The whole family have been really pleased with the care Mum has received. The staff have been understanding, receptive and supportive with occasional lapses in communication - but this may not have been due to urgent issues in the home. Covid has been an issue, and more window visiting would have been
appreciated. Overall, we would do it again if the need arises. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident at Springfield for over two years now. The home is always very clean and Mum is well looked after and cared for. The staff are amazing -helpful, friendly and put themselves out to meet any requests we make. During lockdown, we have been able to have portal calls with Mum which
is a help. Also, I ring and speak to the staff on a weekly basis for an update on how Mum is doing and the staff always make time to talk about her. Hoping we'll be able to see our loved ones in person soon, but in the meantime, the staff are doing their very best to keep everyone safe and happy. Thank you to all at Springfield.

All of the staff are caring, polite and well informed. They have done everything to ensure that residents are not adversely affected by the lockdown. In these difficult times, everyone has helped to keep my mother very well cared for and happy.

The communication in this very difficult time has been outstanding. All the staff are very professional, friendly and polite. When talking to my mum via social media, I can see mum is being kept clean and tidy, she is eating plenty of her favourite foods and she is happy. So thanks Springfield.

I have found that the care received to be on personal preferences and done to a very high level. My uncle is well looked after and all the staff and management put themselves out to make his time there enjoyable and safe. He enjoys his food and there are always snacks available to get him through the
day. He gets involved in activities that are laid on and enjoys the TV in his room as well as watching the one in the lounge area. All the staff know him and chat to him, showing interest in who he is and what he has done. A good social environment.

My wonderful grandfather spent approximately seven to eight months at Springfield. My family decided on Springfield as it appeared to tick all the boxes prior to him becoming a full-time resident. Unfortunately, he had early stages of dementia and asked for nothing. His room was nice and he could have
what he wanted on the walls like family photographs, etc. which meant a lot to him. He enjoyed the food and drinks available. The staff showed a mixture of care, some far more willing to assist than others. My Grandmother was upset on numerous visits, due to finding him wearing other resident's clothing or not having enough on and feeling cold which is simply unacceptable. I did not see activities taking place with the residents, but that is not to say it did not happen. My Grandfather was taken seriously ill from Springfield and into hospital. Heartbreakingly, he passed away within the day from COVID-19. I never got to say my goodbyes to him and miss him so much - Rest In Peace Gramps.

During the 'lockdown' period, there has been excellent communication/updates fro staff. This has been via telephone/Facetime/Facebook portal etc. It has been very difficult not being able to see Mum 'in person', but the above alternatives have been greatly appreciated. Residents always look happy and
entertained by staff, so a big 'well done and thank you' to all.

My Grandad was a resident at Springfield. He had a nice room and the care home is clean with colourful pictures on the corridors. Food and drink plentiful and able to make drinks for your relatives too. Some of the staff are less caring at times, ignoring the resident's needs when asking numerous times
to go to the toilet, which is upsetting and frustrating for them and to their relatives. I did not witness activities and interaction with the residents like it would have been nice to see, I realise not all residents are able due to their health conditions or maybe even want to. Very sad and upset that my loving Grandad became a victim of Covid-19 and passed away in less than a day of him being admitted into hospital from the care home.

Unfortunately, I would be extremely unlikely to recommend Springfield to others. The residents; including my grandfather were not approached with the respect nor dignity that they should have been. My main frustration has been the ongoing inadequacy of information from the management team, from my grandfather's
ill health and falls, to being told he was fine when he most certainly was not.

My parents were enabled to feel at home from day one. The section the were in, is small and homely, with residents eating together in the spacious living room. There was a family feel to the unit, and everyone has treated as the unique person they are. Carers are outstanding - they go above and beyond
and are thoughtful in how they relate to the residents. Rooms are comfortable, and residents can take their own possession to have in their rooms. Staff keep families fully informed.

First impressions on entering Springfield are concerning when a resident is sat in their wheelchair in the doorway entrance smoking. This was witnessed on several visits. The reception area is clean but some of the reception staff have poor customer service skills, i.e. ignore or are reluctant to engage
with you. The rooms are quite nice with reasonable space. The day room is not the most inspiring, with some residents not able to view the TV due to the layout of the furniture. Activities with the residents are poor in general, with the minimum effort put in by the care staff. Armchair aerobics with the residents, whilst the jukebox is blasting out, is hardly stimulating. Food is adequate and offers a variety of choice. Residents are at times left far too long in the day room asking to be taken to the toilet. Residents are often seen not wearing their own clothes, which can be upsetting for relatives and visitors. Overall a disappointing experience.

At a very difficult and challenging time already with the pandemic, it saddens me greatly that my grandad passed away from Covid-19. When visiting him in the home before lockdown, I would often find him feeling cold, then having to dress him further with a jumper/socks/slippers/blanket, which should
have been done at all times to keep him comfortable. I also felt that there could have been more positive and engaging interaction between the staff and residents, I felt he deserved more genuine interest, care, and attention. On the lead up to, and after his passing, I don't feel that my family has been given honest information from Springfield, which is naturally upsetting for us all. I sadly would not be able to recommend Springfield.

All the Springfield staff are wonderful, I have nothing but praise for them. My mum's very happy there, I know I made the right choice by placing her there, so I know I have peace of mind that she is being looked after extremely well. A big 'thank you' to all the staff, who have gone above and beyond,
especially through this horrendous pandemic.

After my parents moved into the home, in adjoining rooms, they had great care up to/including my mum's death on Xmas Day 2018. Since, the staff have looked after my dad very well and empathetically as he has aged. Now 102, he is fed, cleaned and cared for better than we could have done, so I am eternally
grateful. As we live 175 miles away we need this help.

My Auntie has been at Springfield since October 2016 and the care she has received has been excellent. The staff were always friendly and helpful. My Auntie could be difficult at times, but they had patience and dealt with her needs appropriately. Unfortunately, we have had to move her to a nursing
home as she has deteriorated and Springfield were no longer able to meet her needs. I would have no hesitation in recommending Springfield Care Home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.839)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.839) out of 10 for Springfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.839 for Springfield is calculated as follows: ( (380 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 446 Ratings = 4.839
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springfield is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 registered maximum number of service users is 19.8, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
