Very warm and friendly welcome from the staff. They provide kind, and attentive care to residents, appropriate to individual needs. Activities are well organised and give residents an opportunity to enjoy physical and or mental stimulation.

My husband was only in Heliosa a short length of time and my family and myself were very pleased with the wonderful care he received. The manager and all the staff looked after my husband like he was part of a big family, through such difficult times.

During my brother's stay over the last twelve month and more, the care he has received from all the staff and everyone involved has been wonderful.
The manager and her staff have bent over backwards to meet these needs, and requests from his wife, my sister and I, have if possible been granted.
On
the first impression of the home, it appears old fashioned and dated. But having spent my hours in the home, it is very welcoming, with staff and residents and also relative's having fun and laughter, in what can be a very difficult situation.
The manager and all her staff should be applauded for everything they do, and throughout these difficult times, proud of the work they do, with humility, dignity and a smile.

Our mum moved to Heliosa (Congleton) last summer with advanced dementia. From our prior research, visits and discussions with the manager, we singled out Heliosa as the place we wanted our mum to move to when she could no longer be looked after at home. We have never regretted that choice. It was a
big move for Mum, but she was welcomed and cherished by the manager and the amazing Heliosa staff from her first day there. This care home has a very special ethos and standard of care. We were always encouraged to treat this as Mum's (and our) home. My sisters and I, and our children, have spent many happy hours in the lounge with Mum and the other residents and their families. We have made many friends there. Mum died a week ago. We were lucky enough to be with her when she passed away. The Heliosa staff gave her the best end of life care that they could - using their expertise and kindness to keep us updated all along - and they cried with us when she passed. We cannot thank them enough.

My mother was cared for at Heliosa for 7 months until she died last month. The manager and staff were very supportive to my mother and me and my two sisters, her grandchildren and friends. She was treated with the dignity and respect she deserved and we are are very happy with her care there. The home
is a real home for residents and relatives alike and there were good times full of fun and laughter. The activities there were well thought out and enjoyed especially the music and singing. A big thank you to all the staff.

My father was treated with care and dignity the short time he was a resident at Heliosa. The care he received from all members of staff was excellent. The end of life care from the nursing team kept him comfortable and allowed him to pass peacefully.

I have no hesitation in highly recommending Heliosa. In all our dealings with staff we have received only care, kindness, understanding, wise advice and support for the whole family. My husband is happy and settled and is treated with respect, kindness and humour, which he loves – together with the
food and his room.

As a family, we needed to choose a care home at an already difficult and emotional time. We were made to feel welcome at Heliosa from our first to our last visit and in between my nan was well cared for by capable and compassionate staff. The home's open door policy creates a relaxed atmosphere and
helped us to fit visiting around other commitments. I enjoyed chatting to other visitors in the lounge and soon felt very much at home. Nursing staff are available on site at all times to discuss any medical issues which was especially reassuring and helpful. It is impossible to thank all of the staff at Heliosa enough for the effort and hard work that they continually put in - we have left the home feeling very grateful that my nan was cared for there in the best way possible.

Since being here my Dad has been cared for and supported wonderfully by everybody. His room is lovely and the home is very well set out and provides residents and staff with a nice place to live and work in.

I have got to know many other residents and their families and so there's a real family feel

at Heliosa. My Dad is treated with respect and dignity even when his condition makes him "unreasonable". He loves the food and I can get a cup of tea for him from the kitchen staff at any time when I visit.

There are events and activities including visits from local school choirs, musicians and so much more. Residents are also encouraged to take part in suitable individual activities to maintain cognitive stimulation which is so important in managing their condition positively. I know my Dad is in the very best hands and I can visit him at any time which is fantastic.

Well done to everyone at Heliosa and thanks for everything you do.

Heliosa treated the family as a package, not only did they care for Dad sensitively and with dignity, but they were there for family members too. The handover from hospital ambulance crew to management was excellent and was interpreted to caring and nursing staff accurately to ensure an appropriate
personalised care package. We were able to personalise his room for the short duration of his stay which made it a pleasurable and peaceful place for Dad and ourselves to watch the birds and squirrels together. Their doctor liaised with Dad’s local GP and took time to explain our questions in layman’s language which made our individual situation more easy to digest. I can only thank all the staff for their compassion and care.

I felt that Heliosa Nursing home looked after my dad really well, especially in the hours leading up to his death. As a family we were all allowed to stay with him, including an overnight stay. We were invited to help ourselves to tea and coffee and even offered toast for breakfast. The staff were very
caring, especially one particular member of staff, and they looked after him until the end. The staff, we felt, were absolutely amazing.

Deciding a relative needs to move into a care home, is an emotional and difficult decision. Heliosa from the beginning were warm, friendly and professional from the initial visit and throughout my Nan's stay. I can't praise the manager and her staff highly enough for their kindness, dedication, support
professionalism and genuine compassion for my Nan and ourselves as a family even during the dark days. The manager and her team ensured all my Nan's needs were met and carried them out with the most sincere dignity we could have asked for.
If you want a modern state of the art, clinical care home I suggest you go elsewhere, however, if you want a warm caring environment with people who genuinely care about your loved one, and you as a family need the reassurance that this will happen, then Heliosa is for you. I will never forget how they helped us through one of the most difficult journeys of our lives, and for that, we will be forever grateful to the manager and her dedicated team.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.761) out of 10 for Heliosa is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.636 for Heliosa is calculated as follows: ( (7 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 4.636
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heliosa is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.125
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
