few years and tell me they view residents as 'family'. They are experienced, kind, caring and compassionate and seem to have endless patience and reassurance. Not only the Reminisce staff - the administrative staff also are very supportive and take an active interest.

Our sister/sister-in-law has been at Sunrise of Edgbaston for 9 months. We are delighted with the care she receives. The staff are kind, courteous and patient with her. They understand her condition of vascular dementia and treat her accordingly. She has integrated well because of the care and friendliness she receives. We are more than satisfied with everything.

Review from Shelley B (Cousin of Resident) published on 7 February 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
It was difficult to find a suitable home from home for my cousin who had lived in a beautiful flat with her mother. After her mother's death, we searched and searched finding every place totally unsuitable.
Then we were told about Sunrise Edgbaston. I had no expectations this time as we looked around but after a tour plus a long conversation with the wonderful manager and head of nursing I knew it was just right, especially as there was no smell as we entered the hallway which we had found in other homes we looked at. My cousin was hard to sway but after a visit and meeting with the manager and nurse, she signed the documents.
Sunrise has been amazing the care, nursing friendliness and food have been faultless. The staff go out of their way to care and spend time listening to my cousin never in a hurry or brush her off. Every concern is shared with me by a phone call and my calls are always returned.

My cousin has improved since entering the home, her demeanour is good.

Whenever I visit, I am always welcomed by the concierge who knows where my relative is. The cafe area is very good and allows us to sit and talk whilst not interrupting any activity in the lounge or disturb other residents watching TV. I have been impressed with the number of staff always moving about, they all acknowledge my relative by first name and any questions I have, had have been answered or referred to someone else who has answered them.
The restaurant is always bright and well set out for dinner, putting some hotels to shame but giving the residents the feeling of being in a restaurant, not a school dinner hall. The menu is always available on the table and well set out. Staff are available to help if residents have difficulty eating.
The room is very smart, modern and private.

I think Sunrise Edgbaston was an excellent choice for my relative as she receives the care she needs to get throughout the day.
