Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:

- In certain types of dementia, personality and behaviour changes may be present alongside or instead of issues with memory or concentration.
Moderate Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "moderate dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Worsened memory problems. Not always recognising own family members and friends. Repeating the same questions over and over again
- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Verbally or physically aggressive behaviour
If your loved one displays this type of behaviour you may need a care home that has specially trained staff. Verbal/physical aggression is often defined:
- Consistent shouting and screaming
- Verbal abuse
- Physical abuse

I have always found everyone at Lavender Court to be very helpful when contacted with regards to my sister. They always get in touch regarding any medical problems and keep me informed as to the outcome.
Although this is a very upsetting time for everyone when I have visited all the staff are friendly with smiles on their faces and always ready to help with any questions I have.

My mom has vascular Dementia. Mom has been a resident of Lavender Court Nursing and Care Home for 2 years. I can’t thank the staff enough for all the support and care they have given my mom and myself. The manager and staff are welcoming and always helpful. The meals are always well presented and nutritional. They have fun days for residents and family ie Easter bonnets, Christmas parties, Halloween and many more. I would highly recommend.

Overall Experience
My overall impression of the home is the staff attitude toward residents which is 1st class. The management team are most helpful and the whole team have a very apparent good relationship with each other which helps the overall running of the home. Friendly and helpful, also welcoming.

An absolutely fantastic environment with caring and courteous staff. I have so much respect for the staff of Lavender Court and I appreciate the way they have welcomed my grandfather into their family. My grandfather is regularly fed and changed. We struggled for 5 years and wish we knew about Lavender Court earlier.

Overall Experience
It has been 16 months since I last offered my views of Lavender Court, my father has resided there since November 2017.
We have seen many positive changes it has been completely transformed into a pleasant and comfortable environment, the outside kerb appeal has also been improved considerably.
The home retains its staff which is most reassuring and a regular review of my fathers Care Plan with me has been implemented this year. The staff are lovely and always very welcoming, they approach my father with dignity and respect.
I must say, my father is always very smart and his personal care is of a high standard. His room is spotlessly clean and so is the rest of the home.
The food that my father is offered is varied, oral fluid intake is visibly a high priority.
The Family Meetings have been a pleasant opportunity to meet other relatives and friends along with the regular social gatherings.

Overall Experience
We moved our Mother/Mother in Law to Lavender Court in March this year. We notice on our visits that she is always clean and presentable, which is nice to see. I think the staff, on the whole, do a good job considering the circumstances, but sometimes they could do with more staff. A pleasant environment for most residents.

Overall Experience
Lavender Court is an excellent choice for our loved one. The manager and care staff/nurses, etc. are professional, caring and respectful at all times. The manager takes time out to explain and discuss our loved one's needs.
Our loved one has dementia and can be very difficult/trying at times but staff have patience and allow them time to process what is happening. All in all, excellent service provided.

The home is very clean with high standards. The meals are very nice. Staff make visitors feel very welcome, they always offer tea or coffee to us. They have been very good to my mum since she arrived here, she looks so well now. So glad she's at this home.

The home is clean and well cared for and activities are provided. The staff here are excellent, very kind, caring and cheerful. The support from the staff and management for both my husband and the family were very good. If needed, extra support e.g. Doctors, specialist nurses, Ct's etc, was sorted very quickly. My husband was well looked after here.

Overall Experience
Since my mother has moved to this home she has shown signs of improvement. She spoke on the day she arrived after not speaking for nearly a year since her stroke. All staff are so kind and caring and treat Mum like a valued human being. Mum can sense this. The room is clean and fresh. Staff are responsive to any questions we have, but most of all we have peace of mind that Mum is being loved and cared for.
