As with everybody else, the thoughts of your loved one entering care is full of trepidation. Gladly, these thoughts were put aside when we came to Magna Court. From that first day - 11th November 2016 until now - 10th December 2019, I have nothing but thanks to all of the staff from management all the
way through, for kindness and care, excellent food, cleanliness etc

Lovely staff, made visitors feel very welcome and part of the 'family'. My friend was very comfortable here. A lot of effort goes into the events for the residents. The staff were very good with accommodating/adjusting my friend's likes and dislikes concerning food and activities.

My uncle had been in two previous care homes but was more settled here than he was in the others. The staff were more caring and welcoming. They also kept me informed at every opportunity. Extremely caring when he passed away both to him and his family.

Mum really enjoys the singers that come in, (so do I, they are very good). Staff work very hard decorating and organising the events.
I do feel that the number of carers could be increased as some residents require 2 carers to assist which leaves the lounge short at times. Most residents need help
to go to the toilet and to be moved.

We have always found the staff very helpful and keep us well informed regarding any change my uncles health or change of medication. My only concern is both myself and his friend find him unshaven, very untidy and dirty clothing when visiting.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Magna Care HomeThank you for your kind words in relation to our staff, and also for raising your concern with us. This allows us to drive forward improvements within the home. As discussed with yourselves there have been occasions where your family member was found to be in a less than satisfactory state. We have now put measures in place to prevent this from happening again.

We moved dad here in the beginning of the summer after a stay in a different care home where he didn't settle at all. Instantly, dad moved here and was made very welcome and treated like one of the family. He started eating better and like the food and staff. We are all made to feel welcome and is like
one big family. Dad often enjoys activities organised by the team and genuinely enjoys being here. I feel very happy leaving dad here when I leave. Staff are excellent. Thank you.

The staff at Magna Care Home are all hard working and dare about all the residents in every possible way.
They are extremely professional and always on hand. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They always greet you with a smile and will answer any question you may have.
The home itself is clean
and tidy and the garden is well laid out.

I have found the staff are very pleasant and helpful. If you need to know anything they will do their best to answer any question. The only thing I find wrong is the odour on the first floor. Sometimes you cannot get on your car park because it is occupied by the keep fit club across the road. Also,
there are no blue badge bays as I can see.

Halloween Day was very good with a good singer who played the guitar.
My wife was waving her arms in good time to music and enjoying herself, followed up by a buffet.
All the staff had gone to a lot of trouble with their costumes and decoration of the room.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.545)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.545) out of 10 for Magna Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.645 for Magna Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.645
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Magna Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
