Mum has been a resident at the home for nearly 3 years. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with polite and attentive staff. There have been several changes in management/staff as well as major refurbishments recently. I believe it now provides a much more consistent level of care than previously. Communication/dialogue with care/nursing staff has improved and as a family, we feel more included in Mum’s care. The most important part of her care is that she is cared for with dignity. She has advanced Alzheimer’s and cannot verbally communicate her needs or wishes. She relies on care staff to meet those needs in a caring, safe and effective way. Staff try their very best to meet her needs. I would like to see more activities/stimulation for those nursed in their rooms as this would enhance their quality of life, at least for short periods. We welcome the improvements and hope that the consistency of care we have recently experienced continues.
Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to do this. We are always looking at new ways to enhance the social life of our residents and would welcome any suggestions that you feel that we could incorporate into our programme. The feeling of inclusion in the home is important for all of our residents and I welcome your comments.
The home has always been a bit run down in appearance and the major works going on just now should correct this.
The garden needs a lot of attention to restore them to some of their former glory.
Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on our home, it is very much appreciated. The refurbishment is making a huge difference and we have now started on the gardens so the residents, families and friends will be able to enjoy the beautiful grounds once more.
My father-in-law arrived here in August 2017 after his previous home was suddenly closed. Best thing that ever happened. The care here is first class, beautiful surroundings and such a friendly lot.
This is a lovely place, in beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended for a loved one, there is so much space. Lots going on and enough room to have friends and family to visit!
Friendly welcome, staff very helpful. No issues.
Very nice clean place lovely staff, friendly and very helpful.
Hilderstone Hall! Wow it's brilliant! My 100+ year-old aunt was so anxious about her move. She immediately felt at home and the welcoming staff and the continuing care staff are amazing with her. At 100 she deserves the care and attention she is getting. Well done Hildersone! Many thanks from the family.
All our dreams came true finding a place like this for my Dad.
Our aunt seems very well cared for. She is always well dressed, including jewellery and looks comfortable. She is usually cheerful, though confused but content.
We find the staff very approachable and helpful. They treat my aunt with respect and are aware of her needs. She has a lovely room which is clean, well furnished and arranged.
I have found it to be very friendly, they are always here to help. My friend has no complaints so that's all that matters.
I know only the friend I visit and take out weekly in my car. Pressure sore problems (inevitable with constant sitting) are well attended to. Contact with care staff, in my presence, has always been cheerful and encouraging towards my friend.
My only criticisms 1) He;s sometimes not been shaved. 2) His nails (as today when I "dealt with them") are often not cut.
His nursing care has been excellent as has the care given to him by the carers.
A marvellous care home with very dedicated staff. I would thoroughly recommend to everyone.
1, The excellent caring staff, the food, standards of cleanliness and location, I cannot fault anything about the home.
I go back again to the staff everyone I have met is doing the job because they care and want to do it and other care homes seem to employ temp staff that just go through the motions.
The staff at Hilderstone Hall are friendly and welcoming to relatives of their residents. They provide excellent activities and encourage residents to take part. Relatives are also invited to many of the activities and to accompany residents on some of the organised trips.
The menu offered is varied and nutritious, although the staff do not always remind residents that they can have alternatives to the menu if they would prefer.
Staff generally, but not always, pay great attention to the safety of the residents, sometimes forgetting to ensure that a buzzer is within reach, and that the motion-sensor mat is appropriately placed in bedrooms. There is not always a member of staff in communal areas.
Communication between members of staff is generally good, although occasionally relatives are not informed of visits and reports of outside agencies. The staff are friendly to, and supportive of, residents, and help to make Hilderstone a home for all their residents.

Meet the Team (7)

Hello, I'm Charlotte, the Acting General Manager at Hilderstone Hall.
I joined the home in early 2024, initially as a Bank Nurse before progressing into the post of Deputy Manager and now acting General Manager. I had previously visited Hilderstone Hall when working for the NHS as a Community Nurse and Practice Nurse, and I was delighted to have the opportunity to work here. The home is stunning. I was drawn to the beautiful countryside setting, and the residents and staff here are remarkable.
I am a Registered General Nurse and have additional qualifications alongside my nursing degree in disease management, specialising in diabetes and respiratory conditions. I am passionate about encouraging and promoting high standards for the delivery of person-centred, holistic care.
Outside of work, I am kept busy with my family, my two pooches, and I am a lover of holidays – I always make sure the next one is in the planning!
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Hilderstone. The team and I are always here to help.

Hello, my name is Carrie, I have been in the care sector as a Home Administrator since 2006.
I joined Hilderstone Hall in April 2023, with a wealth of experience in administration roles including completing a NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
My duties are the day-to-day running of the home, payroll, invoicing and contracts. I enjoy meeting and greeting relatives, residents and professionals, making time for everyone as I have an open-door policy.
The staff at Hilderstone Hall are all very welcoming and strive to give the best possible care which I am very proud to be a part of.

Hi, my name is Tania Lane, I joined Barchester in 2016. I started as a housekeeper and worked my way up to the position of Head Housekeeper. I take great pride in my work, I am so happy when residents really like how their rooms look and feel. I also love to talk to the residents while I’m cleaning their rooms. I aim to help residents remain as independent as possible. I also especially enjoy facilitating new families and future residents' show-around so that they can experience the home before moving in.

Hi, my name is Lyle and I joined the team at Hilderstone Hall in 2022 as Head of Maintenance.
Most of all I love the interaction and variety my role provides and I feel privileged to be able to make a difference in people’s lives by ensuring their home is maintained and presented to a high standard. Before joining the Hilderstone team, I worked in the theatre world.

Hi, my name is Cheznath and I am a Registered Nurse here at Hilderstone Hall.

Hi, my name is Brenda. I have worked at Hilderstone Hall for 2 and a half years on memory lane. I have worked in the care industry for 30 years in a range of different sectors. My hobbies include gardening, which I encourage the residents every year to plant seeds and grow veg. I also enjoy sewing, making bags, and aprons and attending local craft fairs. I have 3 grown-up children and many grandchildren.

Hi, my name is Joanne and I joined the home in 2014. Within my role as a Hospitality Host, I strive to create a stimulating environment for our residents so that we can give them the all-round care and support they deserve.
We want our homes to be warm and welcoming with interesting events and first-class hospitality. As a Hospitality Host, we have an important part to play in making sure that happens. In particular, we provide a friendly, engaging and helpful service in our dining room and bar areas. It’s a fulfilling role that will give me a real opportunity to enhance the lives of all our residents and one which I enjoy!
