From the moment I walked into Lothian House, I knew my mum would be happy and looked after there. The room was recently refurbished and had everything mum needed. The manager and staff made the transition for both mum and me as smooth as they could and mum fitted right in. Lothian House is a warm, calm,
and caring home and I have peace of mind mum will be looked after here.

Very organised and very clean. Excellent precautions in place to help avoid Covid transmission. Mother-in-law looks well and is happy. It is definitely peace of mind for my wife to know she is looked after so well. Thank you for all the continued hard work.

My mother moved to Lothian House in September 2020 following a period of illness. She has been wonderfully looked after by all the staff who have kept the family updated throughout the pandemic. My mother's happiness and good health is a testament to the wonderful people at Lothian House.

I visited Mum on Monday 8th March 20201 following the lockdown, and the visit was handled professionally, and all tests and PPE issued and worn. My mum is well and healthy and clearly enjoys the company and companionship of all the carers involved in her care. The love and kindness are evident, and
I cannot thank the carers enough for providing this during these difficult times as I am not in a position to do it myself; I really will be eternally grateful Mum has continued to thrive since coming to live at Lothian House, and during the last 12-months of the Coronavirus pandemic, which is due to the care and support provided by everyone involved with Lothian House, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a caring environment for their loved ones. Truly, kindness is care personified. Thank you all.

Jill Barlow

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2004

“I believe that kind care means putting someone else’s needs before your own and making them feel special.”


Jill has gained over 20 years of experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at Lothian House for a number of years, Jill closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Lothian House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Jill remarked: “I just love the satisfaction of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our Residents.”


Away from work, Jill enjoys weekends away with her partner and socialising with her friends and family.
