My dad has been a resident at Defoe Court for seven months and I cannot sing their praises enough.
He is surrounded by people who genuinely care for him and he is always treated with respect and dignity.
Both my dad's physical and mental health have improved since being at Defoe and the staff really
put their all into the residents.
Communication is great and staff always contact us with any issues and updates as well as for regular chats to keep us in touch with our dad despite the restrictions.
My dad going into care was a difficult time for us all and quite unexpected, but the staff and management at Defoe made it so easy for us and now it feels as though he is safely cared for by his second family. There are not enough thank you's to give!

Defoe Court have been exemplary in caring for my mam, who has a rare genetic disorder Huntington's disease, during such a difficult period. The staff are so professional, and always ensure the best of care and checking to see the correct PPE Is being used and at the same time showing so much empathy,
love, laughter and above all team spirit. My Mam has had so many setbacks, and every single time they ensure they go above and beyond, liaising with the HD team, Consultants, they have built relationships in such bizarre times, and my mam's care has not changed just gets better. I can call them at any time, and talk to a member of staff if I'm worried or the Manager calls me at home at 8/9 pm to ensure I'm ok and that I'm happy with everything. I really do love them all.

My mother-in-law has been in Defoe Court for several years ago throughout that time the care has been second to none. Her needs can be complex as she suffers from a chronic illness with a very sober prognosis and yet every aspect of her care - whether this has been specific medical treatment adjustments
in conjunction with Consultants or emotional support for the family demonstrating a detailed understanding of her needs - has been addressed with both professionalism, competence and compassion. We would strongly recommend and endorse Defoe Court.

After a recent visit to see my old friend, I would like to share my experience... The staff were organised and I felt very safe. The home was clean the staff friendly and welcoming. The manager came to greet me she was extremely friendly and answered all my questions I had. I have visited alot of homes
can I just say that Defoe Court was the most welcoming and homely and the atmosphere was great. Fabulous home, with a great team from management to the housekeepers.

I can not thank Defoe Court enough for the kind care and dignity they provide to my mam is outstanding. My mam is so well cared for and so so loved. They have enabled safe visiting. The manager and the entire team are so supportive and keep me informed. My mam is so happy. Which means I'm so happy.

My grandmother has been in Defoe for approximately 3 years and myself and my family couldn't explain in words what this amazing home and staff have done for my grandmother and the family. They are polite, caring and always respectful. This might not look like a brand new hotel but we didn't want my
grandmother to go to a hotel, we wanted her to feel like she was still with family and that's exactly how she feels and how we feel when we visit. If you want care, love and amazing care for your loved one I can assure you that there is no place better, we know when we go home she is safe and cared for. Thank you Defoe Court.

My mother has been a resident at Defoe Court for some time now and I am extremely happy with the care that she receives. It has been a very tough year due to the pandemic and not been able to go into the home to see my Mam. The staff have really made a fantastic effort in keeping me informed and able
to still communicate with my Mam through Facetime calls that the staff have set up. My Mam really missed going to the hairdresser and the staff noticed she was feeling down about this so one of the care staff who used to be a hairdresser would do her hair to make her feel and look good. My Mam said how this made her feel fabulous, I think that is what you call outstanding care. I am now allowed back into the home and been able to see the Manager and the staff to be able to thank them for all the hard work and thank them for keeping my Mam safe and healthy.

My Grandmother has been in Defoe court for 3 years now. As a family, we really struggled to put her into a care home however we were made comfortable by the staff and the caring feeling that she was in good hands. Before lockdown, I was over the moon with the amount of activities that were on offer
both in the home and external outings to different areas for day trips. All the staff from carers, domestic to management have been nothing short of amazing always making all our family feel welcome. Great home feeling with amazing staff.

I recently got to visit my best friend after almost a year and just wanted to say how lovely it was, I was greeted like an old friend by the staff, who were extremely professional. I felt safe being tested and with the way the visit was handled. I would like to thank these girls and guys for doing everything

The staff have been truly amazing in their care of Mum and in ensuring that I could keep in contact. I live in Guernsey and have not seen mum now for 18 months due to covid. We have FaceTimed and the staff have been so friendly and made sure mum knows it is me and that she understands what I am saying.
They have made an enormous effort to keep her current with the situation and make life as happy as possible. She looks so well and loves the entertainment provided. I have always been delighted with the care when I visit.

All the staff at Defoe Court are amazing. As difficult as it is for me to accept, they are all now my Dad's new family and he loves them all. They've been with him right through covid, and when I'm unable to be with him. They always have time for me when I'm worried, or just want to ask how my Dad's
doing. These are difficult times for everyone yet they still go above and beyond for their residents and the families of residents. I am so grateful to each and every one of them for keeping my Dad safe and happy.

My stepdad came into Defoe Care Home after becoming increasingly ill and my mother unable to continue looking after him. From the very first minute, he moved in he was made to feel welcome and at ease. The fantastic care and attention he received was far superior to the rest bite accommodation he had
previously encountered. The professionalism combined with a relaxed manner of the staff in Defoe I found an excellent combination. His care included nursing requirements and the attention he received I want to describe as simply brilliant. His room was newly decorated for his admission and new furniture was purchased to accompany this and also an extension to his bed. We were encouraged to bring items from his home to help his room feel like his own. Although his stay was sadly quite brief I know his time spend there was thoroughly cared for and made comfortable and happy. Thank you to everyone involved in looking after him at Defoe Court Care Home.

I can't praise the manager and staff of Defoe Court enough since my relative moved into this home last year. Due to a medical condition, and despite the hospital staff's best efforts, he was at a standstill health wise and as he would have been unable to go home at this time the best alternative was
a care home. Defoe Court came highly recommended and it was the best decision the family made as our relative has physically come on leaps and bounds since moving in. The staff constantly provide him with excellent care, support and encouragement and have worked so hard these last few months, in such extenuating circumstances, to make sure he, and all of the residents are kept as safe and as well as possible. The staff take great care to ensure the family is kept up to date regularly and ensure we have frequent phone and video calls when window/pod visits aren't allowed and we receive videos and pictures so we can see how he is progressing and what activities he is enjoying. Truly has given us peace of mind, thank you.

My dad has been in Defoe since September 2020, after suffering from a stroke, and I couldn't ask for a better place for him to be in!
The staff all go above and beyond, and they care for the residents as though they are their own family.
They have all taken the time to get to know my dad so they
can interact with him in the best way possible. They are always super quick to contact me if anything has happened (he falls over a lot!) and I'm so grateful for the effort they go to when it comes to organising video calls and visits.
I can see how happy certain members of staff make my dad, with the time and effort they put into him and it's massively appreciated! I'm not sure when he'll be able to leave, but it's great to know how well looked after he is in the meantime.

Since my wife arrived at the care home direct from hospital, there has been a substantial improvement in her physically and mentally.
I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the care they have given her and the management for keeping me informed and answering any questions I ask. To sum up; a first-class

My mum has Huntington's disease and the manager and her team are phenomenal in how they provide for her, they have gone above and beyond and exceeding all our eyes. They are the best care home team I have ever seen and I've seen a lot, to truly care. They are kind, professional to the core and consider
everyone's needs including mine, they have become my family, and I'm missing them so much. Thank you for all the Facetime calls and updates. You really are the best.
