My 102-year-old stayed dad Westhaven Nursing home for five weeks he was happy and content and told me repeatedly how kind everybody was how well he is looked after and the food was always hot and very nicely served. I felt free to ring at any time and was always impressed by the competent and friendly staff and management.

Dad looked a lot better leaving Westhaven than he did going in.

My mother was very well looked after during her stay. The admission process was straightforward and responsive, which is important as it can be a stressful time. Communication was good at all times, and staff were always knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful when visiting, or calling on the phone. The staff always seemed to be on top of medical issues that needed addressing and were able to provide the right equipment as needed.
The rooms and the building are very pleasant and functional, and allow the residents privacy and peace and quiet. Visiting Mum was easy as the bedroom was big enough and quiet, with additional chairs available. The lounge was also big enough to meet up in if needed, with plenty of comfortable chairs.

Westhaven was chosen because my father stayed there in 2018 and also found the same level of good care.

My father has been a resident here since September last year. The staff are excellent in their professionalism and ability to care for all residents. They have supported us and kept us informed with all issues involving dad. He has mobility issues but they have always done everything they can to help him and make him as comfortable and happy as possible. I'd like to thank everyone from us all.

We were lucky to stumble across Westhaven. My mother has mobility issues and Westhaven can cater for this. It is always clean and she seems happy and safe there. Security is good. There have been occasions where she has had to attend hospital and they have always communicated well and promptly.

My brother was in Westhaven for approximately 3 years. He was extremely well looked after. Whenever I visited all the staff were so very caring. He was a very sick man but was looked after with love and shown great dignity. I can never thank the carers enough.

You will appreciate it is a very painful time for mum’s family right now, but I just wanted to pass on our huge thanks for all the care, kindness and support your team showed Mum in her last few months. From the warm welcome, including mum’s favourite salmon sandwiches and soup on arrival, to the endless cups of tea to be able to watch her favourite movies from her youth. Your team showed excellence in their abilities, knowledge and skill, and I just wish Mum had, had more time to enjoy your lovely staff's special care.

Huge thanks!

My mother has been a resident in Westhaven for three years now. She is well cared for, and we have never had any problems. If we have concerns, we are able to talk about it. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Mum has been happy there, and the staff are always caring towards Mum. At the end of Mum's life, the staff were so caring and thoughtful and made sure Mum was comfortable until the end. We can't fault them at all.

Our cousin was with you for only a relatively short time, but she was very well cared for at the end of her life. The staff took the time to get to know her and appreciated the details that made a real difference. Friends and family who visited were always welcomed and taken care of too. Thank you all, because it really does make a difference.

My mother was a resident in the home of just over 2 years. I felt reassured from the start that she would be well cared for. The matron and staff understand her needs and personality and she went from being depressed and lonely, back to her normal happy self. The end of life care given to her was both excellent and comforting. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who is worried about putting their family into the care home system.

Thank you so much AC for taking the time to review us on the care home website. The care given in Westhaven was fantastic, they go the extra mile to make sure that the client is well and happy. They were so kind to my mum, nothing was to much trouble. The staff do their very best to help the people in their care, without their care my mum would have passed away a lot sooner than she did, mum loved it there, she said she felt safe which is a good feeling when you are elderly. Also loved the movie nights as well, food is freshly prepared, entertainment is provided as well. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. When my mum passed away the staff was extremely kind to me and my family, help was given along with sympathy tea and biscuits. I cannot recomend this home highly enough.

The overall standard of care was very good. I cannot judge on 'value for money'. My relative was in the home for 19 months over which time she deteriorated gradually as her illness progressed. We flagged up problems regarding personal hygiene on more than one occasion and the problem was dealt with appropriately. I felt that the staff genuinely cared about my relative and responded appropriately and in a timely fashion to any issues we raised.
My relative died in the home and she was treated with great respect and kindness even though she was usually asleep as she approached her death.
I was also very impressed by the way the home treated her husband. It was obviously a very difficult time for him and the staff were always kind and respectful of him and did everything in their power to help him too throughout my relative's stay in the home.

The staff I met were always friendly, kind and considerate and I was very happy with the home.
