My cousin went into Barton Brook Care Home two or three years ago. The care she received from day one was brilliant. I can't thank the staff enough for the care and attention they gave my cousin - brilliant.

My mum has been a permanent resident for two years, and during this time, I have been more than happy regarding the care and interaction that Mum has received, from the nurses, care staff and housekeepers. I am aware of how demanding the role is for all the staff.

All the staff are so polite, caring and professional. They take time to ensure the care of all the patients is at the top of their priorities throughout the day. The ward is a fun place to be with lots of activities. The standards of care are exceptional.

Since my mother came to Moss House back in July 2019 she has experienced professional care/love and support from all the members of staff. The unit is one big family who make you and your family feel so welcome. We love coming to any social events and getting involved with the staff. They are all so
approachable and likeable. Keep up the good work! Thanks.

The standard of hygiene second to none. I cannot put into words how I feel about the care. Attention and friendliness given to me and every single person in Barton Brook - amazing. I would not hesitate to stay here again if need be. Even the garden is pretty to sit in with seats and benches. I can not
thank all the staff and HC-One enough. Very grateful.

During the time I have been here in Barton Brook Care Home I have received care, understanding and friendship from all the staff. I was poorly when I arrived but upon leaving I am now ready to go home and cope with help at home. I have kept my dignity and it has been a pleasure to have been a patient
at Barton Brook and also given me my confidence back.

We had been caring for mum at home with the help of carers. Mum's dementia became worse and she no longer safe and she had lost weight.
On admission to the home, everything improved, the care and attention to detail for her wellbeing improved in the first week.
Our worries were taken away and mum
is settled and happy. Cannot fault the care she receives.

My mum has been on intermediate care for 5 weeks on Irwell House and has today been discharged. Our opinion as a family would like to say thanks for the care, kindness and respect from all the staff on this unit, you have all been absolutely brilliant and although you have a hard job to do you still
found time for my mum who is trying to keep her independence and you the staff let her do that, so thank you all so much.

Friendly and helpful staff. It seems a little understaffed for the number of residents. My aunt said the food was poor.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, TBC at Barton Brook Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your kind comments about our staff, I will share this with them at our next team meeting. We aim to provide the highest standard of care at Barton Brook at all times and staffing is reviewed daily against Resident dependencies. We have a variety of meals available, at lunch there are two options and three for the main evening meal; alternatives can be offered too. Our chef regularly visits the units to gather feedback from our Residents and we are continually improving on the presentation of our meals. Should you wish to discuss any of these issues further, please do not hesitate to contact us at HC-One.co.uk

My father has been a resident since March 2019. He suffers from Alzheimer's disease and was very reluctant to go into care. Despite that, he has settled in very well and has accepted being in a care home. He is now the most relaxed and content we have seen him in a long time. The staff are kind, caring
and enjoy having him there.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.245)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.245) out of 10 for Barton Brook Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.245 for Barton Brook Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (238 Excellents x 5) + (117 Goods x 4) + (48 Satisfactorys x 3) + (19 Poors x 2) + (15 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 437 Ratings = 4.245
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barton Brook Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
