Went to visit my brother today and what a turnaround. He seems much happier and relaxed, due to the help of a member of staff, in particular. The garden cafe is fantastic. My brother and I spent a good hour in there, it is brilliant, you can make a hot drink and yes, bickies! My brother has been helping
with the new flower, herb plot and hanging baskets. He has always been an outdoor person and I think this has helped him. Big thank you to this member of staff, you have made my day.
Reply from Davey Taverner, Digital Marketing Manager at Barton Brook Care HomeGood afternoon Bernadette, thank you so much for taking the time to review Barton Brook so highly. We are so thrilled that your brother has settled in well with us and you are able to enjoy our garden cafe and are happy to hear that we have been able to keep your brother's green thumb in use too. Thank you again for the lovely words. We hope to see you soon.

I cannot express enough how fabulous the new "garden café is"! A fantastic place to break out with Mum, a very welcome change from sitting in the room. The staff who made this happen, including the maintenance guys, need a big pat on the back!
Will definitely pop in again!

We were initially very worried about my brother settling in a care home but the staff have been nothing short of superb, every single one of them have made him so welcome. He is loving the meals that are provided; he's never eaten so well. The building is being well maintained by onsite maintenance
team. His own room is well-equipped and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and informative with relations of residents as well. We now have peace of mind that my brother is well looked after in a very well managed care home.
Reply from Davey Taverner, Digital Marketing Manager at Barton Brook Care HomeThank you for taking the time to review Barton Brook so highly, we understand that placing a loved one in care can be such a hard decision for any family to make. We are really pleased with the care Mum has received over the last few months since the appointment of a unit manager. All the care staff are very kind, supportive and approachable and any problems are addressed immediately by the manager. The cleaning, laundry and kitchen staff all do an excellent
job. We have noticed a big improvement in Mum's health which is due to the excellent care she is receiving. A big thank you to all staff involved.

Mum appears to be happy here. She said everyone is very kind to her.
The carers and nurses will listen to any concerns we have. I feel there appear to have been improvements to the care home in the past few weeks. The staff appear more settled and happier working here too.

My husband has been in the care home just over twelve months.
I wasn't impressed with the home the first few months.
But over the past six months, it has improved, the staff are very pleasant and helpful.
I am sure if there is room for improvement they will achieve it.

My sister has been a long-term resident at Barton Brook Care Home and now resides in Irwell House where the unit manager leads a team of staff who are always helpful and upbeat.
They are always happy to engage with my sister and help in communicating with her despite aphasia after a stroke.
The unit
has a happy vibe and a good team of care staff.

This morning, the lovely lady from the office walked around with me to Moss to let me in, this was a great help as I can not stand for very long and sometimes it does take a long time to be let in. I also think it would be a good idea to have some disabled parking, I sometimes find it very hard to park.

Cannot praise the staff enough. Caring, efficient and friendly. My dad's happy and enjoys the meals so much. All the staff from carers, cleaners, office staff, management and maintenance workers know the residents by name and often interact talking to them and high-fiving them, so nice to see. The home
is warm, clean and welcoming. Having dementia, he can have good and bad days, but he is always well cared for.

The staff are very caring and efficient. My husband has been a resident for just over a year. Sometimes, his behaviour is challenging, but I have been very impressed by the patience and kindness of the staff. I visit several times a week, and he is always clean and well-dressed. I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend Barton Brown Care Home.

My husband has been in the home for four weeks, much improved from his hospital stay of 12 weeks. Now eating, food is excellent here. Although he has advanced dementia, he is now much more aware. Nurses are very kind, but I would like him home and have applied for this as I think his quality of life
would improve surrounded by all our family.

There is a lot of room for improvement and with poor previous care standards, hopefully, 2022 will bring these changes. Currently not a facility to recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.293)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.293) out of 10 for Barton Brook Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.293 for Barton Brook Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (225 Excellents x 5) + (99 Goods x 4) + (42 Satisfactorys x 3) + (13 Poors x 2) + (14 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 393 Ratings = 4.293
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barton Brook Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
