The whole time was enjoyed by everyone there, judging by the smiles. Although I am not a resident myself, I can honestly say, I enjoyed myself too.
I find, on every visit, the atmosphere is a happy one and staff are really helpful and kind.
My husband says meals are lovely too. A big thank you to everyone.

Our dad spent six weeks in Barchester Newton House Care Home. He was so happy there. The staff were loving and caring right up to the very end. They allowed him to keep his dignity which was so important to both him and us. Not only did they care so well for Dad but they looked after us all too. We could never thank you all enough.

My husband was a resident in Barchester Newton House Care Home from September 2023 to February 2024. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and support that they provided him. They engaged with him and really turned a corner with him. He started interacting with other residents and joined in with the wonderful activities provided. He even started smiling again and regained some of his personality. Something I hadn't seen for a very long time. Thank you to all at Newton House for making the last few months of his life special.

They are also welcoming when visiting and keep us well-informed.
The activity team there are brilliant, providing a full activity calendar with the staff always doing it with such enthusiasm and energy.
It is so reassuring to know that Mum is in a home that provides her with the support she needs whilst also encouraging her to keep as much independence as possible and still get the most out of every day.

Mum received excellent care during her stay there, the staff were friendly and made her feel at ease and she loved the bird table provided by the activity team. And then when my mum suddenly passed away recently, they couldn't have been more caring and supportive, I am so grateful.

We are very happy with the service provided by Newton House. After an experience with another home that was simply not geared up to deal with the challenges of dementia, we have been so happy and relieved to find Newton House. The staff provide caring and professional help for all aspects of my mum’s needs. At times her behaviour can be very challenging but they deal with it effectively and reassuringly. The regular activities are excellent and my mum really enjoys them. They are well organised and everyone seems to have a great time. Thank you very much for the support you have given to my mum and our family.

Overall I can’t fault the care home. The care team are very good, and some really do go above and beyond which has been lovely. The ward nurses we have seen have been good apart from a couple of occasions we have had issues with meds which have really disrupted mum’s pain when there’s been no need for it to be delayed, but discussions about these times have been dealt with. The night team was fantastic! The entertainment team, mum is bed-bound and hasn’t joined in much, but their visits to her room and interaction with us as a family have been fantastic, asking if I’m ok always happy to chat with us. Same with the front desk staff as I visit every day I’m always greeted every morning and again always asked if I need anything, despite being here every day. The cleaning staff are great, sorting flowers and one always cleans mum room before I get there so she’s not calling in when I’m there, she always asks how we all are too. Overall the care home is somewhere I would recommend to anyone and have.
Thank you for taking the time to add a review. We value feedback shared so that we can work with families to support you and continuously improve our service. We are so sorry that you shared comments on your review about medication, we understand that you had spoken with the General Manager for...
My dad has moved across the county and this, in turn, has caused a lot of upset for him but all the staff from the general manager down have worked so hard to make this transition as comfortable as possible. Nothing has been too much trouble and even with advanced dementia, my dad will say how happy he is and how much he likes living at Barchester Newton House Care Home. As a family, we want to say thank you!

My dad has been at Newton House for 15 months. The staff are second to none and the activities are amazing, always doing activities he may never have attempted before in his life. The interaction with the exotic animals this week and the trip out to the horses, which he used to ride as a young man has been very therapeutic for him and the other residents. Giving him a good quality of life at 89 years old. The food is always of good quality and all the staff are very helpful with the communication with the family too.

Overall I’m happy with everything and my husband is very happy there. I can’t fault anything, although sometimes the food is a bit hit-and-miss but generally happy with everything. The activities team is first-class and excellent.
