I have no complaints about how my mum is looked after in Lothian House. All the staff are wonderful with her. She sometimes just wants to stay in her room which is fine but I do know that the staff still continue to pop in and check on her which is reassuring

My mother-in-law has been in Lothian House for 2years and we are very happy with the the standard of care. The staff and carers are extremely caring and committed to my Mother in Laws welfare.
They keep us well informed if there are any issues pertaining to her health and this is really appreciated.
There has been lots of organised entertainment over the Xmas period. And there is an opportunity to have a weekly trip out.

The staff are extremely friendly and easy to talk to. They organise a yearly event to raise funds for extra activities with much enthusiasm.

This is an excellent home and I can't thank the staff enough for all of the care they provide for my gran. They are always friendly and welcoming and nothing is ever too much bother for them despite the long shifts they work. There is always something going on to keep residents entertained and the staff always make everything fun and enjoyable for all. Special shout out to Shelly, Angela, Nicola, Beth & Barbara their care, compasion and hard work does not go unnoticed. I would recommend for anyone looking for somewhere for a loved one.

The most important aspect of this is lack of staff and staff training. Most weekends on the EMI unit there was only 2 staff. The staff admitted they worked 12 hr shifts with no breaks.
The unit was lacking in not only staff but also there was nothing to stimulate the residents. The idea of stimulation was to put all residents into a lounge and put a Disney movie on or a musical.
The staff admitted they also had to do the cleaning as well as look after the residents.
The downstairs unit was totally different. This is residential where most of the service users had capacity. The staff level was also 5/6 each day. The difference between the two floors is mind boggling. You would think with the EMI unit they would have the most staff but it seems the saying "out of sight out of mind " is the slogan for Lothian House.

If any member of my family in the future needed an EMI unit they would definitely not go to Lothian House.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear that you feel there was not enough staff working on our residential dementia community. I am also sorry to hear you felt there was no stimulation apart from watching Disney movies. We have looked into your concerns, and I can...

My husband moved to this establishment following our very careful and thought provoking search - the staff are empathetic, caring, brilliant in meeting the needs of my husbands and other residents. Always a welcome and a smile on their faces giving you a feeling of contentment in their ability to care and carry out all duties in a highly successful manner. Nutritional food is excellent and served in a clea happy dining room. Always someone to listen to me when I am feeling sad about his illness. Staff are very professional e.g. carers, cleaners, kitchen and laundry workers etc. I highly recommend this care home and have done this several times thank goodness for this establishment.

I have been in Lothian House since June 2025 following admission to hospital on March 2025. I found staff and management to show me kindness, encouragement and a lot of support. Although going home today I will miss the staff and having company each day. I would definitely come back here if necessary and would always show my respect for everything they have done for me.

When looking for a care home, this was the first place we visited. I didn't feel the need to look any further. The care home is spotless, well decorated and comfortable and good sized rooms. The staff are very helpful, friendly and always have a smile on their faces treating my mum and residents with the greatest respect. I'm confident mum is well looked after and cared for in every respect.

From her admission as a resident of Lothian House my mother-in-law was treated with the utmost care, love and dignity until her passing.

She could not have received better treatment and care as family we could not have asked for more support. The staff were fantastic from day 1.

My mam came to Lothian House in November 2024 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. The level of care, compassion and kindness shown by all the staff is absolutely first class and they are all a credit to the home.

At present, my mam is now receiving end-of-life care and as a family, we wouldn't want mam anywhere else. I would recommend Lothian House to anyone. Thank you for making Mama as comfortable and as dignified as possible.
