From the moment we met the manager and the staff at Westhaven, we knew my dad would be in safe hands. The care and attention to detail they took were beyond our expectations. They treated him with the utmost respect and dignity and always with a cheerful smile and genuine feeling. This care was extended
to the whole family, especially his beloved wife. On the day of his passing we cannot praise the staff enough not only for his care but also ours and the knitted hearts placed in his hand and given to us was a beautiful touch we will not forget.

My husband spent two weeks in nursing care respite at Westhaven. We cannot fault the care that he received. The staff were very patient with him and took the time to understand and meet his needs. The atmosphere is lovely with lots of laughter and smiling faces - from staff at all levels. Because I
knew he was being looked after so well I was able to relax and enjoy my much-needed break. Thank you to everyone.

We did the usual run around for a nursing home to no avail. As soon as we entered Westhaven it felt right. The whole atmosphere was just so, so lovely, caring, bright, well staffed and caring. The care is very good, the food excellent and the little extra touches comforting.

I spent two weeks respite at Westhaven following a hip replacement. During that time I was treated with the utmost care and consideration. The staff were all kind and friendly and nothing was too much trouble to them.
The happy, homely atmosphere at Westhaven stems from the top and filters down through
all aspects and departments. Well done!

Westhaven is a lovely place. It's situated in a great location for the town, the train station, the buses and the seafront. Our mum has been living there for 12 months. There are lots of staff and they are very caring. They are also good fun. The rooms are very well-appointed, light and airy. This applies
to the bedrooms, the dining rooms and the sitting rooms. It's a very pleasant place to visit. We know that our mum is very well cared for at all times.

The decision for Dad to move into a care home was not made lightly. After looking around many local care homes Dad chose Westhaven.
He has been a resident for just over twelve months now and in that time he has been cared for with dignity and love by the wonderful team at Westhaven. Happy dad, happy

My brother was looked after and cared for by all members of staff. We could not fault anyone from highest to the lowest.
Nothing was too much trouble, he was always clean, changed and shaven.

From start to finish the professionalism of all the staff was apparent and welcomed. With this came friendliness and a genuine level of care for the resident and their family. They were attentive at all times and kept me informed throughout our journey in a kind but informative manner.


The staff

took the time to chat, even if they were busy. I didn't try the food (although I was offered it) but it smelled lovely.


When my Mum left us, she was very comfortable and dignified.


Thank you to everyone at Westhaven for all your hard work.

On the whole, I enjoyed my two-week stay at Westhaven Nursing Home. Basically, the staff were very friendly and efficient and could not do enough for me. My main complaint would be about the bed which I found too small and needed required remaking during the night. I was encouraged by the staff to mix
which I did find a bit reticent so I spent most of my time reading in my room. The food was varied and I particularly liked the curries.

Mum didn't want to go into a care home but as she became bedbound and more frail I was struggling to provide the level of care she needed at home. Westhaven had been recommended and when the Manager came out to chat with mum I felt reassured and we decided to give it a try. The staff were kind and tried
their best to cheer her up and encourage her to drink and eat. Their attention and care enabled her infected bed sores to heal and they helped me put everything in place at short notice to bring her home pain-free, for the last few days of her life. For the few weeks mum was there I was able to spend quality time with her watching her favour films and chatting. I could visit whenever I wanted and stay as long as I wanted. Whilst the careers were kind and some were really special and really cared for mum as if she were their own nan/mum. If your loved one has to go into a care home I would recommend Westhaven.

My daughter has been in Westhaven Nursing & Residential Home for just over two years she is very happy and content the staff couldn't do more. There are always staff if she needs anything the food is very good with plenty of choices each day freshly cooked. Birthdays are always a reason for a lovely
care to be made! Rooms are spotless - you would have to be difficult to please if you were not pleased with everything at Westhaven.

After being discharged from hospital, my grandad was at the home for a few final weeks before he passed. The home was very caring and active in making sure he was comfortable and received the best possible care. The compassion of the staff in his final days helped the rest of the family say their goodbyes

All the staff and management gave Mum great care, love and attention, I fully agree with the praise given in other reviews and further, add my grateful thanks for the advice given to myself from management and staff to someone who

I was in a previous care home before moving into Westhaven Nursing & Residential Home just over a year ago (Aug 21). Westhaven has been a revelation as far as my experience of a nursing home goes. The management and staff are amazing and can't do enough for you. They are kind and thoughtful. I don't
get involved in the activity programme but am always asked to join in.

My mum suffered from Alzheimer's disease and resided full-time in Westhaven from February 2021 until her passing in August 2023. I cannot speak highly enough of the care, love and attention Mum received whilst she was a resident. All staff are a credit to the home and made Mum a real part of Westhaven,
which became very much her home, where she was happy, safe, clean and comfortable. We were always welcomed, nothing was too much trouble for the staff who would sing and engage with Mum all day long. Lots of parties and fun activities too. I would 100% recommend Westhaven- we were always kept informed of Mum's health situation, her meds and changes to her care plan. Mum was treated with dignity, understanding and love.

My dad was at Westhaven for such a short time. The care and attention were faultless, however, he was given so much support his condition improved before passing. All staff and nurses spoke to him with respect and care looking after my mum who also visited daily. Would highly recommend this beautiful
home for loved ones. Every aspect was to a high standard. They deserve more than our thanks as a family indebted to them for making my dad happy comfortable and relaxed in his last weeks. Thank you all.

My father was taken to Westhaven for end-of-life care. He was there for 2 weeks. In that short time, the staff cared for Dad and gave him his dignity and the best quality of life we could have asked for. The professionals that were called into Dad by the staff all said how hard the nurses and management
had fought to improve and possibly extend his life. This gave us a few days when Dad was sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and laughing with us.
Sadly that wasn't to last too long.
All the staff, literally from the cleaners, maintenance, kitchen staff, carers, nurses and management cared for him so well and also to our large family that spent time with Dad.
His final hours were spent with family and we were cared for as much as they did Dad.
Absolutely fantastic team.

Experience is generally excellent - see ratings.
However, gaining entry at the weekend/on bank holidays, is very difficult. In the winder it is possible to be outside ringing the bell in wind, rain snow and hail for 10 minutes or more, whilst staff are busy caring for residents.
