Laurel Bank is a purpose-built care home offering specialist 24-hour nursing and residential care, providing the best possible alternative for those who are no longer able to manage at home.

The team is passionate about providing high-quality care and are ideally suited to meet a wide range of care needs, from simply helping with day-to-day living through to complex care requirements.

The dedication can be seen in all work the team do, from cooking and hospitality to the wide range of activities organised for residents and visitors.

Laurel Bank have a minibus and regularly take residents to garden centres, coffee houses, museums and the local countryside.

Local entertainment and church groups also visit regularly. Residents at Laurel Bank are encouraged to continue with hobbies they enjoy, such as photography, woodwork, art, cooking and gardening, to name a few.

Wi-Fi is available as well, so residents can access the internet or check emails anytime they wish!

The home is ideally located just 10 minutes from the centre of historic Lancaster and boasts over of the city’s castle, the rolling hills of the Pennines and tranquil Morecambe Bay.

Mum has been here since August 2023 and was in poor health and anxious. Since the move here, she has slowly got better and has lost her anxiety. She enjoys every aspect of her care provided at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home. They organised a wonderful 90th birthday celebration which she thoroughly
enjoyed with her family and friends with her fellow residents.

Mum came to Laurel Bank in July 2023, and since she came, has been welcomed by all staff and fully included.
Mum coming into a home was a huge wrench for us all, but she has fully embraced life here.
In October, Mum celebrated her 90th birthday, and the staff/management went above and beyond to
ensure she had a lovely day and we could celebrate it with her as a family. Thank you all.

Since my uncle moved into Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home, he has been shown nothing but excellent service and care. All the staff go above and beyond for him. Also they, family, friends and visitors. They make us feel extremely welcome and relaxed that he's in great hands. the food is excellent and

Staff cannot do enough for family and residents. Such patient, bubbly, upbeat and hardworking staff.

Attended the wedding event, I was astonished at the whole amount of effort, the residents were in their best clothing, all the ladies wearing fascinators, and the staff were all on hand for all needs, I have never seen such a happier event. Very well done to all at Laurel Bank.

Staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. Residents are treated with dignity and respect and the activity coordinators involve residents in all kinds of enjoyable activities. The staff are friendly and Laurel Bank feels like a very welcoming place to visit and be cared for.

My mother was discharged from the hospital into the care of Laurek Bank earlier this year and we all could not be more appreciative and grateful for the care and attention she has received.
Every single member of staff is welcoming, helpful and professional.
As I live overseas and am unable to visit
regularly, it is important for me to walk away completely reassured that Mum is in the best hands and is safe and secure. Thank you.

I went to the Coronation party at Laurel Bank, the staff, as usual, had done a wonderful job and the home looked amazing. The Coronation quiche tasted really good and the whole party went with a swing thanks to the likeable band. Thanks to everyone involved, they went over and above!

I came to the Coronation party with my 3 children. Everyone had made a real effort with decorations, amazing food and a party atmosphere. The coronation quiche was even there and I was surprised to find it was beautiful, as on paper it didn't sound like my cup of tea but maybe it was the skills of the
chef that made it good! The care shown to the residents making sure they all had fun and were fed and watered was exceptional.

Such a lovely day, the welcoming party was put together for the residents and family for the King's Coronation and amazing food and drink were provided and the tombola which the children loved! The staff all really went above and beyond from their outfits to their friendliness, nothing was too much
for them and they really made the celebration. Myself, my family and my great auntie thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and are very thankful to all involved in organising.

All the staff are extremely caring, helpful and dedicated. Although the Christmas celebrations were cut back due to covid everyone was really lovely and attentive. I also attended Valentine's Day celebrations. This was so enjoyable and the room was decorated fantastically well. I was really impressed
with everything - every detail had been thought through. All the residents were treated with respect, which showed that they were all cared for as individuals. Every time I go to visit everyone is very welcoming and happy. A lovely place.

My mum came in for end-of-life care in January. The staff have all been amazing, so caring, kind and compassionate. They have been very gentle with Mum and made her as comfortable as possible at the end of her life. They took very good care of us, especially when we needed to be with Mum around the
clock. They have always been very honest with us regarding Mum's condition. We are so glad we chose Laurel Bank.

Following a period of time, my uncle needed respite care. Laurel Bank Care Home was able to accept him immediately upon discharge from the hospital. All staff are pleasant, helpful and understanding of my uncle's needs.

I am an RGN and have worked in the care sector for over 20 years. I moved over to Lancaster in 2019 from the North East to work for Barchester.


I began my career as a care assistant in 1998 and found that I enjoyed the environment so much that I trained to be a nurse, then transferred to management.


As a manager of a care home, every day is different and, at Barchester, we endeavor to enhance the lives of all residents on a daily basis. We incorporate their life history's and interests when planning activities in the home so that they can live life to the fullest.

I have worked in the care home industry for over nine years. I started working at Laurel Bank in 2018 as a carer, and then, I was promoted to senior carer which I thoroughly enjoyed.


I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.


I love my role as every day is different and I try to make sure the residents are happy and engage in meaningful activities, this also helps support the transition for new residents.

Hi, my name is Grant, and I am the Head Chef, here at Laurel Bank.


I joined the team here at Laurel Bank in 2020 as a second chef but got promoted to Head Chef!


I love cooking for the residents and tailoring my plans for each individual resident. I especially enjoy putting on spreads for the many parties and gatherings we have. Every day is different at Laurel Bank, and I really love the challenge!

I started working for Barchester in March 2024.


I had my own business for 20 years as a builder and fancied a change. When I came for my interview for Laurel Bank I knew straight away that this is where I wanted to be. The staff were so friendly and you could see that it was all about the residents I wanted to be part of a team like that. I do all sorts in my role like painting, fixing things and even charity events like car washing day. I look forward to my future here at Laurel Bank.

Since 2009, I've been a devoted registered nurse, driven by an unwavering commitment to delivering quality care. In 2010, I took a transformative step by moving to the United Kingdom to pursue a Professional Development Degree at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland.


Having contributed significantly as a Clinical Lead Nurse in the NHS Care of the Elderly Ward, my journey led me to Barchester. Currently finding deep fulfilment at Laurel Bank Nursing Home, my passion for nursing thrives in this warm and supportive environment. My dedication is centred on making a positive impact on the lives of residents, reflecting a commitment to compassionate and excellent healthcare.
