Although mum was only admitted in February, meaning I have not been able to enter the home, it is clear from her presentation and demeanor that mum is well looked after and happy in Barton Brook. She always says that everyone is very nice and that nothing is too much trouble (although she would like
to go out!)

I have lived here for 15 years and have found the situation at the home totally acceptable. The home is adequately comfortable and spacious and the facilities are very acceptable. The staff are very helpful and more than capable in their roles as carers. The little garden adds to the general standard
of the home as a whole.

The pod is a really good idea, you are able to see your family and be close to them. After not being able to see my mum for 14 months, being in the same room and speaking to her face to face, it has helped so much with both our mental health, and peace of mind.

On entering Barton Brook Care Home the staff (day/night) have been very supportive and encouraging with nothing too much for them. They have treated me with respect and dignity when I was unable to do things for myself. As I get more mobile they are there for me giving me encouragement and support with
a smile. They are very caring and professional in helping me get better. Without them I would find it harder to advance in the way I am. I am very grateful to all of them

I couldn't wish for a better care home for my wife than Moss House at Barton Brook. The management and staff are brilliant with the residents. The home is always kept very clean, I know my wife is being well looked after and that helps me very much. I don't think I could find a better care home for
my wife to stay in.

My mum has been a resident of Moss House for 4 years. The care she receives from all the team is excellent. My mum is happy and healthy. They have done a fantastic job of keeping everyone safe throughout the COVID pandemic, and for that, I thank them all.

This is my first visit to the care home due to Covid lockdown indoor. Have had an outside visit with my sister to visit our Mum and was really pleased to see Mum. All the staff when telephoning to ask about our mum or to speak to Mum have been really helpful. The feedback from staff has been brilliant.
The manager from Moss House has always kept us up to date about Mum's medication, how Mum is in herself and what things she needs. We can't thank them all enough for looking after our mum.

My mum has been a resident for five months. Each time I have visited the home I have found all staff to be most helpful and friendly. Mum has enjoyed her time here and she can't speak highly enough of staff. She loves being here and really enjoys the company which she didn't have at home.

I think under the circumstances my mum has been well cared for but more importantly kept safe through the pandemic. The manager has done an outstanding job, she has gone above and beyond to keep COVID out of the unit. My mum always looks presentable when I visit her at the window and happy. As long
as she is safe and happy and well presented the I am happy. Also thank you to all the staff for caring for her.

Because of Covid19 restrictions, I am unable to answer some of the questions. My husband was very reluctant to go into care for respite but ended up loving it. I phone them every day to check up on him, and the staff and manager I spoke to were always very pleasant. My husband's mental health nurse
went to visit him several times and told me he was loving being kept busy and "helping staff" and joining in dancing and singing. Can't thank Moss House enough.

My father-in-law has been in Moss House for the past 4 years he has dementia, he is happy and well cared for. Unfortunately because of the pandemic, we have been unable to visit, but a phone call every week to Moss House enables us to know he is well. Any problems and they phone us immediately. The
staff are brilliant with him and the manager of Moss House is understanding, we know she cares for all the residents, their welfare and well being is her main concern at all times. At Christmas, we received a special tree bauble she had made with a photo of dad in it! What a wonderful present for us to keep.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.293)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.293) out of 10 for Barton Brook Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.293 for Barton Brook Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (225 Excellents x 5) + (99 Goods x 4) + (42 Satisfactorys x 3) + (13 Poors x 2) + (14 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 393 Ratings = 4.293
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barton Brook Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
