Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home looked after my auntie, the care and compassion they showed her from the day she arrived until God called her home. They are angels in disguise, there will be a reward in heaven, our family will never be able to thank you for the love you showed our auntie and all her family.

Reply from Lyndsay Scott, General Manager at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home

I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home and the care they showed my mum (and also support for me) in the 8 weeks she spent with them. Despite her speech problems, the staff built good relationships with her. She really enjoyed all the food which was tasty and varied and served beautifully on white tabelcloths in the dining room where a huge effort was made to make this social time. There were activities everyday, several lounges plus the garden so residents had a choice of places to sit. The nurses, in liason with GPs, and palliative team made sure that Mum had excellent medical care. At the start of her stay, we had 1 small concern and this was dealt with immediately. I will forever be grateful for the quality of life at the end of her life that Laurel Bank provided.

Mum has been here since August 2023 and was in poor health and anxious. Since the move here, she has slowly got better and has lost her anxiety. She enjoys every aspect of her care provided at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home. They organised a wonderful 90th birthday celebration which she thoroughly enjoyed with her family and friends with her fellow residents.

Mum came to Laurel Bank in July 2023, and since she came, has been welcomed by all staff and fully included.
Mum coming into a home was a huge wrench for us all, but she has fully embraced life here.

In October, Mum celebrated her 90th birthday, and the staff/management went above and beyond to ensure she had a lovely day and we could celebrate it with her as a family. Thank you all.

My mother was discharged from the hospital into the care of Laurek Bank earlier this year and we all could not be more appreciative and grateful for the care and attention she has received.
Every single member of staff is welcoming, helpful and professional.

As I live overseas and am unable to visit regularly, it is important for me to walk away completely reassured that Mum is in the best hands and is safe and secure. Thank you.

I went to the Coronation party at Laurel Bank, the staff, as usual, had done a wonderful job and the home looked amazing. The Coronation quiche tasted really good and the whole party went with a swing thanks to the likeable band. Thanks to everyone involved, they went over and above!

I came to the Coronation party with my 3 children. Everyone had made a real effort with decorations, amazing food and a party atmosphere. The coronation quiche was even there and I was surprised to find it was beautiful, as on paper it didn't sound like my cup of tea but maybe it was the skills of the chef that made it good! The care shown to the residents making sure they all had fun and were fed and watered was exceptional.

Such a lovely day, the welcoming party was put together for the residents and family for the King's Coronation and amazing food and drink were provided and the tombola which the children loved! The staff all really went above and beyond from their outfits to their friendliness, nothing was too much for them and they really made the celebration. Myself, my family and my great auntie thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and are very thankful to all involved in organising.

Lyndsay Scott
Lyndsay ScottJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2019

Hi, my name is Lyndsay, and I am the General Manager here at Laurel Bank.

I am an RGN and have worked in the care sector for over 20 years. I moved over to Lancaster in 2019 from the North East to work for Barchester.

I began my career as a care assistant in 1998 and found that I enjoyed the environment so much that I trained to be a nurse, then transferred to management.

As a manager of a care home, every day is different and, at Barchester, we endeavor to enhance the lives of all residents on a daily basis. We incorporate their life history's and interests when planning activities in the home so that they can live life to the fullest.

Hello, my name is Jamie, I am the deputy manager, here at Laurel Bank.

I have worked in the home for a number of years and joined initially as one of the home's activities coordinators and then went on to becoming a care practitioner, then I got promoted in 2021 to deputy manager!

I absolutely love my role and especially getting to know our residents and supporting the team in the delivery of high standards of care. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

Hi, my name is Sally, and I am one of the Clinical Leads at Laurel Bank.

I was previously a registered manager for 6 years with another company & decided to follow my heart and return to a nursing role as this also provides a great work life balance.

My passion is around end of life care and working with the professional and caring team collaboratively at Laurel Bank. I feel I now have my "dream job" in a wonderful care home.

Jaimy Lee Almond
Jaimy Lee AlmondJob Title:Activities CoordinatorJoined: 2018

Hi, my name is Jaimy Lee, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Laurel Bank.

I have worked in the care home industry for over nine years. I started working at Laurel Bank in 2018 as a carer, and then, I was promoted to senior carer which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.

I love my role as every day is different and I try to make sure the residents are happy and engage in meaningful activities, this also helps support the transition for new residents.

Hi, my name is Grant, and I am the Head Chef, here at Laurel Bank.

I joined the team here at Laurel Bank in 2020 as a second chef but got promoted to Head Chef!

I love cooking for the residents and tailoring my plans for each individual resident. I especially enjoy putting on spreads for the many parties and gatherings we have. Every day is different at Laurel Bank, and I really love the challenge!

Tim Collins
Tim CollinsJob Title:Head of MaintenanceJoined: 2024

I started working for Barchester in March 2024.

I had my own business for 20 years as a builder and fancied a change. When I came for my interview for Laurel Bank I knew straight away that this is where I wanted to be. The staff were so friendly and you could see that it was all about the residents I wanted to be part of a team like that. I do all sorts in my role like painting, fixing things and even charity events like car washing day. I look forward to my future here at Laurel Bank.
