The staff were excellent and the rooms were always clean and pleasant.
The activities were of good interest and varied. One of the staff helping with activities formed a good relationship with my friend and always listened to her.
I would have no hesitation recommending Barchester Hilderstone Hall and my experience was a comfort for someone I loved.

My sister, who has advanced dementia, is obviously very well cared for and is included in activities. I always find the staff kind, caring and understanding of me as well as her! I can't fault the care, and I would recommend Hilderstone Hall to anyone.

Mum was cared for with dignity and respect. She enjoyed her time and was involved in some of the daily activities. The staff provided excellent care during Mum's last hours.

Hilderstone have been brilliant, they managed to get both of my parents into a room together on the day they were both been discharged from hospital. My parents spent 4 weeks together, when my father became very poorly, the home provided my mum with transport to see my father and offered to let him come back for his final few days, but unfortunately he was too poorly to travel, so they helped Mum to visit and when my father passed away we had the funeral go from the hall. The staff were amazing, they helped to console my mum and to be fair a lot of the family too. I really don’t know how we would have coped without them. For us, a lot of things happened very quickly and totally unexpected, but they were completely amazing and continue to be.

Our friend has settled in well. Hilderstone Hall is always clean, our friend's clothes are always clean and ironed, and tea/coffee and homemade cake are always on hand for visitors to us - cakes are very yummy. Many activities during the week, and always welcome to join in with them. Staff keeps us up to date on what’s going on.

Happy to see some refurbishing taking place.
Overall, a pleasant and helpful care home. However, weekend staffing is very minimal and lacking attendance. Often lack of communication and details left unattended to.
Staff generally excellent.

The entertainment lady is the most amazing person and puts a smile on all the residents faces and ours! She's truly the type of person you would want to entertain your loved ones, she's absolutely brilliant!
The manager is also wonderful and so helpful and understanding of aspects of care.
Beautiful place and currently undergoing a refurb to make it even more stunning. If I could I would move in here myself.
Perhaps the only negative I could give is the extremely high cost for the stay here, think it would be helpful if it were on a scale of how much care each individual needs as Mum is completely mobile, can shower, dress and feed herself and only needs someone to give her tablets.

The staff are excellent, cheerful and helpful. A little disappointed that all the rooms are not ensuite shower rooms.

Care, comfort and cleanliness - respecting the very long lifetime experience, contribution to society and personal dignity of my father-in-law - are of paramount importance to him and his family. These three things embrace every aspect of what is on offer at Hilderstone Hall in our opinion. Although he may not say much himself now, we know that he is very appreciative of the attention and care that he receives and this, in itself, significantly informs our own views. In the twilight of his life, we are confident that he is welcome and loved here and our thanks to all the staff and fellow residents who make up this lovely community area are fulsome and heartfelt.

My husband was only at the home for a very short period of time. Whilst he was there he was very comfortable and very well cared for.

A wonderful home. Beautiful decor and amazing outside surroundings. Caring staff. Delicious food. Well-organised activities, something for everyone. What more could you ask for?

Getting my uncle in the home from the hospital couldn't have been more simple. The manager organised everything perfectly. All staff couldn't be more helpful. The only negative was that there was no gluten-free food there on the day he went in. I went out myself to buy gluten-free bread for his first tea in the home.

I am so impressed by the high quality of care provided by all the staff at Barchester Hilderstone Hall Care Home. Everyone who we met showed so much love, care and concern for residents and visitors alike. The engagement with all the residents is top-notch. You can see on the faces of the residents how comfortable and relaxed they are whenever the staff speak or deal with them. I can see why they enjoy their lives here. Well done, everyone. My father-in-law only stayed a short time but I was thrilled with the care he received.

The staff at Hilderstone Hall are friendly and caring. I have some experience with care homes based on family and friends and this care home is on a different level allowing patients a good level of freedom whilst providing a caring and safe environment. All the staff I have met have been professional data all times and really seem to care about the residents. This place should be filed as a benchmark for all others to aspire to.

