Highfield in Yarm is an extremely friendly residential home where every staff member regardless of their specific duties provides outstanding care and support.

Our mum is treated with dignity and respect and even though she is not keen to engage with other residents or be involved in social and group activities, her wishes are always considered.

There is always a lovely welcome by staff on arriving to visit. The first impression on arriving is pleasant, organised (signing in the book and locked door).

More importantly, the person I visit is happy and tells me how lovely the staff are and how they look after her well. When I visit, the staff are genuine, respectful, and professional.

I visit my friend in the Highfield Care Home most days, and I find it a very good experience. She can no longer has a conversation with me, but she is always smiling and happy. The staff are wonderful with her, and she always looks clean and fresh, even tho she doesn't always cooperate with staff due to her dementia, they are always kind and respectful. She loves the food, and all staff are so kind, from housekeepers to management.

My mam is well treated by all staff. They understand and apply care with dignity and respect at all times. Recently, my mam was poorly, and the staff provided additional support, including assisted feeding, which helped to build her back up.
My mam enjoys the company of other people and being involved. There is always activities and good fun in the communal areas.

Special mention for the food, which is excellent. It is nutritious, diverse and well prepared and presented.

Highfield is the fourth care home Mum has stayed in the last five years. It is the home I was most comfortable with, as I really believed she was loved and cared for properly. Thank you from myself and my brother for how well she was looked after in the last eighteen months of her life. It gave us great comfort.

Overall Experience
I found the care in the home to be satisfactory, the staff mostly very obliging and courteous. The catering was good quality mainly home type cooking. My main complaint was with the NHS not the care home itself, I was told by the hospital I would get daily physiotherapy this did not happen which in turn prolonged my stay.

One must be bear in mind that this home was mainly for dementia patients and from what I observed the care assistants did an excellent job in very difficult and tedious circumstances, a credit to your company .

Think all the staff members are really nice and good at their jobs, some go the extra mile, and I know my mam is in good hands. Mam really likes her food, and the food is excellent, lots of tea and biscuits throughout the day. The staff are very respectful to mam and treat her very well with warm, friendly hello's and cuddles.

Both of my parents have been cared for by the team at Highfield House, My mother has been a resident for 7 years and my father was there for a few months before settling into a nursing home. Each person who cares for my mother has a compassion and consideration for her needs that make it easy for us as a family to rest knowing she is in a loving and safe place. The management team are always helpful and have guided us on a number of occasions to insure the best care possible. Would highly recommend Highfield House.

Overall, ok, although I can see it is short staffed! And the amount of money charged, I am wondering why?

More staff = better care!
