My mum went in for respite but ended up staying 6 months due to her deterioration. I found the staff to be lovely and helpful although thought there wasn't enough of them as often when I looked for someone I could not find anyone. I did note that on one occasion my mum had been left in the bathroom
for at least 20 minutes, if not longer but that's how long it was from me finding her like that to staff coming back, although I had already helped her back into her chair. Due to deterioration management wanted to move her to another place which we were not keen on so wasn't sure what to do. After an independent social worker visited, she advised us that Mum would be better off in a smaller home so we took her advice and found somewhere we thought more suitable.
Laundry regularly went missing and 2 pairs of spectacles, whilst in the care at Westfield and these have never been found so have now had to purchase new ones at our cost as a claims form was requested but never forthcoming.

Quite recently my husband started daycare twice a week and he has settled in really well. It gives me time for myself to recharge my batteries and I know he is being looked after very well. All the staff have been friendly and caring, making us feel welcome when we arrive. I trust them to make his stay
a happy one. The management are very approachable and are more than willing to help making us feel we are not just a number.

My mam has been on the Haven Unit since November and she calls it her sanctuary. The staff encourage my mam to maintain her independence which enables her to express her personality. They always treat my mam with respect and in a way that maintains her dignity. The home and grounds are immaculate and
we are always made welcome when we visit. I work in the care profession myself and have been impressed by the high standard of care I have witnessed at the home.

We have found the staff on the dementia unit to be exceptionally helpful and friendly during this upsetting period in my dad's life. The staff have been at all times open and ready to answer our queries. The home itself is modern and well appointed. We feel content and reassured that our dad is safe
and in good and experienced hands.

As I am such a regular visitor, I have been able to observe staff interacting with many other residents. Staff appear calm, cheerful, caring and patient with everyone. Since being at Westfield, my mum has been settled and happy. She has a good relationship with all of her carers and they seem to genuinely
love her. I have witnessed lovely, natural signs of affection from staff towards my mum. This all goes towards helping my mum feel safe and secure in the homely and caring environment of Westfield. I would have no hesitation in recommending Westfield to others whose relatives need residential care.

My husband was well looked after during his respite stay at Westfield Park Nursing Home. Conscientious and caring staff were concerned for his welfare and his needs and appreciated his difficulties. Westfield Park Nursing Home provides a very pleasant environment with a very friendly and happy atmosphere.
Pleasant and courteous staff are always on hand to listen to problems and do their best to help. I have had no worries about his respite care in Westfield Park Nursing Home.

Westfield Park is all about caring with respect for the people they are trusted to look after. I can't speak highly enough about the staff. They took great care of my Mum. She felt safe and loved the place, in a lovely setting. Spotlessly clean and the food (I am told) is great. The staff are exceptional.
Some attended her funeral. others stood outside the home in the pouring rain as we passed by, to say goodbye to her. I will never forget that. I cant thank the staff enough for the way they really cared and looked after my Mum. Her last year was good for her. She was calm and happy.

From the moment my mother came to Westfield Park her health and outlook improved greatly. I will cherish the photo I have downloaded from the email regarding the Christmas Party where she is dancing and playing to the camera - she looked so much like her old self. Since then I know her dementia has
progressed, but I also know she is in safe hands. Your home is a credit to all the staff and a visit is a happier time for us than in her previous care home.

Mum has been in The Haven Unit for 11 months now and we feel she is happy. We are very impressed with the staff all of whom seem to know mum but name and her likes and dislikes. We like the way staff interact with residents and occupy them in simple but effective ways. The building is clean and well
furnished with lots of lounge areas. We feel we can raise queries with management and that they deal with them in a quick and effective manner. Westfield Park has proved to have been a good choice.

We put my mother in Westfield Park after she had been in 2 care homes previously and was not treated at all well, in fact neglected. But here at Westfield Park we are delighted with the care and attention. A big relief for the family to know she is in a loving and caring atmosphere. Well done Westfield

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.768)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.768) out of 10 for Westfield Park is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.768 for Westfield Park is calculated as follows: ( (358 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 440 Ratings = 4.768
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westfield Park is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 111 registered maximum number of service users is 22.2, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I decided to join Care UK because I wanted to make a positive difference in residents’ lives, ensuring they live life to the full while receiving the highest quality care. For me, being a good home manager is not just about supporting residents but also about making sure all colleagues feel valued and appreciated in their roles.

I hold a Diploma Level 5 in Management and have built my career around dementia care, where I’ve previously worked as a Dementia Care Manager. These experiences have given me the skills and knowledge I need to lead with passion, patience, commitment and empathy.

The best part of my day is seeing and speaking to happy staff and residents, and knowing that together we’ve created the warm, welcoming atmosphere that Westfield Park is known for.

One of my proudest achievements in my career has been becoming a registered manager, and I’m equally proud of the positive feedback we consistently receive from families and visitors to the home.

Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with family and friends and heading off on holidays whenever I can.
