My father has improved greatly since being at Hallhouse rather than in hospital. The activities each day are a wonderful interaction - the Halloween party was exceptional with the work preparing for the residents.

Relating to Saturday 8th September: Afternoon Prom (to coincide with Last Night at the Proms). This also was my parents' 65th wedding anniversary. My father and mother (who isn't a resident) thoroughly enjoyed the music and Dad was joining in and singing along with it. They thoroughly appreciated the
anniversary cake that was made for them to share with the residents.

9 months ago our family had to make the difficult decision of Dad having to go in to care.


After a very short time, that worry was taken from us. As Dad is so well looked after in Hallhouse we could not ask for anything better. First class care!

We are visiting from New Zealand for two weeks and are impressed with the care and relationship between the staff and residents of the home. We have felt welcome and at ease to visit any time of the day during our stay.
We are unable to be sure of how often the activities person is there? (I.e once
weekly or more). However, we enjoyed sitting in on the session this morning! It was good being able to assist our relative to take an active part. Our only disappointment was finding one day when he had run out of razors and needed shaving, although money is held for this purpose.
Thank you sincerely for the care you take of our loved one and your welcome to ourselves. Thank you so much to the activity lady - she does an amazing job.

My grandfather has been a resident at Hallhouse Care Home for the last 8 weeks. I and the rest of the family have visited regularly. Staff are always welcoming and show kindness and compassion towards all of the residents. There are regular activities for all of the residents. Most recently another
resident’s family member played the accordion for an afternoon - it was lovely!

Both my parents were resident in Hallhouse, my mother for 6 months, my father for only a few days before moving back to the hospital. The family were very happy with the care my parents received. I felt that I was getting good feedback from the staff on how my parents, especially my mother, were doing.
My mother gradually failed over the months she was there but the staff were extremely kind and professional in their care of her. As a family, we felt we were made welcome when we visited (we live locally, so that was almost daily!) and encouraged to join in with the various activities. My mother passed away very suddenly and we cannot fault the care she received from the nurses, who kept us informed and who cared for her when we were unable to reach Hallhouse in time. The care of the staff for us as a family was also outstanding, and we regarded them as friends.

My dad and I were invited to join mum for a Burns supper. When we arrived we were seated at a table that was decorated with Tartan runners, napkins, a copy of the grace and a songbook. All the residents were given a little drink to toast the Haggis. Our meal was beautiful and we enjoyed being able to
have dinner with mum.

My parents have been in Hallhouse for 18 months now. The activities and social outings organised are excellent and there is always something to look forward to.


I would say Hallhouse would definitely benefit from a second sitting room in the main building. At times there are a lot of visitors which

makes the sitting room congested. Overall I am very happy with the care my parents are receiving.

The Lodge is a lovely building with great communal rooms. The bedroom I have seen is ok, not too big and with tired decoration (which surprises me given the cost to residents). I've heard nothing negative about the quality of meals. Staff have been proactive, when necessary, and identify/address my
relative's needs.

Mum has now been in Hallhouse for almost 4 years. It has become a second home and although there have been a lot of staff changes, there are still some there from when Mum first arrived. The family and I feel that Hallhouse is a safe place for Mum and the only thing she complains about is not getting
a decent cup of tea.
