Westhaven Nursing & Residential Home

I was in a previous care home before moving into Westhaven Nursing & Residential Home just over a year ago (Aug 21). Westhaven has been a revelation as far as my experience of a nursing home goes. The management and staff are amazing and can't do enough for you. They are kind and thoughtful. I don't get involved in the activity programme but am always asked to join in.

My mum suffered from Alzheimer's disease and resided full-time in Westhaven from February 2021 until her passing in August 2023. I cannot speak highly enough of the care, love and attention Mum received whilst she was a resident. All staff are a credit to the home and made Mum a real part of Westhaven, which became very much her home, where she was happy, safe, clean and comfortable. We were always welcomed, nothing was too much trouble for the staff who would sing and engage with Mum all day long. Lots of parties and fun activities too. I would 100% recommend Westhaven- we were always kept informed of Mum's health situation, her meds and changes to her care plan. Mum was treated with dignity, understanding and love.

My dad was at Westhaven for such a short time. The care and attention were faultless, however, he was given so much support his condition improved before passing. All staff and nurses spoke to him with respect and care looking after my mum who also visited daily. Would highly recommend this beautiful home for loved ones. Every aspect was to a high standard. They deserve more than our thanks as a family indebted to them for making my dad happy comfortable and relaxed in his last weeks. Thank you all.

Absolutely fantastic team.

However, gaining entry at the weekend/on bank holidays, is very difficult. In the winder it is possible to be outside ringing the bell in wind, rain snow and hail for 10 minutes or more, whilst staff are busy caring for residents.

Highest possible praise for the wonderful people at Westhaven, who have taken the best care of our grandad in his final weeks. Such comfortable and pleasant surroundings. Treated with so much kindness and respect. We couldn't be more grateful.

My grandad was recently admitted for end-of-life care, the home fought for him during his time there to ensure he was receiving the best quality of life and care. On the evening of his passing the staff couldn't have done enough to help us as a family. Throughout the whole admission they didn't just look after Grandad they looked after us too! Everything we wanted in a care home for Grandad Westhaven provided and more! All the staff there are angels and words can't express how grateful I am for their care and compassion during what was a very difficult time for us. Thank you, Westhaven for giving us the quality time with Grandad that we so desperately wanted before we said goodnight for a final time.

The manager leads a very good team.

All staff were 100% caring and supportive throughout the care of our mother.

Mum died peacefully at the beginning of June after a long decline with vascular dementia. She was cared for with kindness and compassion by all the staff who had contact with her. The management team were always on hand and aware of mums condition. Their open-door policy and understanding went a long way to helping calm our anxiety and distress at witnessing Mum's deterioration. We have no hesitation in recommending Westhaven as a home.

An excellent place for respite care.

Westhaven Nursing Home is the best care home I have ever been to. The staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much for them, the facilities are fantastic. It is like a five-star hotel.

I would recommend Westhaven and, on behalf of our family, extend thanks to all the staff for caring for our lovely mum.

Our experience of Westhaven has been excellent. The staff are superb, professional but also caring and approachable. This attitude stems from the management, matron and deputy and it percolates throughout the organisation. My dad has been really well cared for, and happy at Westhaven.

I would like to thank everyone for the excellent, compassionate care that was provided for my mum at Westhaven. She was treated with respect and sensitivity by the kind and caring staff. We as a family could not be more thankful for your help and support. We were always made welcome when we came to visit mum and were kept well informed of any changes in her health. My mother was a resident from May 2021 until her death in May 2022. Westhaven was the ideal home for her, always a clean, caring and well-maintained environment. The care teams were always lovely and obviously cared for the residents deeply. The cleaning, catering and management teams also could not be praised enough.

The nursing team acted promptly and with compassion to ensure that my father was comfortable. The communication with our family was kind and thoughtful. We are truly grateful to the whole team.
