The team at Prince Alfred provide residential and respite care and are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents each and every day.

The gardens, which overlook the stunning Mystery Park, are spectacular – last year the home won an internal competition run by its not-for-profit provider Sanctuary Care, which challenged their staff and residents to create designs for the garden of their dreams, which were turned into reality!

The residents love growing their own produce in the raised beds, which they pick for the chefs to use in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of purpose and achievement. They also pick their own home-grown flowers for flower arranging activities. The residents were proud as punch to eat carrot cake with their afternoon tea recently, home-baked with carrots they had picked that day!

There are so many activities to enjoy at Prince Alfred, from barbecues with family and friends, to a recent rum punch and cocktail hour and pampering in the hair salon.

The team champion the residents to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. One of the residents runs his own book club at the home, while another, who is the home’s resident ambassador, runs the residents’ meetings.

The community is embraced into life at Prince Alfred. The residents loved their recent visit from Liverpool Museum’s mobile House of Memories project, where they reminisced over nostalgic pieces of the city’s history.

The home-cooked food is delicious, with two chefs who cook everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to authentic curries. And there are always home-baked cakes or biscuits every day for afternoon tea. One of the chefs recently took part in Sanctuary Care’s Masterchef contest, so watch this space!

Family and friends are welcome anytime. There is also a private Facebook page, so they can see what the residents have been enjoying doing each and every day.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1176 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

My mother has been a resident at Prince Alfred now for over 4 years, and she has been treated with love and respect. I am always kept informed of any changes in her health and kept updated on what is/has happened. The Manager and her team have been fabulous.

This care home is the most welcoming, caring, thoughtful care home out there. They take care of everyone to their fullest potential with their kindest hearts. They are always making sure everyone is comfortable and happy. There is not a single bad word you could say about this home. It is so homely

I absolutely love the staff at Prince Alfred. Both my mum and dad were in their care and they were looked after as if they were family. Nothing was too much for the whole team. My nan is receiving such a high standard of care tailored to her needs. My nan is always telling me about the activities she has joined in. My nan has settled in well and has made friends. Whenever I visit or phone my nan she is always cheerful, telling me about the tea party she had just attended with
matching teapots and cups. The lunch club, she looks forward to and is always joining in new activities daily organised by the activities lady and staff. The manager and staff go over and beyond. The home is always immaculately clean and my nan loves her room which overlooks the park. I could not have choosen a better home for my nan. She has put weight on and is always saying how lovely the food is. It gives me reassurance to know my nan is having such a lovely time while receiving excellent care. Always a party or something to look forward to. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for looking after my nan in a lovely safe friendly and caring environment.

When I and my brother were told by doctors in 2019 to find a care home for mum, we had no clue about what to do or expect. After spending a few days visiting care homes in Liverpool we were pretty frazzled by everything. Some of the places we visited were truly awful. For the family, this is an ordeal
too. And then we found Prince Alfred. Sitting in the reception area we heard the sound of laughter and singing. An afternoon singalong was on for the residents. That was it. I looked at my brother and we both knew we'd found the right place for mum. She moved in in March 2019 and she hasn't been happier since she fell ill with dementia. The care from the nurses and staff is superb. The place itself feels homely. It is clean and bright. Mum feels safe and is surrounded by people her own age that she shares the day with. For me, she is a different person from the mum we grew up with but she is alive again - which I cannot thank Prince Alfred enough for.

So impressed with the service and dedication of the team here, they have ensured that my aunt's welfare has been at the forefront throughout the pandemic. They have continued to keep spirits high and ensured she has not felt alone or unwanted. Throughout the lockdowns, they have kept family members

My uncle is so happy there. It is lovely to see the care and love he is given by the staff. A real home from home. It is so reassuring to see him so happy and content in such wonderful surroundings. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs it.

I can not fault this home. My mother-in-law is so content and happy. She is always praising the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always cheerful and have worked so hard through the pandemic to keep all the residents safe. I'm so pleased I chose Prince Alfred for my mother-in-law.
It's spotless. The manager and staff will always go above and beyond.

