I live a long way out of the area and I am planning a visit very soon but my sister lives locally hence, she is able to visit weekly and is very happy with the care that Mum is receiving.
I am looking forward to meeting the team soon and in the meantime, it is very reassuring to know that she is being well looked after.
Thank you all.
Thank you so much for taking the care to review our home - it is so appreciated. Our team look forward to welcoming you soon! Best wishes.
Mum was a resident at Prince Alfred between March 2019 and June 2022, when she sadly passed away.
Although the progression of dementia was always there in the background, moving into Prince Alfred brought Mum back to life again. She seemed to enjoy life again, and the family are convinced it was the standard of care given, in a supportive environment that was responsible for this reawakening.
Whilst they aren't the lowest cost provider, the care given and interaction with the residents is excellent.
The measures put in place throughout Covid (and to the present day) have been exemplary and proactive, ensuring the residents are protected above all else.
I wholeheartedly recommend this home if your loved one needs residential care.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review Prince Alfred and for your outstanding review. Our team will so appreciate your kind words - they really do mean the world. Thank you. Best wishes, Fae
I could not be happier with the care she is recieving.
Prince Alfred has a real family feel.
Mum has had so much support and the team could not have been more supportive to her and myself as this was a big change for us all.
I could not recommend the home enough and that is down to the whole team and how amazing they all are always a smile and nothing is too much.
Mum always tells me how amazing the food is, they have activities and trips and she loves having her nails painted.
So thank you the team Prince Alfred for all your care and support.
We as a family are greatly disappointed in Prince Alfred. They excluded our Mother from her home without notice because she had fallen twice in two months. Our Mum is in her 90s and was left homeless by this terrible action. She was forced to spend a whole month in a hospital ward with no home to return to. This was not an ideal situation to put a frail 90 yr old into. A little more care and thought from the care home would have saved our Mum so much distress. After all, why call it a care home if care is refused.
This led to her being trapped in hospital causing a severe deterioration of her dementia over the last 5 weeks.
This was supposed to be her home. We placed our trust in management to be there for her.
She is safe now in a new home that was more than happy to provide the new bed and mats as offered by her care team.
Truly shocked and disappointed that this can happen. The management wants no one here who has any needs, anyone who might require more effort. More interested in pushing family to give her home top reviews. Well, I hope she takes this into account next time she decides to throw out a 97-year-old lady from her home for falling out of an inappropriate bed.
Unfortunately, there are times when a home must make the difficult decision that they...
When I visit my mother, I book a slot and visit in a ‘pod’ in the garden. In truth, it is a lovely conservatory in the garden. It is a lovely environment in which to be able to chat with my mother and she enjoys looking out at the flowers and wildlife. I get little opportunity to see members of the team now with not being able to go into the main building. I want to express my grateful thanks to them all for all that they have done, in very difficult circumstances, to look after not only my Mum but the other residents. Without the manager and her team showing such care and compassion and keeping routines running smoothly, lives for the residents would not have the contentment that they enjoy due to their kindness and hard work. I travel a long way to visit my mother and the team always do their best to accommodate my requests to visit. I count my blessings that my mother lives at Prince Alfred.
Thank you so much for your kind words about our home and team, it is wonderful to hear how pleased you are with their care and kindness. Our visiting pods really have been a blessing during this time - and we are so glad you feel it's comfy and homely.
When we visited the home before Mum moved in, my daughter and I were very impressed with the home. Our Mum has recently moved into Prince Alfred. Mum is still a little unsettled with the move, however, the staff and management are doing everything they can to help with the transition, not only for Mum but for us, the family.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our home and for your kind words. We do hope your mum settles soon - I am sure she will love it at Prince Alfred.
My mother has been a resident at Prince Alfred now for over 4 years, and she has been treated with love and respect. I am always kept informed of any changes in her health and kept updated on what is/has happened. The Manager and her team have been fabulous.
Thank you for your review and for such kind words about our team. I'm sure the team love having your mum as part of the Prince Alfred family. Best wishes, Fae
I have been a resident at Prince Alfred since April 2021 and wish to submit a review of my personal experience of staying at Prince Alfred for respite care and can report my satisfaction is very high. Visitors to their family members do not get to see the inner working of the care home and how well all members of staff treat and look after the residents. I reiterate how satisfied I am with the care I am receiving at Prince Alfred.
