Prince Alfred care home provides residential and respite care, with a team devoted to enriching residents’ lives every day. The gardens, overlooking beautiful Mystery Park, are a standout feature - designed by staff and residents after winning an internal Sanctuary Care competition. Raised beds allow residents to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, which are used for cooking and flower arranging. Recently, residents enjoyed carrot cake baked with home-grown carrots, giving a real sense of achievement.

Activities include barbecues with family and friends, cocktail hours, and pampering in the hair salon. Residents play an active role in home life, with one running a book club and another leading residents’ meetings as ambassador. Community connections are strong, with visits such as Liverpool Museum’s House of Memories project, sparking conversations about local history.

Dining is a highlight, with two chefs preparing everything from roast dinners to authentic curries, plus home-baked cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea. One chef recently competed in Sanctuary Care’s Masterchef contest. Families are welcome anytime and can stay connected through a private Facebook page.

My friend moved into Prince Alfred Care Home in October 2019 after a stay in hospital. From the very beginning, the manager and all the staff have been very supportive, caring and protective of my friend. During this Covid-19 pandemic, the care she has received has been outstanding. I am so relieved
my friend has settled in so well and when I ring her or she rings me she has nothing but praise for all the staff, the care she receives and the excellent food. I can’t thank the manager and staff enough.

Thank you to all the staff at Prince Alfred for caring for my Auntie.
I can't visit because of Covid but all I know is every time I ring her she is happy.
Just been to a party or just going to a party, playing and winning at Bingo. She said the staff are all amazing and she had put weight on because
the food is so nice. Yes, she's sad because she can't see her family, but the staff have made her life so much more comfortable. She is an 87-year-old outspoken lady who I know would tell me if she was unhappy.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving her all the love and support at this awful time. Merry Christmas all of you.

Our uncle was only there for a short while, but we know he couldn't have been happier or cared for better while there. The staff couldn't have taken any better care of him if he had been in private care. All the staff, without exception, were caring and very compassionate (sadly lacking in so many nursing
homes).

When the time comes to make that decision, you know the one that neither daughter nor son ever wants to really make, the one where your loved one must leave their home and move into residential care, well when that time comes I truly hope you choose Prince Alfred. From the moment we first made contact
with the house manager to the moment Mum moved in, the service, the communication, the advice, and most importantly the reassurance given was impeccable and above all others within the area, and trust me I investigated the lot! During these strenuous times, the whole team have been wonderful. But that’s who they are...a team. Making Mum feel so welcome, really getting to know her, what she likes and doesn’t, what her interests are and all done with the utmost kindness and respect. Even introducing her to other residents to make friends. This truly is a home from home and I cannot thank them enough for the care and love they show Mum whilst I am so very far away. Thank you.

My mum has been at Prince Alfred for over 4 years. The staff are all wonderful. The care my mum has received over the years has been excellent.
During the outbreak of the virus the manager and staff could not have done any more to keep everyone safe.

I cannot speak highly enough of Prince Alfred Residential Care Home, they have given my grandad a new lease of life! Before he went there, we were told that he might not last until Christmas, and now, 18 months later, he's better than he's ever looked! He's put weight on (thanks to the amazing food
they serve there), and he doesn't even feel like he's in a care home, he calls it his house! The staff are all angels! Nothing is too much trouble for them and they treat my grandad like he's family, we can call at any time to speak to staff and they are always happy to help, they make you feel like family. Its been a huge weight off of our minds knowing that he's basically being treated like a king, and my grandad actually enjoying his twilight years. I cannot recommend this care home enough, if you're looking for a care home, then this one is the best!

My mum became a resident here at Prince Alfred care home in May 2020 (during coved 19 ).
It was a very difficult decision for me (her son). But I made a perfect choice with Prince Alfred Care Home.
My Auntie was here for a few years, on visiting her my mum and I got to know the manager and staff
very well and found them all to be caring, helpful and friendly.
I cannot recommend this care home enough, the manager is brilliant, both with patients needs, staff and family.
The atmosphere in the home is always warm, a homely feel, welcoming, spotless, catering to all the patient's needs.
Food is excellent, nothing is ever to much trouble to them.

My mum has been a resident for almost five years and it truly is a wonderful place of care, kindness and compassion. The award of "outstanding" for the care category by CQC is truly well deserved and reflects the fantastic care provided by the Prince Alfred Team. My mum was extremely well cared for,
which gave me tremendous peace of mind.
In the past year, a new activity/movie room has been completed and there is usually some form of residents activity most days. The care home itself has a very "homely" feel, warm, welcoming, whilst the cleanliness standards throughout the home are exceptional. I cannot thank the Prince Alfred team enough for the loving care provided to my mum - this truly is an outstanding care home.

This place is great, my mother has Alzheimer’s and has been living there for a year now and I cannot say a bad thing about it the staff are superb nothing is too much trouble, it’s very clean Has good food plenty of things to keep her occupied and she loves sitting out in the gardens.
I have peace
of mind knowing that she is in a home where I do not have to worry about anything at all and that she is very happy there.

My Mum, is a resident since November 2019, during that time two lockdowns have occurred, during this time she has remained safe and well, no mean feat.
Contact has been afforded using technology which is readily and widely available, a must. The residential care home is clean, pleasant and friendly.
Staff are interested in their roles as caregivers, responsive to residents which In turn creates a really good caring atmosphere for all residents. I am reassured that residing here was the best decision for my Mother.

Dad came here directly from the hospital during the lockdown, the home settled him in amazingly during a time when I could not visit, dad tells me the staff are amazing, couldn’t ask for more. The staff keep me updated during the lockdown, dad is hard to please so speaks volumes that he is happy there.

My mum has been a resident of Prince Alfred Care home for over 4 years now. I can't express how well she has been cared for and how wonderful all the staff are. They go above and beyond to ensure everyone is comfortable and happy. Due to her medical conditions my mum spends most of her time in her room
but is always checked on regularly. She is always clean, well-fed and her room is always kept clean and tidy. Since lockdown, which has been a very worrying time for everyone, the staff have kept me in touch with my mum by Facetiming with her, which gives me such peace of mind as I am currently unable to visit. The home has been exemplary in their care and hygiene during this time and all staff and residents have been kept safe and well. It is so reassuring knowing my mum is being well cared for by kind, caring staff in a clean and happy environment. I would not hesitate to recommend Prince Alfred Care home to anyone as I know how difficult this decision can be.

I am a friend to a dear 96-year-old gentleman for who has been a resident of Prince Alfred since early July 2019. At first, my dear friend was only planning to have a temporary stay until his operation and healing process deemed him ok to travel closer to family in Dorset. He had lived locally across
the park for 65 years with his wife. Sadly she passed away 12 years ago and life was not the same. Before his stay; a very kind Manager of the Care home came to visit him before discharge at a local hospital. Besides showing him photos of the facility; she spoke about meals, rooms, staff and showed a lot of interest in his background and likes and dislikes. This made me feel a lot more at ease just knowing that if the staff were half as nice as the Manager; it would be a definite win, win situation. I have seen the rooms and the home's facilities for which are all very clean and beautifully decorated. Activities happen often. Thumbs up!

Since moving here my mum has received nothing but the best of care from all the staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble for any of the staff and I can speak for all of mum's family members. We all are of the same opinion we know mum is being well looked after. The home is always spotless, she enjoys
the freshly cooked food and is always kept engaged by the caring staff here at Prince Alfred.