My Aunt has been in the care of the Prince Alfred team for several years. I have witnessed a very heartfelt and caring approach towards my Aunt and other residents when I have visited. They have a very appropriate tactile approach to my aunt, making sure the 'little things' are met, brushing her hair
to the style she has always preferred, thought is always put into her outfit every day, they even ensure she has her earrings in! The staff always give a good handover to myself and my family of what has occurred in-between visits. They manage her medication, her moods, her wants and needs effectively and thoughtfully. We visited many homes before we made our choice, on entering Prince Alfred and the first impressions we viewed we thought this was the right place for her. Years later we absolutely know we made the right choice.

My Nan was incredibly reluctant to move into a residential home, however, as soon as she entered Prince Alfred's she hasn’t looked back since! She is so much happier. She loves her room and looking over the park, she’s eating better than ever- she couldn’t want for anything. The staff have been amazing
throughout the pandemic and have ensured her safety and well-being when family haven’t been able to visit. We’re always able to contact her, never a problem. They always go above and beyond for her and have been so considerate to my family throughout. As well as all the essential care she receives, they take time to do her hair, even paint her nails, they’re always organising celebrations and parties and activities to keep her and other residents busy. They’re very attentive and spend a lot of time talking to her and sharing laughter which has been essential to her happiness. I couldn’t recommend somewhere more highly! You can put your trust in Prince Alfred's staff, they’re exceptional.

My friend moved into Prince Alfred Care Home in October 2019 after a stay in hospital. From the very beginning, the manager and all the staff have been very supportive, caring and protective of my friend. During this Covid-19 pandemic, the care she has received has been outstanding. I am so relieved
my friend has settled in so well and when I ring her or she rings me she has nothing but praise for all the staff, the care she receives and the excellent food. I can’t thank the manager and staff enough.

Thank you to all the staff at Prince Alfred for caring for my Auntie.
I can't visit because of Covid but all I know is every time I ring her she is happy.
Just been to a party or just going to a party, playing and winning at Bingo. She said the staff are all amazing and she had put weight on because
the food is so nice. Yes, she's sad because she can't see her family, but the staff have made her life so much more comfortable. She is an 87-year-old outspoken lady who I know would tell me if she was unhappy.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving her all the love and support at this awful time. Merry Christmas all of you.

Our uncle was only there for a short while, but we know he couldn't have been happier or cared for better while there. The staff couldn't have taken any better care of him if he had been in private care. All the staff, without exception, were caring and very compassionate (sadly lacking in so many nursing
homes).

When the time comes to make that decision, you know the one that neither daughter nor son ever wants to really make, the one where your loved one must leave their home and move into residential care, well when that time comes I truly hope you choose Prince Alfred. From the moment we first made contact
with the house manager to the moment Mum moved in, the service, the communication, the advice, and most importantly the reassurance given was impeccable and above all others within the area, and trust me I investigated the lot! During these strenuous times, the whole team have been wonderful. But that’s who they are...a team. Making Mum feel so welcome, really getting to know her, what she likes and doesn’t, what her interests are and all done with the utmost kindness and respect. Even introducing her to other residents to make friends. This truly is a home from home and I cannot thank them enough for the care and love they show Mum whilst I am so very far away. Thank you.

My mum has been at Prince Alfred for over 4 years. The staff are all wonderful. The care my mum has received over the years has been excellent.
During the outbreak of the virus the manager and staff could not have done any more to keep everyone safe.

I cannot speak highly enough of Prince Alfred Residential Care Home, they have given my grandad a new lease of life! Before he went there, we were told that he might not last until Christmas, and now, 18 months later, he's better than he's ever looked! He's put weight on (thanks to the amazing food
they serve there), and he doesn't even feel like he's in a care home, he calls it his house! The staff are all angels! Nothing is too much trouble for them and they treat my grandad like he's family, we can call at any time to speak to staff and they are always happy to help, they make you feel like family. Its been a huge weight off of our minds knowing that he's basically being treated like a king, and my grandad actually enjoying his twilight years. I cannot recommend this care home enough, if you're looking for a care home, then this one is the best!