My mum has been living at Prince Alfred Care Home now for over 2-years, and I am delighted with the standards of care she receives. All the carers are totally committed to doing their best and you can see this is more than just a job to them, they really do connect emotionally with the residents. I know my mum is happy there, which makes me happy. I have peace of mind knowing my mum is being looked after really well.
This care home is the most welcoming, caring, thoughtful care home out there. They take care of everyone to their fullest potential with their kindest hearts. They are always making sure everyone is comfortable and happy. There is not a single bad word you could say about this home. It is so homely and friendly you could trust them with anything. They make sure the people who live there and visit are as satisfied as they can be. They treat everyone with kindness and respect. Could not fault them.
I absolutely love the staff at Prince Alfred. Both my mum and dad were in their care and they were looked after as if they were family. Nothing was too much for the whole team. Always welcomed with a smile and an update on what’s been happening in the care home. The rooms were spotless as were all the facilities. The cinema room was so good and it felt like you were actually in the movies.
My nan is really happy in Prince Alfred. Staff are friendly, caring and helpful. It's very clean and my nan enjoys the food and activities.
My nan is receiving such a high standard of care tailored to her needs. My nan is always telling me about the activities she has joined in. My nan has settled in well and has made friends. Whenever I visit or phone my nan she is always cheerful, telling me about the tea party she had just attended with matching teapots and cups. The lunch club, she looks forward to and is always joining in new activities daily organised by the activities lady and staff. The manager and staff go over and beyond. The home is always immaculately clean and my nan loves her room which overlooks the park. I could not have choosen a better home for my nan. She has put weight on and is always saying how lovely the food is. It gives me reassurance to know my nan is having such a lovely time while receiving excellent care. Always a party or something to look forward to. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for looking after my nan in a lovely safe friendly and caring environment.
When I and my brother were told by doctors in 2019 to find a care home for mum, we had no clue about what to do or expect. After spending a few days visiting care homes in Liverpool we were pretty frazzled by everything. Some of the places we visited were truly awful. For the family, this is an ordeal too. And then we found Prince Alfred. Sitting in the reception area we heard the sound of laughter and singing. An afternoon singalong was on for the residents. That was it. I looked at my brother and we both knew we'd found the right place for mum. She moved in in March 2019 and she hasn't been happier since she fell ill with dementia. The care from the nurses and staff is superb. The place itself feels homely. It is clean and bright. Mum feels safe and is surrounded by people her own age that she shares the day with. For me, she is a different person from the mum we grew up with but she is alive again - which I cannot thank Prince Alfred enough for.
My aunty has been at Prince Alfred for a couple of years now and I can honestly say I've never seen her happier. We have been able to keep in touch over the last year through Skype and the staff have been great at contacting us. We are all looking forward to getting back to normal and being able to visit this lovely care home.
So impressed with the service and dedication of the team here, they have ensured that my aunt's welfare has been at the forefront throughout the pandemic. They have continued to keep spirits high and ensured she has not felt alone or unwanted. Throughout the lockdowns, they have kept family members informed and they have never been anything but polite and helpful when dealing with our constant calls for updates. Thank you so much.
My uncle is so happy there. It is lovely to see the care and love he is given by the staff. A real home from home. It is so reassuring to see him so happy and content in such wonderful surroundings. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs it.
I can not fault this home. My mother-in-law is so content and happy. She is always praising the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always cheerful and have worked so hard through the pandemic to keep all the residents safe. I'm so pleased I chose Prince Alfred for my mother-in-law. It's spotless. The manager and staff will always go above and beyond.
My Aunt has been in the care of the Prince Alfred team for several years. I have witnessed a very heartfelt and caring approach towards my Aunt and other residents when I have visited. They have a very appropriate tactile approach to my aunt, making sure the 'little things' are met, brushing her hair to the style she has always preferred, thought is always put into her outfit every day, they even ensure she has her earrings in! The staff always give a good handover to myself and my family of what has occurred in-between visits. They manage her medication, her moods, her wants and needs effectively and thoughtfully. We visited many homes before we made our choice, on entering Prince Alfred and the first impressions we viewed we thought this was the right place for her. Years later we absolutely know we made the right choice.
