Overview

The Review Score of 8.9 (maximum of 10) for Longcliffe Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Longcliffe Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.646 for Longcliffe Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 113 Ratings = 4.646

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.226 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Longcliffe Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 8.4 positive Reviews (42 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 8.4 Target = 0.476

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

8.9 Longcliffe Care Home has a Review Score of 8.9 (8.872) from 10 Reviews

My father moved to Longcliffe last September which was a difficult time for all of us. However, the welcome and warmth from all the staff enabled dad to settle very quickly into his new home. He enjoyed the company of everyone and took part in many activities. These included theatrical productions, trips on a steam train (a highlight), visits to the local church and religious services within the home.

Issues with his health were always recognised quickly and medical advice sort and acted upon.
Although his appetite was poor, staff managed to get him to eat and drink. Throughout his stay, he was treated with kindness and respect whatever the time of day or night he needed help. In dad's own words "I feel safe!". Thank you to everyone who cared for him.

My dad moved into Longcliffe in September 2016. From the time he moved in, the care provided was excellent. Living over 200 miles away, we only visited at weekends and during the holidays and on every occasion, we only ever see familiar members of staff who knew him well. The home provided him with a safe, caring environment and the staff dignified care. He enjoyed his last year in Longcliffe and made many new friends. As a family, we couldn't have asked for a better home,

I have nothing but praise for the staff and management.
The staff are training all the time to acquire new nursing skills and are so caring. My brother has Cerebral Palsy and they are very quick to identify any problems that he has and provide the care required. They are kind and courteous at all times and they obviously care about their "extended family". Despite all my brother's problems, he is happy there and I would not want him to be anywhere else.

My mother has end stage of Alzheimer's and needs full care. Longcliffe has proved perfect for her a lovely spacious and light room, very caring and efficient staff, nutritious and tasty food (homemade) and a happy atmosphere. The building is old and cosy and welcoming. The care given by the staff is superb my mother couldn't receive better care and that makes me happy because she is happy.

Mum has been in the home since May 2016. Since arriving, her care has been exemplary. This includes management right down to the carers. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. Mum was in a different home prior to Longcliffe Nursing Home which she hated hence the move. She has settled very well. She was put on 'end of life care' October '16. It's February 2017 now, and this obviously speaks volumes for the care she is being given. I haven't met a member of staff that isn't eager to please. I hope staff get to see the positive reviews.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care my aunt has received since entering the home eight months ago. The home is not too large so ensuring the residents have individual care which to me appears continual. On several occasions I have arrived to find carers talking with my aunt who is bed bound - she thinks they are all wonderful!!!

My mother has been at the home since 2010. She has been looked after very well and staff have kept me informed of any problems promptly. The staff are very friendly and caring.

My father is cared for extremely well on the whole. There does appear to be a shortage of carers at times and my father says it can be difficult often to get a carer to help. Meal times are good, with a nice variety of meals and plenty to eat. It is a happy, friendly atmosphere and all our family and friends are made welcome.

Our family was very reluctant for our mother to go into a home. Me and my brother went round chosen care homes to see what was on offer. To be perfectly frank, there were only two homes we would consider. Out of the two Longcliffe was the most welcoming, homely and inviting. We have had a few problems along the way but they have always been dealt with quickly and sensitively. The care my mother receives is excellent. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty for the residents. I have no qualms about my mother being in Longcliffe Nursing Home.
