Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Memory problems such as misplacing items and not be able to recall recent events (however, in some forms of dementia a person's memory may be unchanged)
- Difficulties thinking through problems and planning, making decisions
- Language and communication issues such as finding it difficult to recall the appropriate word in a conversation or following a conversation
- Poor orientation, getting lost in areas previously familiar to them
- Difficulty judging distances (more falls than usual)
- Changes in their normal mood including anxiety and depression
- In certain types of dementia, personality and behaviour changes may be present alongside or instead of issues with memory or concentration.
Moderate Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "moderate dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Worsened memory problems. Not always recognising own family members and friends. Repeating the same questions over and over again
- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness

We have found the care home to be kind, caring and compassionate with our mum and ourselves. A few niggles (as you would expect) but overall happy with the care provided and grateful that Mum is safe 24/7.

My mom is in Lavender Court and has been there for nearly 3 years. I have always found the staff to be very helpful and show nothing but kindness, love and care to the residents.

My mom is in Lavender Court and has been there for nearly 3 years. I have always found the staff to be very helpful and show nothing but kindness, love and care to the residents.
Mom is always clean, and she looks well cared for, Mom has dementia and though she doesn't know us, she shows great affection to the staff and says she loves them all. Mom's room is clean and tidy, and the home itself is clean and tidy. There is plenty to do, to help residents lead as full a life as possible. The home telephones you straight away with any concerns regarding Mom and I find this a great comfort.

Lavender Court is a lovely place for my mum. The staff are friendly, the food is amazing and caters for Mum's needs. The BBQ was fantastic and a good way to meet other residents and their families. Nurses are always there to help. Carers are wonderful. Food is amazing, what's not to like!

On first entering this home, we were overwhelmed by how friendly and caring all the staff are, right from the manager down to the people who work in the kitchen, we are looked after as much as the resident. On first entering this home, we were overwhelmed by how friendly and caring all the staff are, right from the manager down to the people who work in the kitchen, we are looked after as much as the resident. The care here is marvellous. After being here for almost a month, we would love the resident to stop here. The home is clean, smells fresh all the time, and so far, we have not encountered any problems. Excellent care.

Placing Dad in care was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, however, Dad is looked after and safe at Lavender Court. There is always plenty of staff on hand and Dad seems well settled, although due to his illness, he will always want to return home to be with his wife, who is also ill so...

Very satisfied with the care home. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Mom is always clean and tidy and they treat her with dignity. They inform us right away if a problem arises. She seems settled. The home is always very clean and tidy.

My wife came to the home in November 2022 and since her arrival at Lavender Court, I have been very impressed with the care, support and professionalism of the staff. The home is well-run and comfortable and the only minor criticism is that some areas could do with a lick of paint.

My mom said she is happy here and that the staff are kind and friendly to her. I always find my mom clean and tidy and often involved in activities within the home. I feel reassured and confident that my mom is well cared for and that her needs are met.

The staff are always welcoming. The kitchen staff come and ask what Mom likes for her meals and what her favourite foods are. Anything I ask re: medications etc are dealt with in a very professional way and if I have any problem they are quickly dealt with.

Lavender Court is always very welcoming. The staff are all lovely and the residents always seem happy and comfortable. The place is always spotless and I couldn't fault the care my family member receives.
With the current pandemic, the staff deserve medals for the work they do. Stay safe guys.

Overall Experience
My mom moved into Lavender Court in January and was welcomed with open arms. When we speak to her on a video call we can see how happy she is as she is always smiling and laughing. She enjoys doing the art activities and is always chatting to the staff who look after her.