Without exception, we are all human and therefore, mistakes happen. The measure of an excellent management team is how honestly and effectively such incidents are handled. In my experience this management team is exceptional.

I visited Barchester Hilderstone Hall Care Home for three consecutive days and experienced friendliness to all visitors and residents. Whatever the request, pets welcomed, self-help and refreshments are offered to visitors. I was particularly impressed with the alarm mats by the bed. The grounds and home are lovely, well kept and maintained. Inside reception has several alone lounges where visitors can relax. There were always staff in sight to ensure all were comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. My sister's room was large with an ensuite and plenty of room for clothes. Lots of artwork and sculptures were displayed, giving the feeling of a gracious home. Overall, a pleasant experience and I am happy my sister is in such a welcoming and professional home.

I feel like since my gran was moved upstairs that the care had gone downhill a bit. But on my last visit, she was doing really well again which I believe is mostly thanks to the new entertainment staff (especially the one-to-one entertainment being done in the residents' rooms if they are unable to get them to leave their room that day).

It was a pleasant experience to see my mother alert and responding more than she has been recently. I feel that she was getting more attention than she has been in the past.

Meet the Team (7)

Hello, I'm Charlotte, the Acting General Manager at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the home in early 2024, initially as a Bank Nurse before progressing into the post of Deputy Manager and now acting General Manager. I had previously visited Hilderstone Hall when working for the NHS as a Community Nurse and Practice Nurse, and I was delighted to have the opportunity to work here. The home is stunning. I was drawn to the beautiful countryside setting, and the residents and staff here are remarkable.
I am a Registered General Nurse and have additional qualifications alongside my nursing degree in disease management, specialising in diabetes and respiratory conditions. I am passionate about encouraging and promoting high standards for the delivery of person-centred, holistic care.
Outside of work, I am kept busy with my family, my two pooches, and I am a lover of holidays – I always make sure the next one is in the planning!
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Hilderstone. The team and I are always here to help.

Hello, my name is Carrie, I have been in the care sector as a Home Administrator since 2006.
I joined Hilderstone Hall in April 2023, with a wealth of experience in administration roles including completing a NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
My duties are the day-to-day running of the home, payroll, invoicing and contracts. I enjoy meeting and greeting relatives, residents and professionals, making time for everyone as I have an open-door policy.
The staff at Hilderstone Hall are all very welcoming and strive to give the best possible care which I am very proud to be a part of.

Hi, my name is Tania Lane, I joined Barchester in 2016. I started as a housekeeper and worked my way up to the position of Head Housekeeper. I take great pride in my work, I am so happy when residents really like how their rooms look and feel. I also love to talk to the residents while I’m cleaning their rooms. I aim to help residents remain as independent as possible. I also especially enjoy facilitating new families and future residents' show-around so that they can experience the home before moving in.

Hi, my name is Lyle and I joined the team at Hilderstone Hall in 2022 as Head of Maintenance.
Most of all I love the interaction and variety my role provides and I feel privileged to be able to make a difference in people’s lives by ensuring their home is maintained and presented to a high standard. Before joining the Hilderstone team, I worked in the theatre world.

Hi, my name is Cheznath and I am a Registered Nurse here at Hilderstone Hall.

Hi, my name is Brenda. I have worked at Hilderstone Hall for 2 and a half years on memory lane. I have worked in the care industry for 30 years in a range of different sectors. My hobbies include gardening, which I encourage the residents every year to plant seeds and grow veg. I also enjoy sewing, making bags, and aprons and attending local craft fairs. I have 3 grown-up children and many grandchildren.

Hi, my name is Joanne and I joined the home in 2014. Within my role as a Hospitality Host, I strive to create a stimulating environment for our residents so that we can give them the all-round care and support they deserve.
We want our homes to be warm and welcoming with interesting events and first-class hospitality. As a Hospitality Host, we have an important part to play in making sure that happens. In particular, we provide a friendly, engaging and helpful service in our dining room and bar areas. It’s a fulfilling role that will give me a real opportunity to enhance the lives of all our residents and one which I enjoy!
