Jack Dormand Care Home, situated just off the coast in the town of Peterlee, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential, nursing and nursing dementia care.

The home offers a comfortable environment for all residents with many living areas overlooking the coast. The onsite hair salon, wellbeing programme and lovely garden are a favourite amongst the residents.

My husband has been in since June and I cannot praise all the staff that deals and looks after him. They go over and beyond caring for him. It takes a load off my mind knowing he is happy, clean and well looked after.

My mother has been in several care homes, of which this is definitely the best. I would recommend it without reservation. The staff are caring, friendly and very professional. I have a high degree of confidence in them. The home feels like a genuine home for resident. Their bedrooms could be a little
bigger, but one, of course, understands the pressure of space, this is a minor point only. Overall, very happy.

With my mother being in the care home for the last four months, we are very happy with the way she is being cared for. Due to the hardworking staff, my mother is very happy being there. She gets out on plenty of trips with the staff, she enjoys the food which has a good menu. Overall, the best care

Marie Shillaw

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2014

“For me, kindness means treating everyone you come into contact with equally and with respect and dignity.”


Marie has gained over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Marie joined Jack Dormand as Home Manager as she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby organisations and is always quick to welcome the local community to Jack Dormand.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Marie remarked: “I just love having the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of our Residents.”


Outside of work, Marie enjoys swimming and spending time with her family.
